A question for you, do you think the below is reasonable?
You arrive at a busy day ticket water at 1pm yesterday for an overnight session. You had to leave at 8am today for work.
A chap in the swim next door (25yrs away) was just setting up for a 24hr session. Nice bloke, you have a chat. You mentioned to him you are only there for 18hrs or so and leaving first thing for work. He says he's be staying all day.
It's pretty windy and he was quite alarm happy when setting up and setting his rods (great!) for the next 6hrs his alarms would bleep a couple of times every minute or so, wind tow on the lines you guess. You start to wonder if you're going to get any sleep or if you should ask him to sort it out.
About 9pm the wind dies completely, no more false bleeps, thank god, you might get some sleep!
10pm you get up for a slash and notice he's fully zipped up, doors, windows etc, must be asleep :-)
4.30am you're waken with a start to a screaming run, lovely, you've got a fish! Actually no, it's not your rods it's your neighbour. Oh well, at least someone is going to catch, good luck to him.
You count to 30 and the alarm is still screaming!
Is he there?
Is he still asleep?
Is he sat on the bog?
Is he dead?
Should I hit the run for him?
Then you hear about 10 different zips, things being knocked over, lots of commotion, lights coming on etc. The run stops, he must be into a fish. Thank god for that. You drifted back to sleep, got 2hrs before you have to get up.
15 minutes later, you're awake again with a torch in the face.
"hello mate, my scales aren't working, any chance I can borrow yours, I've got a good one"
You pass your scales without getting up and barely opening your eyes, "yep, no problem, here you go" and try and drift off back to sleep.
15 minutes later, same torch in your eyes.
"Hello mate, sorry to wake you, I know you've got to be up for work early. Any chance you could do a pic for me, no need to get up I've brought the fish/mat with me"
So there you are, half a sleep laying in your bed taking a pic of some random blokes fish
Would you wake someone you didn't know?
Do you think that sort of thing is ok?

The beeping is annoying and the delay on hitting the take is unacceptable.
I don't mind being woken to help out with a good'n but he shouldn't be carrying carp around the lake.
Sounds like he wasn't at all prepared for any of it tbh so to answer your question, no I don't think it's reasonable.

I am concerned that he was 25 yrs away but also impressed with your hearing!!!
In terms of the actual question, only if I have discussed and agreed it with them during the day. I have on several occasions woken someone and in turn been woken at day ticket venues (and syndicate to be honest) but on each occasion we have agreed with each other to do so. I would hesitate to do this without prior agreement and would look at self takes

The way I see it, it's acceptable to wake someone if it's a fish they would be interested in seeing.
No-one wants to be woken for a stocky (unless its a very special one).

I love waking my boys up for a chat. It normally takes the rest of the session for them to stop moaning about.
But I wouldn't do any of this blokes antics with a stranger

When i read day ticket i had an inkling where this was heading and I was right.
Loud alarms, long runs, crashing, banging and zips........ surprised you didn't mention tripping over beer cans or the god awful smell of skunk drifting across in the wind

So he seemed like a nice bloke when you first spoke to him and as a bloke outside of fishing he's probably fine but as an angler he's a knob.
As regards photo's at night when I speak to my neighbour that's the sort of thing I would talk about before hand.
As regards moving the fish to you swim I'll admit to have done this in the past, my reasoning is if it's not too far, I can do it safely, it means the fish can be returned more quickly and all of that criteria can be met then I would consider doing it. Must stress that this is not a regular occurrence.

No way would I wake any angler in the middle of the night when he's got to be off early for work. Yes I would of hit his run if he's tossing it off asleep. It's not the fish's fault he's unconscious.

As has been said below. If we'd chatted about night pics or helping out before that's fair enough I think. More than happy to help someone out, even during the night if it's been discussed.
To be fair, he was only about 25yrds away so I think carrying the fish over was pretty safe as it was one of those frame cradle mats.
He did take a while to get to the take, far longer than I'd expect. I think this was due to getting out the bag, putting on boots (maybe even a coat!) undoing the door zips etc.
It wasn't the noise of the zips Wayne (I'm not that grumpy! lol) , I think that's what took the time.

Totally unacceptable and I thought you were quite mellow about it all.
However you did make two mistakes.
The first was when you had your first chat.
You should have asked him if he could swim.
Your second was when he was setting up and being a pain with his alarms.

id say its pretty good for day ticket carping, some places ive fished up north this would be a good night
I remember years ago (probably the last time I bothered with the Linear day tickets) having set up on the road bank on Hardwick, late afternoon a van load of herberts roll up and set up right next to me, fair enough I suppose. After about an hour the guy right next to me came round and asked if I had a spare spod he could borrow, being a **** I said yes, 20 minutes later and said spod is cracked off never to be seen again, great I think, but maybe he'll come and apologise or offer me a few quid, did he ****, next morning, having spent most of the night raving they all scarpered, not sure they even bought tickets!
It gets even better....there was a similar thread to this shortly afterwards and I posted about the incident, I then got an abusive PM from someone claiming to be the **** who lost my spod...

One of the last times I fished a day ticket was 2017. I found some fish and dropped the bucket to get my gear only to find it had been nicked when I got back. I set up anyway and had my rod bag nicked during the night (serves me right for having it leaning up against a tree I guess). Next day I was offered drugs by some nipper before watching a group of piss heads have a 6ft bonfire across the way in the evening. Next morning I packed up at 7am after some lad started launching leads across my lines.
I wont mention the name of the place as it's normally a decent fishery but that weekend was just one of those ridiculous sessions that puts you off day tickets for a long, long time.

Agree.
Second one was fishing a day ticket. I am in no doubt there is still some decent people about, there are also a lot of **** wits. It's a lottery, yer pays your money and you take yer chances

I wouldnt dream of waking anyone unless it was an emergency, only done it once when a fish got snagged on the surface in lillie pads for about 15 mins and there was no shifting it without the boat, which was on the bank in his swim. Turns out it was snagged on about 50 yards of braid.

Maybe he's inexperienced as a couple have said. We have all made errors of judgement in our fishing past. I wouldn't wake anyone for a photo but then I don't bother my backside with photos anyway.

I've been woken before and I can't say Ive ever had a problem with it, work night or not. I would wake someone if I had something good that I needed help with, but prefer doing self takes anyway. If I wanted a good nights sleep though, I certainly wouldn't be doing a quick overnighter on a day ticket water, its always going to be a gamble

I'm pretty open minded live and let live but yesterday and Tuesday made me twitch a bit. Set up cast out, one guy two pegs down fishing to island, I'm in open water. Nobody else on my side of lake and nobody opposite on any pegs. Guy in his 40s/50s with good gear arrives and sets up next to me. All fishing minimal bait (hook bait and small bag) in winter. 2 hours later I landed a nice 24 common. Within the hour new guy has moved and is opposite me spodding on top of my rigs. Night falls another guy arrives and sets up next to me and spends an hour spodding within 20 yds of my rigs using his head torch. No more fish for anybody. They both leave at first light. What is that about. Anyway had 2 twenties after they left, had to wait a while.
