I'm on the lookout for a portable DAB Radio that I can pop in the rucksack for when I'm fishing, anyone got any experience and can recommend one?

Got a Roberts Play10 for £28 off ebay a few weeks ago. Spot on, and with 4 x 2000mAH rechargeable AA batteries, lasts a fair while also. Can't go wrong with a Roberts, got a few of them, they last for years and sound good.
EDIT - got mine from a seller in Winsford, notice he has another for sale, ebay item number 165561399021.

Still using a Pure move, battered, cracked lens, battery life has dropped a bit but sill going strong

personally I would make sure it was a DAB+ model
as there are more and more stations now transmitting only on the DAB PLUS
What is the difference between DAB and DAB+? DAB+ is an upgraded version of DAB digital radio that gives you access to even more stations. To receive DAB+ stations you must have a DAB+ enabled radio

The battery life ain't that great on them Gerry lucky to get 8 hours running time if that I have a couple of the august DAB radio myself

I got one of these recently. Does a great job on my lake where phone signal is a challenge.
Only issue i have with it is it suffers with really bad interference if you try and charge it while its playing. Or charge anything in the vicinity of it. Not sure if its my anker power packs though or if it would do it with all power packs

I've got that August one at the moment. I'm getting about 24 hours run time on a charge, I turn it off every time I leave the bivvy though. I don't get any interference when charging and using at the same time until I try and charge my phone anywhere near it.
I also have one of These which does everything, bluetooth speaker, sd card, usb stick dab and fm and most importantly, changeable 18650 size batteries.

I just use my phone for DAB. obviously it needs to be connected to to a power bank but you'd do that anyway. Job done.

ALL my favourite stations are only on DAB +
so my Pure Move is redundant !!!!
and I wouldnt advise anyone to buy a DAB radio unless its DAB+

I'd be wary of that August one personally.
I have a friend with one and it works fine so I bought one myself.
My one refuses to tune properly and when I run a scan at my house it only picks up a couple of DAB stations. If you move the radio even slightly they cut out.
I've tested mine at locations I know my friends one works, inculding at the lake and nothing. It's going back to Amazon this week for a refund.
The best one I've had (and still own) is a Pure One MI. Only looking to replace it as it's not DAB+ and it's battered now. It still gets through a weekend on one charge though.

Pure move is ancient and as said its dab only. The silly prices on eBay are not justified technology has moved on,I still have mine (since 2006) it's ok for radio 5 live and talksport which is good for me

If you want compact I've been using one of these (for river fishing)

Sound is not expansive as the speaker is v small but fine if you like to listen to 'conversation' rather than banging techno whilst fishing. A bit fiddly to set up initially but once you've got your presets in place its a great little USB rechargeable radio that takes up zero space

Ive been using a roberts play 20 for about a year and its excellent, much better reception and sound quality than my pure move.

I have 2 Sony radios that are blue tooth as well and once charged they last for 25 hours each

The August is more modern and gives you actual info on the screen as opposed to just a number on the other one, sound is probably better quality too. The second one offers much more versatility with the sd card slot, usb slot and Bluetooth speaker, what swung it for me was the changeable 18650 battery, as because I've been vaping for over 10 years I have loads of them knocking around. I only got the August as I was having problems getting Radio X (which is all I listen to) however reception is about the same on the August and other radios I've tried.

Got a Roberts radio. Small nice size. Very good on battery. Can put rechargeable ones in it so when at home can charge from mains with the power lead. But I normally but the cheap battery in its last a lo g time

Thank you. I had one of the ones with no name but dropped it that's why I asked. The 18650 batteries was the reason I got it in the first place so looks like it's another one of them for me. 👍

I have a pure move t4,if I'm honest after using it for a while I think its ****.The sound is poor,the battery life is crap and I would rather use my phone

My brother had a pure one. That was xrap. Had a built in battery that had to charge of mains but it didn't last much mire than 24 hours session. He ended up throwing it away and getting a cheap d.a.b radio from Asda which is far better

Don't bother with the powapacs one, battery life is appalling , especially after it's a few months old

My first pure one mini was great, the second was OK, then the later equivalent was absolute crap. Brand on a heavily downward trend imo, overpriced rubbish
