Watched the first one on the Orient. That tackle, I seen people with more beefed up tackle on a quarter of acre carp puddle...
Half way through the second one. "Arrow" not a water you see on film if at all.

I remember Kevin mentioning in one of his Vids he bought the VHS camera to film his young boy growing up. But knowing the size of the Video cameras back then it probably weighed more than his tackle..
So glad he documented these session though. Footage like this dont deserve to sit around in a box in the loft. " Arrow " back in the mid nineties was some water. Most carp puddles these days have Forties in them. But for that water to have at least four back then was pretty special and to get some of them on film, history fish. Kevin's never been known for his sartorial elegance but why the smurf costume on the bank. Loving how raw these vids are the American civil war documentary tagged on the end made me chuckle. They've even made me wont to go and boil up some " Emp & Tigers"

I am enjoying Kevin's videos brings back a lot by of nostalgic memories and a couple of the people featured I've met along the way and haven't seen for many years. Like Kevin I too took a video in the late eighties and nineties to record sessions in France and campaigns on English waters, I was lucky enough to have a VHS player until recently that enabled the transfer of tape to DVD. Watching back some of the footage from the stow, Nazeing meads, Wormlybury, King George and in France the Lot, lac Du Charme, etang du Puit and the siene reminded me of great times with great friends unfortunately some no longer with us certainly reminded me why I fish for carp

There's a whole load of us who are still in regular contact, all of the lads are still fishing.
These are lifelong friendships that started back in the 70s and 80s and was due to our love of fishing.
Kevin hasn't changed much, it takes a special type of person to sit in a swim with him for a week listening to his **** music,cooking and washing up and generally listening to his bollox 😂
I'm not so sure it comes across in the films just how intense he is when he fishes, all the laughing and joking is part of his angling but when he's on it, he's on it and works had hard as anybody I've seen.
Not sure what the alarm conversions were ( they will be in his garage somewhere ) very likely they were bamfords which were popular at the time.
Mine were converted by a guy called Bernie Heery, he was a south Weald angler who went on to fish savay and is ( would be ) still fishing today

I have my regular friends that I have fished with most of my life and I have also met some top guys whilst on the bank, some who you bump into every few years and it's just nice to have a good chat and catch up of what they have been on with

There might be some footage out there, but probably not much.
It probably wasnt until the mid nineties that video camera's became small enough to realistically carry around.

Watched these with a friend of mine and his 17 year old son. The son is all bosh, munga, Harrison and basia (daddy obliges)
Watching the boys face while we watched it, it occurred to me that these are bridge videos between old school and the so called "pot noodle" youngsters.
Certainly gave the young man perspective on where the tactics, baits etc actually came from and the work that went into modern carping all those years ago, certainly made me feel good.
Big up for Kevin for releasing these, I think they'll do so much more good than he realises

Watching the second one now and it takes me back to when we were the first ones to use hemp on a local estate lake, it was awesome, you could just sit there and watch the bubbles marching through to your hook bait then, wham! Off it went!
I remember one of the locals coming to have a chat and I said 'my left hand rod's going to go any second now', then the tip pulled round and I was in! 'How the f**k did you know that?' he said, 'I've been working on my carp senses' I said. He went away confused but impressed.
The hardest thing back then was trying to not foul hook them in the pecs/just outside the mouth as they were literally tearing up the silt to get at the hemp and we were using hemp on the hook or superglued to elastic bands.
