They still turnover plenty, but anything could be going on? A well known company “went bust” last year it was just not being able to find a buyer and loosing his son he and his missus decided to move and start over.
Not saying that's what's happened here by the way just that what people see on the surface on a company is rarely 10% of tge story

Not forgetting that they don't just flog particles, they also own a fishery in Stafford with one lake as a "syndicate". You'd be pretty upset if you'd have shelled out a few hundred quid on joining that and they've gone bust.....

never had any quality stuff from there. used them a few times, was reassured that quality would be better on next order and was still crap.

I'd made an order back in the middle of April I think and asked for deliver on a future date. Had the text/email confirmation of shipment so contacted them to see if that was just a generic email or had it actually been sent out as I asked for delayed delivery. Turns out they had sent it and was delivered and left in my bin cupboard for a week because I was away on holiday. Bit of grief trying to message/email them but finally got a response and they said they will re send my order for delivery the day I wanted.
Have read a few comments on their Facebook posts and people are not happy with the delays in their orders and that they keep promoting new sales (they are like DFS 😂
but have a backlog as it is. I'm going to message them again to make sure we are still on for the delivery as it's still a few weeks away and I'll probably pester them the week of delivery to make sure it's coming still

One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with the quality was shocking and that was after waiting 3 weeks for it, luckily I don't need to buy it no more as the few lakes I fish have banned all particle apart from either there own or bought out of there shop so they no it wasn't open from an old session
Some interesting reading on companies house. Strike off notice issued but now suspended. Accounts overdue.

The strike off isn't that big of a deal. It's probably down to the fact they haven't submitted their Confirmation filing yet to say they are continuing trading, I'm sure this is a yearly thing. Company I work for had the same thing also this year, accountant never sent of the confirmation in time

I think the first thing should be “buy ten kilos and it actually turns up” that wouldn't be a bad starting point. Or perhaps buy ten kilos and it actually turns up and isn't mouldy and we will actually pick up the phone.
All radical ideas I know, but I reckon it might catch on.

The business model is working to some degree, Ive heard the others firms are thinking about folding yet monster plows on.
One thing I think needs to be mentioned to be fair, and I get this will sound like devils advocate, but we rarely, if ever, hear the good stories, if people get standard hemp thats decent they carry on, its only if particle firms push for acknowledgement or create a "team" that good publicity comes from it.
But a HELL of a lot of people will immediately go public with a bad experience, and usually in my experience before trying to get it resolved with a firm.
a recent experience of mine, sent someone 30kg of nut bait instead of the 15 kilo of fishmeal they'd ordered ( labels mixed up ). the lad who'd ordered the nut bait let me know straight away and I sorted it and told him to keep the fishmeals as a gift. the guy who'd ordered the fishmeals and recieved a greater monetary value of order chose to slag me off on one of the carp groups without giving me the chance to rectify the problem, which would of been at the very least 15kg of fishmeal plus extras as a good will gesture.
I get its more frequent with monster but they do send out about a thousand packages a week, I know they sell by weight ten times more than anyone else as other particle providers by their straights form them I believe.
Either way I agree the deals are complicating a matter thats gotten out of control, a simple streamlined approach would be better for everyone.
As for monetary costs, other particle firms could offer the same deals but prefer a higher mark up.
I just boil my own, usually in the boilie water at the end of the day,

That's exactly my point though.
With regards to the deals it's a toss up if you have a company with employees with family's you have an obligation to them as well ?
I've personally only ever seem floating hemp posts by the idiots who defrost hemp in the bag ( makes it float ) or don't add enough juice prior to freezing ( I know monster sold drained to provide a better deal ).
As I don't post particle, if locals buy it I'll Chuck in the juice after weighing out there purchase so it's likely a 7kg package with 5kg hemp inside, but if I post thst the customer would have to pay to ship water. There is no easy way to do it.
I've heard from two people alledged close to him that carbon may be folding soon. - take that as conjecture or with a pinch of salt as I've not confirmed it .
Shipping bagged particle seems a fickle game.
We once thought of doing the Jared gear but it's a ridiculous waste of plastic

Does anyone think like me that it's a bit odd naming the company as Carbon Baits.
I'm not going to lose sleep about it but the word Carbon doesn't relate to bait in my opinion. Rods and other tackle maybe but not bait.

I'm not so sure on that. I suspect that with the cost of things we may see quite a few angles switching towards particles rather than boiled bait, but then if people are worried about costs and surely they would make it themselves at home anyway. As superior product at a lower price.

Exactly people are realising that fresher, personally tweaked little particles are better.
I for one like to cook my hemp after a two day soak until it JUST starts to split, I like the majority of the seeds soft but unsplit.
On the other hand I like my maize to be fluffy.
And my tigers snotty

I don't think you can produce particle at home for as low a price as some of the deals that Monster were having. They were ridiculous, although by many accounts the service and quality was poor.
Hopefully the new owners (if this is true) can provide a happier medium with price/service/quality.

