avid pin down had no problems

Fox stuff works for me but have used avid pindown as well.

The Angling Iron Gravit8 is very good

I'm looking for lead free leader also . Iv gone for the fox submerge in 50lb . Seems to get pretty good reviews

surprised there isn't mention of the Gardner cam flex lead free. excellent super supple product

Pb silkray is decent, however Thinking Anglers are working on one thats I've seen and its down right seductive.

Nash cling-on for me in 40lb. Strong & easy to splice.

This might be a stupid question?

I have a couple of spools of leadcore in the shed. The stupid bit, if I pull the leadcore out will it work like the newer lead free stuff, not sure what the difference in material is, does anybody?

Will it sink?

The material itself is neutral and trapped air makes it become buoyant
I've used little bits but always with a heavy enough fluoro core

I'd assume rubbing putty along the length will sort out any issues of it floating.

Or you could poke the lead back in again to make it sink?

Sounds like I need some lead free, or does lead free have the same properties it just under another guise

Avid pindown leadfree is as supple as uncoated braid and sinks almost as fast as leadcore. If you were to take out the core from esp I feel the outer material would still have a bit of rigidity as the material is quite stiff right?

Ditto, this is what i have settled on. no complaints at all.

Heavy, supple and abrasion resistant. had the same leaders on for 6 months of so and havent noticed any fading of the colour either.

Iv just tied up some leaders today using the fox submerge 50lb . I found it a lot easier to splice with the easy splice needle . My first impression are that it looks and feels good . The looped ends are tight and there is no movement in them . Also feels heavy when wet . It will definitely be in my armoury for the future

That and avid is what I use, the fox is much easier to splice though being thicker.

I am using the Fox stuff and it is pretty decent. Correct about the right needles though, found it tricky to splice with normal needles

Think I might try the Gardner stuff next
