As a newcomer to carp fishing, I am very curious and eager to learn what boilies other carp anglers use. What has been the most successful boilie you used over the years and why? What is the one you cant go without and constantly catches fish even in the hardest conditions?
Thanks

White Northern Special Wafter on a Slip D or German Rig. Got absolute confidence when its on the end of my line, if a fish were to come past, I'm sure it will take it. As you can probably tell, I have to have confidence with whats on the end of my line.
As for Boilie, I use Premier Matrix for the same reasons, total confidence in it as its caught me fish when the rest of the lake has been dead

A yellow pop up. Because I've found them good for stalking and getting a quick bite.

The do pop ups and wafters in numerous colours and sizes all named northern special. They are a very popular and decent pop up which i've used a fair amount, their Ns1+ are the more buoyant variety. Carp freaks are a variant designed by another angler and i've had decent success on them too.

Atlantic Heat for me, caught loads and also catfish like 'em too. If you're on a water with carp and cats, and you want to try for both, it's a good bait to have on one or more of your rods. But carp love 'em.

Proper Job pop ups, will stay up for day (unlike myself), you know its not gonna become a wafter after a few hours like some popular brands I've used.
As for boilies, TBH I think most of the popular brands are much the same and you won't go far wrong with any of them. You only have to look at the likes of Jim Shelly who seems to change bait manufacturer every year, but no matter which he uses he always does well.

Varies from situation, each lake is different, sometimes each day can be different.
I've used CC Moore for a few years as the water I fish sees a lot of it, and it has done me well. This year I'm switching to DNA after hearing a lot of good things

Loads of answers, plenty of bait companies, some now defunct, some still going.
Years ago, the most successful bait I used was Brian Hewitt's New Concept Baits, Mariner mix. The carp absolutely loved it. Sadly Brian packed in his own bait making.
Nutrabaits Big Fish mix, Enervite, Enervite Gold, Trigga, all produced loads of fish before Bill Cottam sold Nutrabaits. I haven't used them for years.
I have caught on Solars Tunamino, and I currently use Rod Hutchinsons KMG.
I know they will produce if I can put them in front of the fish.
I went through a stage of carrying a million and one tubs of pop-ups, (not exaggerating😉😖😆
, the only thing many of those pop-ups caught was me.

Northern specials. They stay buoyant and retain their smell. Boilies would be scopex squid.

I once fished a popular day ticket water, as I was getting my gear on the barrow I was talking to a couple of lads who were just loading up the same as me. The lad parked at the side of me pulled out a LARGE plastic bag full of pop ups, I kid you not I will say there were at least 50 pots, more likely close to 60 or 70!!!
I asked the question, which one are you going to use then lol? Need the options was the reply
Good luck finding the winner on the day
Plus the cost!!!

Boilie would be ABS tuna/NBA with added GLM though I don't believe the original tuna attractor is used these days, pop up either matching cork ball (home made) or yellow custom PJPU squid/pineapple/NBA. All served me well over the years breaking PB's both home and abroad.

Ive used the same bait for the last 16 yrs, both freebies and hookbaits. Lost count of the amount of fish i've caught on them and i wont change the bait.
why do i use it?
I know EXACTLY what's in it, the amounts, the traceability of ingredients.
I've caught that many fish on it in the past 16 yrs, from small to silly large and everything in between, its consistent, its works, full confidence and its always the same.

Boilies wise I use either sticky krill or a dna s7/slk mix for hookbaits either sticky krill wafters or northern specials wafter/ pop up 12mm or sticky signature 12mm wafters. I don't take all of them I just take the krill and what ever I fancy for that session.
I used to carry loads of different pots for a session now I take 4 pots krill wafters, a yellow pot, a white pot and a pink pot all of them being northern specials, I mix the wafters and pop ups into one pot of the same colour so I don't have to take stupid amount with me
I have complete confidence in these baits and prefer to fish wafters over pop ups just seems to get me more results and to me seems like it would be treated with less suspicion, I do use pop ups though when it is required weed, deep silt etc

why buy a wafter and a pop up in every mix you use... I saw a clever trick carry a bit of thicker soldering wire with you.. push it into a pop up to weight it down a bit job done .. Ive been on sticky krill 3 seasons now with ok success but am adding oxford baits MC nut to my armoury this season.

For me it has been Essential Baits B5 in the shelf life version. Sadly after brexit I can no longer get them. Right now I'm a bit lost as to where to source a bait that I can have the same confidence in.

Ccmoore equinox was the most successful bait that i have ever used but now that they have stopped making it.....
DNA switch and a ccmoore northern special are the best boilie / pop up in terms of reliability at the moment

Ive been using Geoff Bowers Malarky in UK and European waters since it came out, 100% confidence, although I did take advantage of Baitworks recent offer and bought a few kilo of the Royal Marine and the Monster Red, but yet to get out to use it.

thanks for the reply ... yes agree with that comment ... it was on a Korda team video on a link about rig tying. HOWEVER its a very small piece not even 3mm long and when using hard pop ups does the fish actually ever get the bait.. for me I don't think it ever has ..and crush that pop up not chuck it in can't really see an issue ... but I get your point completely..

Do you know if poacher baits takes orders of 1kg for TNM boilies? Looks like the minimum order cost £40 which is too expensive
