If someone is banned from the forum, is it a permanent thing or can they be reinstated

I noticed while reading a thread that someone had been banned, and now I have spotted that they are a member again

To be fair he was just sticking up for a mate, and went too far. A temporary ban seems appropriate to me, hardly a serious offence.

He didn't like the way the thread was going and things that were being said, whether it's right or wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's why this forum is so popular. But this guy was coming out with some ridiculous comments, abusive comments, then he starts to send vial PMs.

He deserves to be banned for behaviour like that. What's the point of a mod stepping in and doing his job only for the ban to be lifted. It's a joke.

And to my mind, what makes it even worse is the fact that the subject in question is close to a lot of people's hearts. Tempers and passion running very high I thought, and this guy came across As nothing but a wind up!

I better not say any more otherwise I will be labelled as someone starting a witch hunt😡😡

The banning of members like skear and Josh was like banning knowledge from the forum. I still see some of the ignorant ****ers that happily wound them up still posting. Love the forum, but I think they got this very wrong

I had a conversation with one of the mods this afternoon'

Apparently on here there is a lifetime ban, or a temporary ban depending on how much of a bad boy the said member has been.

It is also usually at the discretion of a guy called Karl.

To me it's the case of, some of the longer standing members get a slap on the wrist(the original clique), then get let back on, when others get banned and never get back on.

I'm more confused than I was in the first place now

It's got me thinking, just how thin is the ice under my feet

There has always been temporary and permanent bans, depending on what it was that caused the decision for someone to get a ban, it's normally discussed in the Mods room and the Mods make a decision to what happens

And the “guy called Karl” is the forum owner so normally he gets the final say if needed as it's his ball, but generally he lets the Mods get on with things

I've been banned about 4 times thanks to IP address nonsense and other shenanigans.

It isn't difficult. Don't be a helmet to other people and you'll be alright.

On the flipside, with temperatures running hight the occasional incident should not mean a permanent ban. Threats of violence or constant name calling over a long period of time? Yeah, probably best you should stay off the internet let alone off a specific site.

No offence to deaffred but he seems like the last person on this earth I'd offer a brew to... and that's the only member I can say this about on this forum and Josh was a good lad it's clear that some people are just getting old never met him in person just did his bit and tried to help not getting all defensive over a mates dead lake

How sad that some people get banned and are forced to resort to re joining under a pseudonym. when others get banned and are quickly reinstated

The forum is a wonderful place to glean information, discuss current affairs in carp fishing, and obviously everyone is very keen to be part of it

I exchanged a few messages with Josh shortly before he was banned. He struck me as a kid just desperate to be connected in the angling fraternity, quite sad really but probably a reflection of the times.

He had a few funny stories though. The best one was about some oap he knew that was basically living his fishing life off the coat tails of some minor 'celebrity' angler, following him around France trying to get famous off the back of this other chap's angling.

I was led to believe that he was born morbidly obese whilst also being disproportionately affected by gravity. Essentially the older he gets, the shorter & fatter he becomes.
