hello all , its about time i purchased a new bivvy. my faithful trakker ultralite is like a scene out of das boot when it rains , im looking at buying the new fox frontier, trakker tempest advanced 150, the trakker 100t ev or a new aqua pioneer , cant decide which one would really like to see all these bivvies set up so i can gauge the size and pack down size and ease of ser up etc , my question is , is there a decent tackle shop anywhere in the uk that has these bivvies set up on display so ican view them at the same time , my usual go to shop was fosters in Birmingham but that has gone seriously down hill since the takeover and doesn't have anything to view anymore, any recommendations or advice on these bivvies welcome , thanks in advance

There is a shop on Doncaster (I think) that makes a big deal on social media about its bivvy display ... Can't remember it's name though!

I have the X, which is the middle sized one.
I have recently taken out the things I don't need / use on every session - groundsheet, additional pegs (there are loads supplied), storm poles, infil panels (I kept the mozzie one in the bag, put the solid and clear ones into storage) and it's made a big difference - about 4kg. It now easily rolls up and fits back into it's bag and sits on the barrow no problems.
You'll definitely get smaller, lighter shelters, but I far prefer this over the Tempest, or the Undercover Brolly. Build quality and materials are second to none, I love the flat back to push my bed chair right up against it with no wasted space and it's pretty quick to set up and take down. Pitch black inside as well.....obviously good for sleeping but very effective to shelter from the sun when it's blazing.

that does sound very good the flat back definitely swaying towards the fox , price seems better too, just need a decent shop with a few frontiers and tempests in different sizes to look at , bag is a big one for me and also ease of set up , love my old ultralite still the easiest to set up , and very light , bags abit long and heard the new ones are heavier and not as roomy as the tempest and frontier

Have you tried carp store located between Aldridge and Sutton Coldfield. Not very far from Fosters. They have a number of bivvys on show and will do a good deal.

These are suppose to be good I'm sure they have 2 shops one in Sutton and one in Aldridge,my mate uses the one in Aldridge and they been really helpful with stuff he wanted and price matches etc

yes 👍 i did see a video on this last week looked fab , but then i noticed it has a solid front no mozzie mesh on the front sides so cant watch the water , also the door ooks really low might give me spinal biffita , heard the price is high aswell but will definitely check it out maybe they will bring a higher version and a mozzie window infill be shame not too

I feel the same, that would be a good bivvy but the stupid solid doors really let it down, it has stopped me from buying one,I can't think why they have done this as some of their other bivvies have normal doors..

I've got a new Ultralite to replace my old 2010 model (and also down scale from my previous silly big Pio 150) . . .
In a nutshell its quality and just as good if not better than the previous with the rear vents / insect panel etc. Downsides are its def heavier than the original (Aquatexx EV is denser) and the quicksticks are poo (they've now got a Drennan twistlock type mech that is rubbish . . .not sure I like the skull cap peak either and still feel its just more weight / faff to deal with

Had the original for twenty plus years and now the latest one but giving up session fish so selling it. Still think they are the best quality bivvy on the market. Only two seventy two hour sessions in mine but it rained hard with strong wind for one session and it's a rock solid bivvy and stayed bone dry. I have owned a pioneer, tempest and now the frontier X........for me the Frontier X is the best design and a great bivvy.......

TBF see more Frontiers on the bank these days (on my syndicate complex at any rate) than any other bivvy . . . doesn't mean I'll be buying one however . . .big heavy daft camo plasticy things

The camo is awful and yes it's weighty but if you leave loads of the pegs out and the groundsheet it's not far off most bivvys using 20000hh material.......
For me it's an evolution of a tempest with a flat back and the quick erect boss.......

Funny thing is loads of people said they would never buy another fox product after owning the first superbrolly and constantly slagged fox off but now have a frontier... Be interesting to see if it's still in production in ten years time.
For £350...you could do a lot worse and get a Tacklebox longtop ,it comes with a free winter skin ...
I've nothing but over all.praise for this bivvy ...for the money you won't get much better..you can have as a sess shelter ,or stripped right back like an AI brolly like I do sometimes...I ditched the plastic c,thro door and front groundsheet to suit my style of quick fish ,photo ,and home.....!

Still got the original Supa Brolly and it doesn't leak.
Got a Frontier X recently but haven't actually got on the bank to use it yet

Would it not be easier to take a trip to a popular commercial venue and look at the selection lined up 20 yards apart?
I'm sure if you do it politely and tell of your intentions, you could talk to some of the owners and get first hand real world reviews. I think a lot of anglers would like the change if you were asking serious bivvy questions rather than the old “I've caught everything in here and your fishing it all wrong” ****er type conversation.

I've seen Ryan's Frontier X in the flesh and compared with your Trakker Ultralite it's fecking MASSIVE! Definitely not one for tightish swims.
It does look like good material and very palatial.

I agree I've had a lot of bivvies on the market, I use to love my tempest and I'll be still do really like it but the frontier is on another level to it. I just cut down all the extras bits that come with it I didn't need and it's not that bad tbh
