That's right Saputo ,ie Dairy crest Davidstow on Davidstow Moor have polluted the beautiful river Inny in North Cornwall
This is a Canadian owned company, with direct links to deforestation in South America..
They look like they have done it again today ..
I now refuse to eat or purchase any of the products associated with Saputo including Catherdral City cheese..
I hope you will all do the same ...

Blame the billionaire developers and council cronies, the developers all over the south have been at a staggering rate and not putting in the inferstructure to support the domestic development and councils have allowed it when these developers should have been paying towards the inferstructure required. The water companies are just as bad paying huge devidends to wealthy share holders that should have been spent updating and expanding treatment plant to meet future needs.

I'll give up the utterly butterly, which is the only one I use. However I think we're pissing in the wind and pointing in the wrong direction. Surely there must be legal ways to attack this problem.

Can we add poultry to the list of products to boycott as the effluence from the 100no + farms around the river Wye catchment has been devastating the Wye for years its in a sorry state the increase in algae is killing most of the flora and fauna all the rununculus has gone the bottom is covered in an oxygen sapping brown sludge.

Agree, morals seem to only be instilled into the working man. The legal route is as corrupt as the developers and councils that support them, hardly surprising when our council tax money is invested in the development companies.

Used to be a regular visitor to the wye fifteen years ago and have been back a couple of years ago and it's decline is obvious, never knew what the cause was and had assumed otters were responsible for the decline in barbel as it was a prolific place for barbel and chub.

Its always the Billion dollar/pound industries that seem to just get away with it when the causes of pollution are found and taken to court then a poultry fine in comparison to the devastation caused is then levied on the companies.

Such a shame but unfortunately this is a countrywide issue and unless there are many who use, see, visit these rivers, canals then the majority don't know or hear about it.
Writing open letters to the companies, online or in local newspapers [ if they exist ] lobbying local / national MP's is a start as is contact with the EA.
I know many say what's the point but it's a start and will be logged.

Not yet,...my local mp is Scott Mann,a one time local postman and alleged carp and sea angler..
I will do that actually ,easy to do....

There has to to be a starting point,it's not about how many carp anglers stopping buying Utterly butterly or whatever,it's the big picture..
It is about communication, getting the issue out there,making people aware of so called small.issues,taking it on board and acting upon it.
Today I have been busy ,. would you be interested in helping ,rather than not ?,you have a voice,like I do,like lots of others ...pollution is wrong ,it destroys the environment for future and present generations..
I don't want to live my life ,a total lie..at least I'm going to try..
And believe me ,I know from personal experience, just one person can make a difference...do some research ,and come and help your fellow anglers and countrymen.

Just a simple question from me.
How have they polluted said river?
Don't know the area (although have been to Tintagel) but looking on google maps the river doesn't run past the factory, is that correct?
Are you saying there is a pipe or something that discharges into the river?
They have done this 21 times?

Yes to all your questions,it's a automated system now ,pipes etc,
The factory is above the lower ,rills and starting points,of the river..an outfall..
The pollution is toxic sludge,evident on the bed of the river,waste produce from the factory itself..
Cam,just Google river Inny pollution.,saputo dairycrest ,lots of info.plus them admitting it as well,now it seems its happened again..

I for one am grateful for Wandle bringing it to my attention, as where possible, I like to be informed and shop with a conscience. it might not effect a multi million pound company but its legitimate information, and some of us, where we can, like to practice collective social responsibility. especially when it comes to our ecosystems. enough cannot be done.

An update,I have been both in contact with the E/A and fish legal who are investigating at this moment..they are more than aware now of the issue..
I have also written to my local rags to inform others of the situation,and my village magazine ,which gets distributed all over the UK and World due to the amount of Cousin Jack's abroad..!...many people locally who work there, will be embarrassed..,like I said,from little acorns...!

In certain areas there is a brown toxic sludge evident,lamping ot night reveals NO minnows,I had minnows on one stretch last week..there is no sprainting on any stones,and the sheep won't drink from the river,nor are there any deer tracks ,or prints from the other 'party'..ie animals are not silly ,they know not to drink from a polluted source...

What really annoys me about things like this, thousands of country houses, pubs, resteraunts, hotels etc have there own sewage treatment plants and pumping stations which discharge to soakaway, streams, rivers ect. These are serviced to schedules and regular discharge samples taken for analysis so how are these big companies getting away with it and only receiving relatively small fine in comparison to the small businesses? Maybe the directors and senior management should also receive big fines as well.
