I really like the look of the Wychwood Tactical bivvy and would buy one if i didnt think the Cayman was so good. Hate velcro groundsheets though (although i rarely use one). Nice to see someone bring out a simple & sensibly designed lighweight bivvy .... Its been a while since i see one

Does it just go up and down as a pram hood?. They never seem particularly fast to me. Looks smart though.

Agreed I have a jrc tx extreme and as good as it is bivvy wise I end up not using the groundsheet because it's such a faff with velcro

If was in the market for a new Bivvy then it would come from either Wychwood or Nash having chosen wisely many years ago I have two that do all I'd ever want and nothing since has tempted me.

After seeing the tactical bivvy set up, I was that impressed that I sold my tempest V2 bivvy and bought one.
I must have had every bivvy on the market over the past 20 odd years, and this is probably the best so far!
It's very lightweight at around 5kg (excluding groundsheet), goes up quickly, utilises the footprint perfectly due to the square shape and flat sides (comparable to oztent or ridgemonkey) so the bedchair is tight against the back panel leaving loads of room. It has excellent rear vents, is very stable, and quite tall which is handy for us with dodgy backs! Best of all is the quality, the material is second to none, especially after using the over rated aquatexx on my past few bivvy's.

My hog has four clips and then Velcro for the majority of the ground sheet align and it settles no drama

Depth is 180, typical "wide" bed is what, 95cm....so you do the maths! With the bed flat against the back you will have as much space again at the front of it and as the roof of the bivvy slopes upwards it will feel even bigger.

Like the look of this. Nice compact footprint.
Surprised people aren't ripping it to shreds - most Bivvies \ Brollies are far too big and WIDE these days.

So the bivvy is 250quid without a door OR 290quid with the clear & mozzy door
Why not sell the bivvy with a clear door as standard, with the mozzy door as optional ? A bivvy should have a door, whereas a shelter doesn´t

Yep, comes with solid door. I bought the mozzy mesh door too (can't moan for an extra £20).
If I was being a moany bitch, I'd say it's a shame that a mozzy mesh isn't integrated into the solid door, so you don't have to change the whole thing over, but I'm not in a moany bitch mood so still happy with life!

The only thing concerning me is the tension bars,if they are anything like the storms poles on the mhr brolly.Both the ones on my brolly now slip and won't lock up properly

It's a bit poo really and when you've got the original door on you've got no ventilation at the front of the bivvy unless you leave it open a bit then the mozzies will be straight in.

The mozzi and clear window should´ve been integrated as one(standard), with the solid door optional, if total darkness is required. Then again, don´t take that long to zip off and change, whenever necessary. I´d probably remove the solid and use the mozzy as standard. Loving the footprint though

You can definitely zip the front off but I cannot remember if there are retaining points to pin the last of the side wings back, I'm pretty sure there is but without getting mine back out I couldn't honestly say.

Just a heads up M&R tackle in Germany are doing the Solar SP Bankmaster Twin rib at a reduced price for €140 odd and the the wrap for €70 odd might be an alternative to the Wychwood

Just FYI. Mine has been returned. There was another thread on the fact they are very difficult to peg out flat to ground. It can be done ok on flat ground but they are near on impossible to peg out correctly on uneven ground....this also includes the wrap. It's a complete ball ache.
I spoke to a very busy tackle shop where I purchased and having spoken to Wychwood agreed to take it back and refund me. I was given the nod that they are aware of an issue with these, hence why they agreed a return.

I had no problem with mine on an uneven swim it was sloping from back to front over approximately 10 inches and falling away to the right.
I followed the PDF for setting up and had no issues.

it's all very well saying keep it verticle, keep it straight but some banks have tree roots and lumps etc.
also i think worse on a level swim than a slope. a level one with humps in it is going to be difficult
most bivvies, if you look, have a bit of extra slack at the front sometimes giving you a bit of a slope and often
multiple pegging points.
when this one is pegged perfect there is not a mm overlap on the ground. looks very neat. but im not sure
how practical it is.

Sorry to hear that mate. Also as there is so little room for error, amyone that recieves one that is just a mm or two shorter than somone else's is going to have a very different experience. This could easily happen

I'm out in mine for the first time now. I get what people are saying about there being no wiggle room, but mine went up fine. If you need to, just bring the sides in a tiny bit and crumple up the gs a bit. Takes a lot longer than my tempest brolly but it's luxury in comparison. I've just put the wrap on and I'm pretty confident you could put two bed chairs front to back next to each other. Material is outstanding and it looks well made. So far, so good. My lake has perfectly flat pegs though.

I'll stick my old evo for now, and will prob buy an AXS or Titan next year.

Only used mine twice. As below really, it's a session bivvy - a brilliant one, but not really ideal for overnighters (with the wrap anyway)
I can't fish my lake because it's in wales, so won't get to use it until the spring I think.
It's amazing design though.
