If you've already got matrix sticks then unless you are looking to change everything, have you considered the Matrix Slinky Patriot Pod, that way you can use what you already own and just buy a pod base.
If you want to change everything then you've got the usual suspects that many on here use, Jag, Solar, or Defiant get consistently good feedback and it comes down to personal choice then of what you like the look and function of.

Ive used a cygnet skyliner pod for my barbel fishing on the rivers for a while now and its been spot on and It gets thrown all over the place, its a bit scratched up but other than that its still works the sane aa the day i bought it. It defo not in the same league as jag or the likes but does the job its intended to to perfectly. I never used cygnet when i was carp fishing mind that was always jag.

I know a guy who bought quite a bit of cygnet stuff, he doesn't fish that much so it hardly got any use. It fell apart very quickly. I can't remember exactly what went wrong with it, it was something like the points all fell out.
I'd avoid it and spend a bit more and get something thats going to last.

I cant comment on Cygnet in general as this is the only piece of their kit I have ,
I guess I have had this for around 18 months now and it is still as good as the day I bought it , nothing is lose or worn and I fish almost every weekend 12 months of the year .
Cant think of anything more to add other than as a pod I would highly recommend the Grad Slam pod ,especially as it has Never let me down .

I've only got the grand sniper rod pod from Cygnet so can't comment really in general on their equipment its probably 2 or 3 years old I guess and is great for adjustability.
Unfortunately, the central extending bar locknut no longer locks the 'inner bar' at whatever length you want it so is useless and not fixed. There seems to be a bit that's detached from the locknut and so I asked Cygnet if I can buy a replacement spare and also some replacement small screws for the buzzer bars which have corroded and oxidised badly (normally pennies).
Cygnet's response is they don't carry spares of either of these items.... sorry!
First and last item of equipment I buy from Cygnet.
I will somehow work out a way to frig a solution around it and try and find replacement screws from elsewhere but I shouldn't have to.
They're still making these rod pods so clearly have parts for them.
I hope this isn't typical of Cygnet but they've just lost me as a customer for anything else. If you cant trust the back up support for any spares or accidental damage to stuff, you are really stuffed if out of warranty.
Hope Cygnet read this and realise their support is well below the standard of other suppliers in this instance.

Id second this.....just get the matrix base and use your existing gear
For the record I use a solar worldwide which is up there. If I was to change (which I wouldn't) I'd go jag super compact black just because I like the look.
As previously said most will do the job. Just depends on your tartiness requirements

I'd avoid anything remotely resembling a Grand Sniper by Cygnet. I had one which fell to pieces when it blew over (in the water.. not concrete)... The welding on the U shape looked like it had been done by a 5 year old.

No decent 5 years old is doing manual work in China anymore, they've either completed their PhD's in nano technology by the time they're four, or are cybersecurity hackers determining who wins foreign elections

it loos pretty useful, am tempted myself for those situations where back sticks not ideal

I bought the jag pod you mentioned last month definitely a good bit of kit mate it replaced my fox black label compact pod, the fox pod isn't even in the same class I found mine just got scratch way to easy and the buzz bars started to move which annoyed me lol

I do love a pod and do get slatted for it.
At the min I'm using the little cygnet quick lock thing folds to nothing with all little 4" sticks
Also have 2 rad pods
I like the defiant fantail but it is a pig to set up and get level
Loved the jag

Noddy always came to mind whenever I saw a pod, and then I took the plunge and it all made sense. None of that faffing about trying to get your setup not looking all pissed and on the wonk. Just roll up, pod out...bingo.

I've had a Fox Quattro pod for donkeys years. Was thinking of" upgrading" to an all stainless pod. Put off by the expense I decided to just upgrade the buzzer bars. I like a wide pod not having to fold handles etc. Matrix bars add weight and are wider and more stable than the original fox bars. If I win the lottery I'll get a solar or summit pod, until then I love what I've got.

I was exactly the same, until I bought the Summit Low Pro - goes up & away in seconds & no faffing trying to get sticks into the ground.

Pods were the preserve of the instant angler. Used to see it loads years ago, some random with a two bob Argos pod setup.

same. Ive had mine years. custom made. wide and low. just the weight and the points mean it digs into anything. wood even concrete.
more than once I've stumbled into it. It doesn't budge and I've got cuts on my legs.
setup for me is quicker than sticks. I'm not fishing places with meadows. It's hard work using sticks.
I have the goalposts all set up in my unhooking mat. just have to join them with the centre shaft and its done.

Those types of pods pack down mega small, yet you've got to get them all set up again. Would make sense just to have them pre setup in a rod bag, with all you having to do is setup the goal posts.

different end of the scale for weight and price. I also have a nash 2-rod knx pod thing. that can also have the goalposts and alarms etc all set up ready to go. even quicker than the Defiant. I use it when I cycle to a nearby lake.

Reminds me of when me and a mate joined a lake with wooden platforms, I went with stage stands and he went with a matrix pod. My setup was miles quicker and more stable.
I've thought of getting one myself at times but haven't found one I like yet

I had one of these the build quality was appalling so much play in the legs and joints, the lok down levers came off the sticks when trying to pull up the inserts. It's a shame I really liked the principal and the design but for the price I expected much better.

Hopefully I'm gonna get the fantail pod if we get our annual bonus from work.( wont be disappointed if we dont get one, as still having a Job is a bonus) ....but this seems the most versatile pod out there...
I like to have my rods and line in a straight line if at all possible, or as close to straight as i can....
I always use single sticks whenpossible...and most of the time it is, as i dont fish lakes with manicured swims and my syndicate is all for as natural looking swims as possible.... so apart from the height of summer when the ground is rock hard i dont really need a pod....

I have a JAG prolite, pack's away to nothing, incredibly light and will probably outlast me. I tend to favour single sticks where I can but you won't go wrong with a JAG pod.

I've got the compact Fantail and it suits my needs perfectly.
Having fished gravel pits for most of my life I can't imagine not having a pod and can clearly remember rushing down to Wickford Angling Center to pick up the original Gardener pod. Game changer.

Matrix, with the shortest slinky rests and adjustable snag bags. Just excellent, folds small, very stable, easy to set-up quickly and very well made. IMO the best on the market. Had mine a while now and whilst I'm no fan of rod pods, when I need one, it does the job. Use mine with both 2 and 3 rod snag bars.

Me too, the amount of bank sticks I went through before the gardner pod. Did use a manky stick to form pilot holes prior to the pod. Screw drivers down the shaft trying to preserve the banks sticks all 32 years ago.
Bought a sod pod in 95 and updated to a Worldwide in 2005, if only the WW was in Titanium.

Love a pod me, anything that makes life easier .... ive had most top end brands over the years which started with the original Gardner pod. I didnt particular rate the Jag Prolite or the N-Brice Carbon (fiddly to get straight(. The best for me has always been how quickly, simple and versatile Defiants Trident or Panther are to set up and use .... But if on a budget the Fox Trek Pod is great value
