Hi everyone,
i am looking at making some pop ups and wanted to know any good flavour combos for them. i am looking at using the nutrabaits range as they all look good. I have had a look at the cajousers, utcs, NI flavours so far and cant decide on which to combo to pick as there are so many!

I'd have to agree that JB's flavours are excellent.

What type of combos do you have in mind?

I had JBs plum and pineapple and didn't rate them personally. Thought they smelt like chemicals to much

Had a few samples from Catchit labs and they've been excellent. Same as BAFS flavours.

I cannot speak for the pineapple, but I honestly believe that the plumb is one of the best flavours out there.

I also rate JB's Dairy Cream too. I have used this as part of a base to mix my own unique mixture.

Also, JB's Ala Salar is pretty pokey stuff. I would be happy to mix that with other fruity/dairy type flavours.

Whenever a well respected company and owner part ways like what happened with Nutrabaits there will always be speculation about if the product and service was as good as before but i have ordered a few bits and found them the same as was the level of service so i would advise being careful of listening to chinese whispers.

If you want to use Nutrabaits go for it and drop them an email and ask them what they would recommend. I emailled them a few weeks ago about some of their products and they couldnt have been more helpful. That way you are getting info direct from the horses mouth as it were

I've used their stuff in the past and they've always been tried and tested combos. Guava nutrafruit with madagascar clove oil, strawberry nutrafruit with bergamot oil and cranberry with black pepper oil.

I still use the original nutrabaits flavours for special wafters & pop ups

good combo's ive found are Sweet Spice & Choc Cream, Cranberry & Tutti, Cream Cajouser on its own
other specials ive done well on are Nutrabaits Strawberry EA & Nash Strawberry Oil Palatant (Unable to get original Nash BIg Strawberry so used original NB) and also John Baker Plum & Minamino

Currently considering using the cajousers as by the sound of them they seem like a must in a bait. so will definetly incorporate one of them in my pop ups.now just need a flavour. or might just use fruit cajouser.so much to choose from!!!

In no particular order, all NB flavours unless other wise mentioned.

Pineapple, Banana and Butyric Acid
JB Maple and Banana.
JB Plum and Caproic Acid
Black Pepper EO and Butyric Acid
JB Maple and Geranium EO.
Tutti-Fruiti and Caproic Acid.
Cranberry or Wonderfruit and Black Pepper Essential Oil
Cheese and Garlic Essential Oil
Caviar, Blue Oyster and Butyric Acid

...and for 500g base mix:

Trigga Liquid at 7ml per egg with 5ml Pineapple and Butyric and 12 drops Geranium EO.
Trigga Ice Liquid at 7ml per egg with 5ml Cranberry and 12 drops Black Pepper.
Corn Steep Liquor at 5ml per egg with 7ml Plum and Caproic.
Trigga Liquid at 7ml per egg with 7ml Blue Oyster UCTS.
Liquid Krill at 10ml per egg with 3ml Blue Oyster and 5ml Caviar.

All the Cajousers work but the Cream is my particular favourite and my "baby" (see SW Memories). Cream can be used as the prime attractor at 5ml in any base mix with either Spice at 2ml or Sweet at 2ml to back it up.

I am fishing a silty water so would the cajousers be able to combat the silt? if not then i will go for there UTCS plum and caproic acid flavour.

i either use cream cajouser on its own or with a drop of minamino. Both really good for special wafters

The problem I have found is that each supplier has a very successful flavour, but that does not mean all of their flavours are good. Take Richworth tutti frutti a great flavour, that does not mean all tutti frutti flavours are good or that all Richworth flavours are good.
You are getting a lot of good advice on here as to what people have been successful with, but if anybody says a particular range are all good then I can assure you that they have never tried them all.
Stick with the classics, JB plum and ala salar, richworth tutti, nutrabaits cranberry and cream cajouser, Nash scopex and SSA, mainline pineapple. Use them in combination for an personal aroma if you want. All of these will catch you loads of fish.
Once you have have some confidence in these you can start experimenting with less well know flavours but be prepared for some disappointments.
Finally my own tip... Iso eugenol... But keep it quiet

I notice you've mentioned minamino a couple of times. Don't suppose you know where its available do you, and I don't mean the stuff with added carp tax that's not stored correctly. I used to get it direct from Ayrton S' but can no longer get it. Cheers for any info, no worries if not.

I used to have a few favourite combinations, but as has been said, not every flavour from one supplier is brilliant, so I had a few brands in the cupboard.

Nutrabaits Pineapple Nutrafruit and Cinnamon EO.
Liver Elite and Sweet Cajouser. Doesn't sound right, but worked well on Trigga.
Pineapple and N-butyric acid, obviously.
Cherry Elite and Eucalyptus Oil.

Rod Hutchinson Megaspice with Garlic Oil. I use Verselle Laga Garlic oil.

The original Rod Hutchinson Scopex with Black Pepper Oil.

As for Iso-eugenol, an extract of cloves, you don't want to know about that...😉😆 but try it with plum...

Unfortunately not mate, my 500ml bottle came from Trent Baits, I couldn't find it away from fishing bait suppliers. It's good though

Dry them out, leave them somewhere for a week and they will be fine. One thing I will say is I applaud your enthusiasm for bait making but my personal experience was that my pop ups never looked or smelled the same as shop brought. In fact it was an expensive experiment. Bear in mind how many pop ups are actually used.

A good tip I got off here ( Christian ) was to Add 5% cork granules 0.5-1.2mm, means you can dry them
More which makes them more buyount and preserved better, easier to roll , and even if hard they take a baiting needle well.

I've only made pop ups with Polaris mix so can't comment on any other mixes, I air dried a week, they were still easy to pierce, after a week pit them up and rehydrate with a few ml of the favour you put into them
