I doubt we will see the master himself using 12 foot rods so I guess it is just marketing. A bit unusual for ESP.

Yeah I know they have confirmed that there will be some 12 footers coming. What I meant was that it is a marketing stunt putting Terry's name on rods that he most likely won't be using himself. I bet they will be nice rods though - ESP rods usually are.

No idea whether he will use them or not, but they are built in an identical fashion/fittings to the 12ft9 Tel rods so why not use the same name.

agree, i dont understand the dig at ESP/Terry ... The Hearn rods has had 12ft version in previous ranges
I am a little gutted though as was hoping for a carp rod based on the Alcolyte blank ... Ill be sticking with my Tectrix until they either break or an Alcolyte carp rod comes out

Sorry if it sounded to harsh. I didn't mean to have a dig at ESP and certainly not at Terry. It was just that he was very specific about the 12'9 rod length in the promotion video when they launched the Mk3 and that he couldn't go back to 12 foot rods. Can't link to the video on my tablet, but it's on YouTube (if anyone cares) around 4:30 and onwards.
I know there was 12 foot rod in the Mk1 and Mk2 range, and I also believe that he still used 12 foot rods back then.
If there's a demand and people want 12 foot Terry Hearn rods then by all means support ESP so they can develop more great products.
I guess the ESP rods will be great no matter if it says Terry Hearn, Michael van Gerwen og Steve Vai on them.
Perhaps just the time of the month for me.

quite possibly ... i contacted ESP/Drennan a few years back and they had no plans at the time for an Alcolyte blank rod ... shame, as good as the Tectrix rods are (based on Ultralight i believe) the Alcolyte blank might be in a different league

Not to familiar with these blanks other than I know they are highly thought of float rods.. do they make other rods under the Alcolyte banner?

It started as a float rod but has since been expanded to quite a range of float and feeder rods and poles with the Alcolyte blank now

A new Terry Hearn landing net is available next month, with a machined in Oxford, stainless spreader block.
The originals were a lovely rod but I preferred the lighter model.
I wouldn't buy another set while they have some other bloke's name on. It's almost as bad as the people who wear a football strip with somebody they don't know's surname on it.. even worse allowing their kids to do it. Bizarre behaviour

Supermarket carrier bags have advertising on them. I don't like it but wouldn't stop shopping there because of it. If it's that worrysome to you, you could scratch the offending name off the article.

If the carrier bag was a Tesco - Philip Schofield edition. That would be more relevant.
A single surname as the brand name is not comparable to a living guys name written on something.
Its all personal preference, but you can keep using your Phillip Schofield bag of thats what makes you happy.

But you can buy perfectly good, in fact better rods without somebody's name on them and in a length or test curve you actually want rather than making a compromise to look like Terry; which somebody has said already they will do haven't they?
It's obvious, the sniper was arguably a better rod but never took off... why? It didn't have Terry's handle and name on it

Used to love my vertex rods, one of the few rods i regret selling.

I thought the Vertex were lovely cosmetically and im sure the action would of been great but i felt they were too heavy in the hand ... why i went for the Tectrix

Never used Snipers myself but used the 12'9" Vertex distance in 3.5lb for the past decade. I use SS3000 on them G4FNE and they feel nice and balanced. The thing I really like about them is casting accuracy upto about 120( the playing action is second to none as with most Drennan rods). Suited me far more than Harrison/FS rods I owned at the time. No doubt there's better around now but unless these get nicked or smashed I won't be finding out