I think you're probably on to something there. If you asked most seasoned anglers, do you want junk particles at £1 a kilo or quality for £3 a kilo. I think most would pick quality and use a bit less. At least I hope so.

Absolutely. Why I still buy all my dried particle from Hinders. Not the cheapest by a long stretch but very rare you get junk. The prepared particle I wouldn't mind trying is the Fishon stuff, but I'm pretty sure it's collection only and a 2 hour drive in the wrong direction from my lake.
Preparing your own is all part of the fun isn't it?

I've been sent photos on 3 separate occasions of vermin / mite damaged tigers in 3/5kg type pouches from them. Majority of tge bag as well so shouldn't of made it past QC.
Certainly a shadow of the quality I used to see when it was an independent shop that's for certain. But with the whole bait / shop operation ran by angling direct now it was only a matter of time.
Sorry for turning it political but I'd love for a smalll quality independent seed merchant to get back into the game.

I've still been happy with both the service and the quality, if that stays the same they could be owned by Walmart for all of the difference it makes to me. It's the way of the world unfortunately.

I've recently got some bits from hinders, and the tigers are absolutely sh1te. They won't slime up ,they barely swell up, and take an absolute age to get to soften even slightly. The hemp is ok, as are the tares . But I can get decent hemp and tares locally so I won't be using hinders again.

Can everyone just remember that the quality of seed and particles that you guys buy is a direct reflection of the growing conditions that each country is going through each year. If your tiger nuts are crap, full of holes, and small, it's down the farming conditions in Spain. Same with hemp in China or France. Us poor anglers tend to get given whatever is available. Some years, all of the hemp here in the U.K. is awful and I still haven't found any decent hemp at all this year but I do know that nash have a fairly decent batch. There are two or three particles that always seem consistent. Pigeon conditioner with aniseed, buckwheat and maize! I guess they must be fairly hardy things to grow! We sell a lot of buckwheat maize and pigeon conditioner and peanuts, tigers are fairly popular now too. But the particle market now has been saturated and there is a flood or poor particles out there. The list of complaints from anglers about poor prepared particles is off the scale this year.........and cooking your own is so easy!
Give it a go if you haven't already tried is my advice

hemp has been awful this year also, most my parti fishing this year has been over crushed tiger/flaked & whole maize and maples.
love using peanuts but still looking for a decent supplier.

Funny you should mention that, cause this year for the first time shops (well, the one i'm visisting) are selling tigers with a label, including date of production, batch number and best before date. Very happy to finally see that, especially with tigers.
And surprise, surprise, they slime like mad, as fresh ones tend to do:P

Nothing worse than buying a sack of tigers getting them home to find out the weevils have been right through them and you've got a 50%+ sack of shells.
If anyone is after decent tigers I would have a look at the ones Eric sells, he lived in Spain for a good many years near a farm/producer of tiger nuts and he's used tons over the years, he always had good quality fresh tigers with him at Rainbow they were like eating a bag of sweets, "Eric knows his nuts" he dealt with them long enough and wouldn't buy *****, he's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for, his skinned tigers are the ones.

I've had mixed quality on bits from my local feed merchants the past few years.
Monster hemp last year was £38 for 15kilos, decent sized grain, this year, only 'normal' hemp, tiny grains and £38 a sack.
Maize last year was dusty, and I ended up having to do the last 5k and freezing it as weevils had gotten in. They could have been there on purchase, I don't know.
Tigers last year I had to buy in 5kilo bags as I can't use it on my syndicate so no point in buying a whole large sack. It's a chub bait.
Pigeon conditioner or mixed chicken corn has been really good quality.
I've had mixed quality on bits from my local feed merchants the past few years.

Why did the particle companies just run each other down on price? Flooded the market with really cheap particles and ruined it!
Interestingly there are now a lot of people looking and happy to pay more for quality stuff
Maybe gone full circle

Doesn't look like in a very short time on companies House. They've had multiple strike off notices over the last few years . Looks like they've been hanging on since 2019.

Kieron started this company just up the road from me and the products where really good, then he moved to bigger premises down into town and the quality was still acceptable but then he stated big adverts and discounts, that's when things started to go a bit square shaped, he got to big to soon, he was ambitious and you can't really blame him but the orders coming in meant he was then having problems, you cannot rush particles, they have to be cooked slowly

There in the same position as other particle companies mate having to more or less give there product away in order to make the slightest of profit. The particle business has shot itself in the foot by companies trying to under cut the next until there almost giving it away. I can't see carbon being around next year along with a few others.

This new version of Monster were offering 40kg of tigers for £40. Madness. That would last me about 3 years!
The quantity of this gear going into busy waters must be frightening. Who needs 40kg of tigers in one go?!

Support your local independent tackle shop nearest to you. Most have got the facilities to cook up large batches of hemp for the match boys. I'm sure if you asked them they would only be to willing to cook you any particle to order. Fresh is best. Use them or loose them.
