Going for a long weekender and was curious what food people take to cook?
I have a camping grill and all the normal cooking equipment.
I usually take Super Noodles or a Pot Noodle but fancy something different and thought I get your ideas 😋

I often take a jalfrezi or.madras with rice from sainsburys
If you heat it real slow in the non stick saucepan it's come out lovely. Often only 3 quid.
I also take bananas and bio youghurysnfor breakfast. I generally can't be arsed with a fry up as mostly 24 hours. But bit will take bacon or sausages and some rolls if going longer.
Also a heinz veg soup and ready made Huel live in the van in case I stay longer or have a disaster

The tins of curry/chilli are handy and taste OK. With boil in the bag rice.

Anything you'd eat at home. No need to go down the nasty pot noodle route just because you go fishing. Batch cook and freeze if you can't be bothered with prep on the bank. Curry, chilli, stew. Anything you like.

Use the food in the order it will go off
Fish will go off quicker than chicken
Chicken will go off quicker than a steak
Etc

I cook in bulk and chuck extra portions in the freezer. Usually sausage or bacon baps for brekkies, some sort of pastry for lunch, chicken and mushroom usually. Next weekends dinners will be Butter chicken Curry and Beef Mechado. Unless i take my Cadac and then it will be BBQ food.

Not done steak on my Cadac yet, given me a great idea!!
Not done steak on my Cadac yet, given me a great idea!!
normally a ribeye from aldi, mushrooms onions and mcainnes microwave fries, they crisp up lovely in a pan.
second night normally is a tinned curry with boil in the bag rice, or ill make a stew with tinned stewwed steak and veg as mentioned below. lovely with some crusty bread.
dont bother with cooking breakfasts, just add water porridge and some fruit sees me through, lunch depends, liking those soba noodle pots, much more flavor than a pot noodle and better on the stomach as well.
ill pack the odd sleeve of biscuits or a large bag of crisps but normally they dont get eaten.
dont forget whatever you can reheat at home you can do on the bank, plus if taking a cool bag the frozen meals act as extra ice blocks.
use your imagination, i dunno about anyone else but i think cooked meals outside taste so much better.

I nearly always do a proper meal every night, along with porridge for breakfast (with water as I'm cows milk intolerant and can't be bothered to buy goats milk as it's so much more expensive).
First night is quite frequently a ready home prepared meal, a ragu (bolognese) or chilli with pasta or rice.
Next night is cooked on the bank, a stir fry with pork or lamb, onions, mushrooms, garlic and peppers, a few Italian herbs, maybe some blue goats cheese stirred into cooked pasta.
Then we go for the rump steak, onions, mushrooms and sauté potatoes.
You can cook all that on a single ring stove.

I get the Mrs to do extra chilly, curry etc and vacuumed seal them I then bung em in a boiling pot with boil In the bag rice for 20 minutes, which is as easy as can be and only a plate and fork to wash up. I have done a full roast in the cobb in the past but normally only when I have someone with me to wash up.
My son in law pre prepares toastys in cling film with all sorts of stuff in them and just does them in his toaster.

Anything but that Fink Food junk that is getting punted out. Feckin beggars belief that blokes pay their hard earned for that muck. 10 minute's in a supermarket doing a spot of shopping for healthy grub, save yourself s fortune. Would be intrigued to find the origin of where the food comes from. Especially the meat..
I could be the last to know lol

do you seriously think that stopping buying their cheese it would make the any difference ?
the REAL truth is the serious fines they get stops it ((they were fined over £1.5m !! ))
a few hundred deluded tree hugging people stopping buying cheese wont make the slightest difference and you will never ever get the millions that buy it stopping

I guess it's about taking personal responsibility for your own choices and what your moral compass tells you is right. I just thought it was a very odd comment from someone who supposedly calls themselves an angler. As for labelling people as ‘tree huggers' then if giving a sh*t about the state of the planet makes you one of those then is that such a bad thing?

ALL this doom predicting makes me laugh
it reminds me At its peak in the nineteenth century 300,000 horses kept London moving and a panel of eminent scientist predicted that by 1960 London would be at least 3 feet deep in horse shyte

Science has progressed somewhat since the 19th Century, however it seems apparent that a 19th Century mindset is still widespread.
"Melodramatic unwashed jobless ponces", really?

The thing is people are fluid in their beliefs. Just because a person subscribes to something or has strong views on one particular subject doesn't mean they belong to a group of people and all those people believe the same thing. I don't glue myself to stuff (on purpose) and I work and I wash. What if you were fishing a big gravel pit full of beautiful carp and suddenly a motorway was going to be built right through the middle of it? If the other members were up in arms and protested the development would you get involved?
To the original post........eat what you eat at home

I wouldn't eat Cathedral City or any other of their products after reading Wandle's posts. Very very minor for them, but it's worth doing whatever we can to protect out waterways.
