I see a guy on Facebook having to sell some tackle due to the price of a new syndicate he's joined to be very expensive. As it's getting ridiculous with the cost of things now . What lengths would you go to pay for your ticket.. how much would you pay as most good syndicates are anything between £600 up £1500 maybe more.

I'd stick my Mrs on the game. Granted at a tenner a pop it's gonna take her a while to earn my ticket money once I factor in the refunds.
But an added bonus is she'll be out most nights so that gives me more time to watch carp fishing on the tv and go carp fishing at the weekend.
Plus I won't have to go anywhere near her as some other geezer will have saved me the trouble. So it's a win win really.

I'm not selling tackle I use, I'm selling the doubles/triples of stuff I have.
I have 2 sets of Century Neville and Scope Ops bars and sticks. What use do I have for 2?
I have 8 stainless nevs, I'm only selling 2.

That makes sense..I only keep what I use,I've been like that since childhood..
I think people are going to struggle to actually go fishing dreckly,as I note the roads are dead,dead quiet ,and the only garage on the edge of the moors is charging 170 for petrol.and 180 for diesel, a litre..
Times are achanging ,tighten.yr belts ..!

Yeah the cost of going now is ridiculous, unless you live on top of your venue .as I live in Essex and quite a lot of syndicates in and around we're I live . But the cheapest is about £400 and it's a **** hole . All the decent ones are around the £650 mark.

Haven't been on in a while, pure chance I saw this ha.
Also I don't ‘have' to sell any gear, it's more that I can ‘reduce' the cost of the ticket to the Mrs if I move some

My wife ain't to bad she does let me join the more expensive ones if I want , but as I don't go as much as I would like it just doesn't warrant it . And the fact I'm probably fishing one of the most sort after club lakes in Essex makes up for it 😀😀.

CAA is not difficult to get a ticket, getting a decent night permit..that's another matter. No chance as a new member to get one.
I can think of others that are not NPW but are near to impossible to get a ticket or have a very long waiting list.
Anyway it's going off topic slightly.

It all depends on your individual circumstances doesn't it. Luckily I don't have a big mortgage these days, I'm not saddled with a huge car loan and I'm very fortunate to be paid reasonably well in my day job.
So I don't tend to think too much about renewing my club membership at Wheelock AS or booking several trips a year to a very nice commercial lake.
I have no doubts this year I will cough up the higher of the two amounts you mention - admittedly I'm very fortunate but as I don't really drink, don't spend much money on any other hobbies I don't mind the investment in my own time and enjoyment.

Ah, I assumed from 'club' and being in Essex you meant public club. Interesting! We certainly have a few (heaps) cracking waters around Essex.

I agree with this. I have actually potentially just landed another dream ticket meaning my ticket costs would hit £1500 this year. I don't really mind, I earn decent coin and can justify it.

Another issue is if you drop a ticket its unlikely you will get back on if needed!
So many people on waiting lists now and on better syndicates so few dropping off.
I have 3 tickets that total about £1500 and I know if I dropped one of them there's no
chance of getting back on. This year a total of 4 people over the 3 syndicates have
dropped their tickets.
So I pay knowing I may not fish that particular water that year.

I hear of a place,...that has offloaded members who do not fish waters enough,or not at all..ie they just members in name only they just hold a ticket and privilege to fish..
What are peoples thoughts on this,do stipulated rules need to be made ie ,if your don't fish it enough ...

Yep. As mentioned below I might get offered a 2nd ticket which I couldn't refuse if it was offered - even if I was only to get a night or two in there this year.

I also know of a situation,where members are removed from syndicates as they couldn't fish due to illness etc ,and the syndicate manager,letting his 'buddies'..fish..giving out ridiculous excuses for that as well..

Maybe. I've worked really hard to get the tickets I've got, took a lot of time and lot of effort, as has everyone else there (I'd imagine).
Mine are nearly 2 hours apart. I'm hoping to fish them both simultaneously but might be moving hours across the country do wouldn't fish one as much due to that

You could look at it as a good thing if people don't or can't make maximum use out of a ticket, it has to be less pressure on the fish and folks can find a swim when they turn up.
With young kids and a being a single dad, I'm lucky if I have used my club ticket more than three or four times a year for the past 9 years, but I will never drop it as there is a ten year long waiting list which is currently closed.
With my kids getting older I am planning to be out more this year. I'm sure there is a reason why some people don't necessarily get the full use out of tickets but I'm sure they will hold them as they know they will never get back in again.

I'd imagine a great place to fish and to look forward to going to,spending time in a lovely environment, comes down to communication ..
So that everyone involved is clear from the get go ,what is expected of them and how the water or waters operate..
Without that communication, a syndicate lives or dies on those parameters..
A couple of places I knew of ,wonderful ecosystems, albeit chainsaw happiness members,personal sheds put around the lake and no set visible ethos of the way a place was run..no rules,other than they were made up as it went along..
However ....in turn ,the syndicate I knew of became a haven of 'special mates'...most of whom didn't fish it..ie ,the chosen ones wanted it for themselves,and the lovely history fish ..
It's all down to the management and personal agenda of the one controlling the money and fishing..

Suffolk Water Park is a 10minute drive from my flat, but at £30 a night compared to £450 a year. If I fished 2 nights a week for 50weeks of the year, that would be £3000.

This year it has produced pike to over 20lb for me, so even if I don't fish just for carp I can keep an eye out.

There was no comeback.or right to question ,they were gone ..however I also know ,syndicate manager ,let his mates join after...on one such place,
