With the end of the year approaching, how's everyone's season gone?
I've had a belter, end of June the morning after an overnighter I saw fish showing in a nearby swim so I packed up, moved, put the rods out and got permission to stay an extra hour or so...
First rod went off within 5 minutes, I lost it in the weed, second rod went off 5 minutes after that and again I lost it in the big banks of weed between me and the fish. Just as I as texting the wife the last rod went, and I managed to get it in, new PB of 33lb 2oz. Her reply amused me

Well done though mate, cracking fish.
ItMy year has been up and down, but I've visited loads of places I've never fished before which has been great, and had a few fish that may well have never been caught before.
I'm on a winter ticket for a lake that 50% of the stock is probably a PB for me. Nothing to report but just being there has been fantastic.

Not even close, think about 25lb is the biggest. Got a few trips piking before the end of the year, my pb of 19.3 is easily beatable

Not had a 20 in 18 years and had 2 in 30 mins from a lake that I had been fishing on and off for 10 years. Both a PB common and mirror

I've had one pb this year which was a 14oz dace, thought it was a chublet so had to get the bailiff to confirm for me.
Proper gnarly old thing it was too 🙂

Had a 28lb 5oz out of Merrington on a social with friends in autumn, could have sworn it would be 30 but i suppose it'll elude me for another year. North Wales isn't the place for big fish unfortunately

I've had a terrible season all things considered. Blanked the year on one water where I was relatively successful last year, but managed a few from different waters here and there. Best being 34lb original common from a club lake and a 28lb zip linear on a winter ticket. Hoping for a bit more consistency in 2022!

I fished all year from early Spring, every single week bar one or two. I caught two carp, and lost two, both losses from the boat.
One was 41lb8oz, the other was 55lb4oz. A new PB for me by 2lb. First UK 50+ common. 4th UK 50+ capture. Only two carp landed, but an incredibly successful years fishing for me personally.
I lost a 60+ from the boat. Noddy.

PB's as a whole? Plenty
Biggest Pike on a lure rod, largest amount of double figure Pike in a day, Biggest Pike out of the River, biggest Dace, Caught the largest out of a local pond so drew a line under that place, and managed to draw a line under another water by catching a fully which I had been after for two years. With both waters it was great knowing you had cracked it, and could turn up knowing that you had a great chance of catching unless you royally cock it up.
One other memorable capture was discovering a close in spot on a new water that had been cleaned off. I saw possibly five or six of the larger known fish come in and feed, only for a greedy low twenty common to snaffle it. Learned a few lessons watching a snowman rig getting blown out twice by one of your targets
Wasn't all sunshine and roses as I said. Lost my first two river carp. One being a dark scaley mirror which was the biggest within a group of 10 fish which made home within a back channel in the spring before the levels dropped with the summer sun. One I lost was a chance encounter whilst Chub fishing on the main river. Proper noddy trying to land a carp on a 1.75lb avon and a centrepin wasn't the greatest idea, but to plop a ball of six maggots and to see it take it in gin clear water was an incredible moment. 80+kg of maize over the closed season for two lost fish was a kick in the teeth.

Never really got out this year for the carp but I have just started my chub campaign and on my first trip caught a pb of 6lb 9oz. Well chuffed. I would put up a pic if I knew how 😳

Well done on the pb pal. Been a funny year for me with no pb. Biggest was 37lb but iv also had a lot of small fish this year from a water where every other fish was 30+ pre lockdown

I managed my first 30 - a common at 36lb 6oz. Have only managed 1 session since (blank) but well chuffed to have caught it with such limited time on the bank and after 4 years of chasing thirty on that venue and a couple of really close upper 20s it was nice that it wasn't just a scraper 30.

I can't remember the last time I caught a pb carp without checking my pics, it was a fair few years ago. My largest pike, only my 2nd ever 20 was 4 or 5 years ago, although I did manage a 20lb pike from the reservoir 2 years ago.
Personal bests for me are a rarity and hard earned mostly because I prefer harder waters for all species.

Pb mirror for me at 35.10. Came with another 35 and a 33 all in an overnighter, which was a bit of a result.

I've had a PB common just over 40, been 8 years since I upped the mirror pb perhaps my focus should be there 🤔

Not so much a PB in terms of one fish, but I did manage 14 x 20's in one day. I've managed over 10 in a day a few times over the years, but 14 is a new PB for me. UK club lake as well, not some exclusive water and by day, I mean just that, fishing early morning 'till sunset. I think back to when I started in the 80's, that would be a good season!

Broke my mirror pb this year .
Was part of a brace that averaged just over 40lbs.
Luckily I had two landing nets set up.

You Canada CarpSociety guys are doing great stuff to open up your big potential. Well done on your PBs, too.
Down here in North Carolina, I had a great year for what we consider ‘big carp' and actually had a brace of thirties for the first time one May morning (33+ and 34+).
But I still haven't seen a US forty on the bank, sure Dale Hollow will eventually do one for one of us.
They are all pristine and uncaught though, eh !

I've had a PB year! Over 100 proper carp plenty of 30s a 38.6lbs original from elstow plus some other proper old ones and a frnech PB carp of 47 plus lbs. Not an overall PB. But the bert season ever with a couple of 40s some 39s and loads of fish every month!! Bring on 2022 bigger harder challenges ahead.
