Hi as per title. Am looking at pods as I am more than likely going to be fishing off platforms a bit more this winter . Have found myself leaning towards the JRC Coccoon or Contact. Budget is sub £100 . Any users or experience of these? Other suggestions welcome,but only trad' style pods...these singlez type things with stabilisers just don't interest me. In a nutshell..low,stable, can fit 3 FX11's nicely and sensibly priced!

Don't waste your money on a hundred quid or less pile of junk, false economy. A cheap pod will fall to bits. Save up and buy a Solar worldwide P1 and be done with it; last a lifetime and is capable in all situations.
An exception to this is a Chris Brown pod which is an acquired taste.

rubbish! ... I have Fox pods that cost less than £100 at the time and have lasted nearly 20years and still going strong.

Likewise, had a Fox Stalker+ pod for a fair few years now, think it was £65. Looking at it, I don't see what can go wrong with it either. Comes with 2 and 3 rod buzz bars. My lad also has one, he uses his all of the time and it's still fine. Whereas I only use mine when I can't get banksticks in.

Is the pod you mention still available now and made to the same tolerances, if not, other than price, your point is moot. Also worth noting is Inflation: what would be the cost of the pod you bought way back 20 years cost now, definitely not the same money, no?

These cheap pods are mass produced to a certain price point with generally cheap/low quantity materials. They may be ok if you're fishing places with mowed lawns, however if for example you have to drive things into the ground, you put pressure on the cheap materials which end up going all loose and rattly and fall apart...been there, seen it and done it.
The other thing worth mentioning is these things are mostly pumped out of China, what about supporting British manufacturers of which there are plenty? I mentioned two earlier, a third that I should give a well deserved shout out to is Defiant MPS <-- great kit.

Yes, agreed. Defiant MPS are one of the best, if the guy wanted/afford or justify spending nearly 3 times his budget. There is nothing wrong with spending less and upgrading if necessary in the future.

Leeda Rogue pod £40 on amazon. The only pod I've ever owned so no comparisons. Needed a pod for a new lake, I wasn't prepared to pay silly money for carbon, stainless or titanium so went for this from a local shop and been using it regularly for 5 years. Can be used as pod, goalpost or singles. Ally, so it's light and it will take 3 big pits comfortably. Comes with a fitted bag. For that price highly recommended.

Sometimes it is better to buy quality items second hand rather than always looking at the newest latest version or product.

Thanks for the input lads..appreciated. Vader x is looking good. Most of the year I fish single sticks and have zero need for a pod, hence my sub 100 budget. Yes, I have seen original sod pods for sale for under a ton,but wanting a low set pod,means buying the short single or tri post adaptors. Firstly they are like rocking horse doodoo and secondly a pair is gonna be £50 odd minimum.Then there's buzzer bars to add on.. End of the day I'm pushing silly money and tbh I just can't justify the outlay for an item that gathers more dust than mud/scratches!!

Cheers for the Chris Brown idea, but it's not for me tbh... To my mind it appears reliant upon a ground spike or three akin to the singles. Also the fishery I'm targeting has a daft rule prohibiting the use of screws etc for stage stand type arrangements....hence the low and wide trad style.

I still use an original Chris Brown pod, bought back in the 80's, no longer made and are very hard to get hold of second hand now, and also a pod from Custom Angling Solutions, both of these pods were made in the UK, and the CAS one is still made in the UK.
I cant fault either of them.

I have been using a JRC Square pod for a few years now. It's been solid. It uses 16mm bank sticks so you can add longer ones by anyone that sells 16mm sticks. I have a pair of longer Nash ones so you can have the rods butt up, tip up, cok up, whatever. Not that expensive, maltreated by me, solid. It's just a rod rest.

I had a play witha prologic K1 pod in a shop the other day , the one similar to a fox X pod. Felt solid. Anyone used one of these?They also do a carbon version as well.which is on offer from Total fishing tackle at the moment for £115.

Right.... visited a few shops today... Had a play,had a waggle. Had to put a couple together. The Vader X 3 rod ended up going home with me. The JRC I had looked at originally, felt more flimsy. Thanks for the pointers lads
