Can anyone recommend a lightweight jacket (with hood) and trousers... don't want to break the bank but do want them to actually be waterproof, Cheers guys!

Hi mate, for my money you cant beat some of the army surplus gear, i have a goretex dpm rain jacket which i got off ebay for £25. Been out in it alot this week and dry as a bone and also very breathable. You would pay a lot more for something branded with similar properties, Cant help with trousers but would imagine they woyld be just as good as all their gear is fit for for purpose.

I recently purchased some vass lightweight combo set which looks good. Not tried it yet but looks decent. Small, compact and comes in it own carry bag.

If you look on hollandscountryclothing they do some bib and brace waterproof trousers by castle too for just under £20.They look really good quality for the price

when I worked we were issued with some waterproofs that were made by that company some of the best waterproofs I have ever used very breathable too and a kind of stretchy material brilliant

Just bought theses , excellent reviews , i can vouch for them being warm , i need to give em a good outing in the rain but they are sold as 100 % waterproof , maybe not the cammo colour people are looking for though , i don't give a monkeys !

I've got a set, vaguely waterproof and non-breathable. If you wear them for any length of time you'll get soaked either from rain or sweat. I'll be investing in a decent set of GoreTex waterproofs and consigning these to the (growing) pile of fishing gear never to be used again......

I have had a set of the Trakker Downpour waterproofs for a couple of years, they are pretty good to an extent but will bleed through eventually, good for the money and good quality 👍
german army flaktarn goretex, best goretex ive ever seen or owned, rugged and strong, my english dpm goretex was half as good, and my german is even better than my bergaus goretex, for lightweight i have a pacajak and that great for keeping in my stuff

Another vote for the German army flektarn stuff. A long day last week in and out every twenty minutes in the rain (bream) Not warm but dry. From memory about £45 for both.

as it gets proper rave reviews from all the back packing forums and in the video the guy walks around for 3 hours in the torrential rain and you can see he is bone dry after
and yes I am a big fan of Flectarn its my go to suit
but the poncho is great I like it as its got proper arms and keeps me dry perfect to just chuck on in the night etc its a completely different thing

Yes the reviews are good but mine leaks very badly the internal seems went white
with moisture
Maybe I've been unlucky , the old bad batch syndrome😂
I own two softies, an elite and a Sasquatch so you could say I'm a fan
I emailed snugpak who quite naturally asked for a receipt
Unfortunately I couldn't find it , so there was nothing they could do
To be honest I'm pissed off
It's a shame they just didn't say ok , send it back and we will take a look
Considering it's under a year old and been used three times , twice during showers
and finally during the rain we had a few weeks ago
I've just had it stored in the pouch provided in my barrow
If I was snugpak and like you I'd like to protect my reputation and see how my product failed
For the sake of thirty odd quid
After reading their return email which was very polite , i just sent them a stinking one and
told them to stick it 👍🏻
Watched Ewan goes hiking on u tube (enhanced patrol poncho review) I guessing the same guy who wrote the review listed below and it does appear wind proof 👍🏻
