Anyone know if this flavour has NBA already added to it ?

They do two. The normal range is pineapple. The UTCS has NB

The original was pineapple nutrafruit, have a bottle in my shed. When they started to sell the Trigga with pineapple I believe this is when they released the UTCS, can't comment on this?
Long time since I used the nutafruit and have not used the UTCS version
Changed as in smell to you or performance?

I'm sure you are right.
I used Pineapple Nutrafruit myself.
I'm certain that the Pineapple UTCS with the N-Butyric was Big Bills adaptation to improve the results they were getting with Trigga at Les Graviers.
Since he has had most of the big fish from there I'm sure it worked.

Thinking the same myself Nick, it's was Trigga and “then some” if I remember rightly, a twist to the original bait that may have been with the pineapple NB and / or extra GLM, can't remember, never used it myself
Used Trigga though, the ice one for a few seasons, home rolled of course, and then some lol

Wonder why none of the older flavours have changed for the better
Should either be the same or better.

Unless somebody comes out with a new blockbuster pineapple flavour why would they change it? Then if they did I'm guessing everybody would be on it in typical “carpy” fashion!
If it has changed, which I highly doubt, why would they if it worked? unless the original supplier had ceased manufacturing?
The fact is, nobody knows if it has ACTUALLY changed, Nutrabaits will, and anybody who had got the old and new, if there is such a thing, if it had changed and run a chemical analysis?
I don't think there are that many chemical manufacturers around that do flavours?
I'm guessing they are using all the original products that came with the deal. Would you tinker with winning products, I wouldn't, I may add to the range though?
I would call Nutrabaits and ask them, I'm sure they don't want to lose sales, quite the opposite!

Thing is , you can have five different pineapple flavours that all smell exactly the same, but the amount of ingredients used in the make up, can vary drastically. For example, an "old" pineapple flavour from years ago, could be made up of 25 "ingredients", and could be considered as incorporating the basic building block of what is pure ethyl butyrate, that tickle the carps receptors. A number of volatiles ... esters, phenals, carboxylic acids etc, could be added to eg. further enhance or counteract, so to speak, certain properties of the other "ingredients(layman´s terms)" within the flavour composition without altering the actual smell that we sniff.
So, in other words, you can improve an "old(basic) flavour, with let´s say 20 ingredients, that tick 1 box outta 5, and catches carp, to let´s say 80 ingredients that tick 4 boxes outta 5. That´s why some flavours are way better than others, and some not very appealing to carp, but excellent in cakes.

I found the smell was different, having an older pot next to the new ones, something had changed.. and so did catch results.

How was it done back in the day ? Each individual bait company tinkering within inhouse patented flavour blends, or afew major suppliers outsourcing their products, or vice versa ?
When a company is taken over, are their patented blends included in the deal, or possibly not for sale, leaving the new owners, flying the new flag, but same company name, forced to source their own versions ?

Because they no longer have a contract with the flavour house who supplied it I imagine.nb used Blends as far as I'm aware who predominantly make glycerol based flavours. there are loads of flavourists in the UK as it's a multi billion pound business. Maybe NB just changed their supplier?

I agree but as you allude to, it's the constituent parts that are the key to a "labels" attractiveness, personally unless you are using something like JB's flavours that he as control over or you can source one direct from a manufacturer with a known recipe you are at the whim of the middle men ie bait manufacturers. For me I tend to pick 3 or 4 different "brands" of the same flavour and cut them to suit the smell etc I can work with.
I've currently 5 different Scopex flavours including a small amount of the genuine RH's own stock and not one of them smells similar to each other....
As for Nutrabaits Pineapple and NBA UTCS, I believe Lee had a hand in it's formation.

How many flavours are actually designed for carp fishing? Not many I bet

I'd say very few if any are directly designed for the angling market.

I bet J.B. could give you the name of someone who could do it for you. I also bet the reason it's not being done is the cost. Probably why J.B. doesn't chop and change flavours every year or two and also why he owns the profile on his plum flavour.

I have dealt with a few of the flavour houses over the years. They always laugh when we say we need a big order of 20 litres as it's clearly a tiny tiny amount. Did JB design his flavours or just buy the rights to the ones he likes. I would have purchased the rights to rd cambells if I had money and had the foresight😂
Last week I was dealing with a big powder palatant company and they asked if I wanted to buy a 1000 litre ibc of flavours.........um.....no! He then said that no bait company had ever purchased an ibc in his 10 year history!
The food market are the big purchasers and we are just a drop in the ocean.
