Looks like the fishing has been lost at Bradbourne Lakes, and KWT are proposing to introduce otters and beavers.
A great shame as they are wonderful lakes with some fantastic stock.
I'm biased but I think that they are making a big mistake. Today it's hardly fished and has a publicity ban. Given its location it will be easily poached once BDAS lose the lease and now everyone is free to share just how many decent fish are in there, it's more than most people will think.

Fished there years ago hard fishing but some great fish in there and I was thinking about rejoining as I'm only down the road

I'm not a bit surprised at this,not one bit..

Turns out,the guy is a major advocate for beaver release,and breeds them down Cornwall...

Also,I recently lost 3 or 4 of my carp to otter predation..despite the whole lake being fenced,electrified and checked to the point of stupidity..
Simply,the Canada geese flew into the top wire of the fence,wrapping the wires,causing a short...I didn't visit that day,...so it found a weakness, I was so proud of my first line of defence...it brought it home to me,how important that electrification is,however,its means jack if the fence can be breached..
But,after calming down,I will learn yet again from this,and I know know what to do to improve upon it...today I have had a massive solar panel,and a double battery on each wire installed,...
Will be looking for a few new mirrors now...!!

Would this lot be stupid enough to re introduce otters after the beaver 🦫 idea ?
Now that they have got the fishing stopped, they probably think they can do what they want now....

A little club lake I fish has a field with around a dozen buffalo in it yards from the lake, scared the bejesus out of me when I more or less felt the breath on the back of my neck the first time, they are bloody huge too.

Yes. They have said that they plan to introduce otters.The River Darent runs through the lakes. Upstream is Holmesdale Lake and Sundridge lakes, 10 miles downstream is Horton Kirby, Sutton and Darenth.
The wildlife trust have even built Islands for the nesting birds to breed on ... so will be surprised when they see otters eating the eggs!

I'd be surprised if they need to introduce otters to the area in the first place. Nothing natural or wild about that.
Although if they want some the valley here is rife so they can take these.

Hi Andy,...my system is angled at the top 3/4 of the way around,it was fully all round but one side is a bridle way,and I got spoken to about horse riders potentially getting hurt,so I changed it...
I found where it got compromised,its where a willow died,fell over and left a channel to push under the fence,I never noticed..
I now have a new massive solar panel and the area which shorted,sorted..sadly when the pred got in the lake was 90% frozen,so it's gone under the ice killed two small commons,and coot,and buggerd off..leaving the remains on a typical kill platform,including the munched cot..
Kizzi,there are otters present in every county in the UK now,and if more are being released,that will have a negative impact on the already there lutra..

We got a notorious rewilder down this way,hes into breeding Nazi Henk cattle,of all things...bet they tasty though...!!..this guy,along with the now defunct otter park,are,were solely responsible for the demise of many a lake and ecosystem,...these ,people...can and do what they like it seems,no rules or thought for others,whose dreams and business destroyed..

This board has been mislead. The relationship between the club and the Trust has suffered of late, with the anglers voicing their objections to their landlords plans in the most objectionable way. It has made no attempt to align itself to the aims of the Trust at all, as evidenced by some of the knuckle draggers on here.
Easily the worst club I have been a member of. An admin nightmare and the lake stitched up with locals rotating in the going swims in the most greedy way.
They've got what they deserve. I hope the local thieves will leave the fish alone were they live and not try and covert them to a puddle near by, but I doubt it.

Err mate,I'm a long way from being a fool...your referring to the individual from Broadwoodwidger,yes.... which is in Devon yes,inspirational vole rewilder,lol..gimme a break ,he's hated down here mate.more like ecosystem destroyer..

So he released an endangered species such as the vole then releases an apex predator into the same environment even though there's not enough of their natural food or habitat to sustain them lol sounds like a genius, I wonder how many voles have met their fate at the Jaws of an otter. Why don't these rewilders realise that this is a completely different country now to when the animals originally disappeared? What's next bears, wolves? Oh no its gonna be lynx because it worked in Spain where they've got millions of acres of unhabitated countryside for them so it's bound to work in the UK where we've got hardly any lol but it's OK cos they won't eat livestock or pets because we've trained them to only eat deer and rabbits. It's almost laughable if the results weren't so catastrophic.

Apparently talking about some species of pelican that's been extinct here since the medieval times I saw today. Just to add to fish eating bird problems. Only positive spin on it is that if they deem these here pelicans native still, then they kind of have no leg to stand on not changing the status of carp to native too.

But natural England like to remove carp to protect native aquatic species and then put otters in there instead... Oh the irony lol at least if they bring the pelicans back it will be more food for the otters and lynx 🙄

Would anyone be surprised if I said that the buffalo that they are planning to “reintroduce” are not the ones that were in the UK? They are a close relative from the Steppe I.e. a non-native species. They make up the rules as they go along

I gather that species is becoming a lot more common actually. Known as the 'KordaBrassallo', it stomps around many places in the English countryside, its mating call sounding remarkably like "Yessssgetinnnn". I hope it doesn't spread much further or countries will start sealing their borders.....

Let's hope enough people comment on the proposals and the Kent wildlife trust have a rethink. Would be a shame if the fishing is stopped on there. Cant see why Angling and KWT vision for the reserve cant happily co exist.

Let's hope KWT listen to a governing body like the trust, and all the other organisation getting behind the controlling club. And realise Angling can happily co exist along with there vision for the reserve. Knowing the reserve like I do.
