Hi guys, I took delivery of a new Wychwood Tactical Pod today and tried it out in the garden... what a pile of junk!! One of the 2 buzz bar type holders (that 3 banksticks go through) was loose on both ends so when set up the LH rod almost touched the middle rod at the end and the RH rod was miles away from the middle. I contacted them straight away to ask if they could arrange a swap of the faulty part only to be told they don't have spares so I need to return the complete pod back to the company I bought it from.
Whilst looking for a similar style but a little better quality (I am wanting to be able to keep my alarms on singles but if ever needed convert to a pod easily with the plan being to keep the middle section in my bedchair) I found that Sabre do a pod which looks almost identical so most likley out of the same factory which is a no but then found that Century make an almost identical one but in carbon (3.5x the price) and looks much better made. Has anyone on here any experience with Century pods? Are they worth the investment? For £350 I would expect it to last a good few years and at least still be making spares for a while.
Or can anyone recomend any other pods with the singles style (not Korda as not really singles despite the name). Ideally want to find a company who can still do repairs/spares in the future if they even exist anymore rather than a throw away unit.

If you want a single stick type pod set up. I'm with Braders it's got to be defiant. Small volume, Uk built quality service.
If you decide to move away from that style then obviously you'd expect me to say Jag, for all the same reasons listed above, quality, Uk built, proper after sales.
There's a market for all of this Chinese stuff for guys who are on a budget or perhaps don't fish that much and can't justify the expense. But I'm yet to be convinced that any of it is that good or will last anywhere near as long, or take anywhere near the abuse of the gear made by jag and defiant.

Thansk fellas. I used to have a JAG 316 none adjustable pod a few years ago and it was great (I never had the issues some reported with it slipping etc).
I now fish a few waters where there is no real place to put a pod (or even 3 sticks in the same area) so find singles work really well for me. I just like the idea that if I visit a water with a stage or hard standing I can convert the singles to a pod with minimal fuss.
The Wychwood looked ideal for £100 but it was just terrible. The Defiant Titanium one looks great at £225 as to be 100% honest I would have thought titanium was more expensive than carbon.

Keith is on here Defiant.one,his pods are awesome.I have a 2 rod version with grub screw fittings and Keith made it to the exact specification I wanted regarding buzzbar width.Keith was superb to deal with,nothing was to much trouble and when my pod got delivered I was extremely happy.It feels light but strong and very sturdy.Buy with confidence

I've never used carbon myself as I'm a clumsy fecker and I know I will step back one day and tread on a stick. Plenty of guys use it though and say it's as strong as traditional bank ware but I'm not so sure.

The Century Stealth pod is certainly flippin pricey, but for me it has turned out to be an end game pod, the design is as flexible as you could want, built to last and very light. You could buy cheap copies (oh, you did, lol) but they wont last that long IMO..
Keith's gear is great, but you have the additional weight to bear in mind. Again, his pod will last a long long time..

the centre bar screws into each crossbars .... The Panther Titanium is best of the lot for me. It is the third version i have had (had stainless and carbon versions in the past) and I have also had Fox Quattro, Jag Prolite & NBrice in the past

for my two penneth worth . I got myself a titanium panther 3 rod .... waited a while for it but is definitely worth the wait .... strong , stable , straight

Looked at a summit pod and really liked it. However as the only place near me that sold them was AD I went to Yateley instead and ordered a jag micro pod.

Anyone on here used one of MPS Fantails,? They look a little unusual but the practicality of them looks ideal. I rarely use a pod but can definitely see the benefits and flexibility of these and tempted to get one to see, but feedback before taking the plunge would be great if any out there

I've got a fantail - Great bit of kit that suits how I like to fish.
I used to use singles all the time, but now find myself using the pod most of the time.

I to have a fantail although I usually use it as single sticks.
It is a good system and I like the ability to point the rods at the baits, it is also more stable than I thought from pictures.
I do find it a little more fiddly to set up than other pods that I have owned. But it isn't exactly a chore.

I recently purchased the Jag 316, it is pricey, but a really great pod and built to last. Rock solid when it's up and not overly heavy. I can't see me changing anytime soon!

lurchy i really like this design, what do the crossbars pack down like though ? are they easy to store? is there any chance you could take a photo ive studied the website, no big deal if your busy though ill ask keith. For the record i have a Nbrice carbon pod, its great theres nothing wrong with it at all just like the design of the panther its more versatile for sure. With the Nbrice you only really have the one option as the buzzers are on a buzz bar. With the trident you can keep the alarms on seperate sticks and its easier to chop and change to suit . Good thing with high end pods is they tend to keep a decent price when you sell them on as the quality lasts a lot longer.

Sold the quattro pod and bought a fantail best pod ive used had solar pods with the fantail its sticks or a pod the long bars fit in a landing net sleve and all the rest sticks and bar fit in my buzzbar bag simple

The stability is one thing from the pics that is a worry as you say. Looks as though you are better off using stage stands if fishing from a platform which negates the need or benefit of the pod

I had the Nbrice carbon for a while, then changed that for Jag Prolite and then back to Defiant MPS ... The Trident/Panther design is streets ahead imo

I only use it as a pod system on a venue with concrete banks - I have the screw points on my banksticks and even with these it is stable.

I'm a bit puzzled as regards “Stability” worry, with six points of contact with the deck that's 100% more than a pod, and stability all comes from the “Footprint” of anything - bigger the footprint the more stable (Cranes have legs that pop out to make the footprint bigger for stability)
When I used to use a Fantail, I'd quite often sit in between the Rods and have a brew – that's how big the footprint is. On Platforms I used to fit a pair of Bush Mountings, unless there was an earthquake nothings moving.

Not too sure on your preference,but Keith made me one and I specified thumb screws.
Have now removed them and fitted grub screws.Even more weight saving,and looks sleeker.
You won't be dissapointed.
