Best I used, back in the 90's was also a bakery product, obviously smelled just like hot cross buns based on glucose syrup base with small amount of potassium sorbate. Tasted amazing on its own and in both Enervite and Enervite Gold.

It's still available. I use one from a bakery supplier and it's far superior to the bait company ones I have used. It's mentioned further down this thread.

Yeah I'd seen that one this came in round/brown 1litre bottles. Tasted awesome, no harshness unlike commercial carp ones.
Just as an aside if you are making a food bait rather than just hookbaits, try adding some molasses and some of the dry spices found in bun spice, just a pinch each of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger and cardamom, really makes the bait stand out from the crowd.

Is it clove or isoeugenol? I am sure JB has expressed a lot of faith with isoeugenol in the past so it would make sense.

Iso-eugenol is often synthesised from cloves

I've found iso-eugenol to be a pretty good attractor and in low levels

me too, particulary as the water temps drop. Though ISO does thicken when cold.

Not really seems to be bulked out with clove which I'd imagine is cheaper than some of the other essential oils which it contains

Bunspice as far as I know is based on clove, ginger , cinnamon and caraway oil.

Might give you a starting point to make your own bunspice flavouring using all 4 oils at a low level

What's the best bunspice flavour?

Obviously I'm slightly biased... But clearly it's the one that goes into our S3 cure 😂. Formulated by moi... Based on Bob Campbells original Bunspice, just turbo charged to the extreme. Good things come to those who innovate... Not imitate.

How's the weather doing in Blighty? 😆
