I've been saying for years we need a new technology in bite alarms. I see these guys came up with something new.

Did anyone at Brentwood see them? What are your thoughts?
Brutal market to break into. They have a job on their hands.

Look like they are incredible bits of kit. I am sure pricing will reflect the technology though.
Probably the least fishy related thing to pick up on but the logo & speaker on the alarm looks like an Illuminati logo!!

Must admit I considered that but reading the blurb if they're smart enough to figure all that out I'm pretty sure they've made sure it's line friendly. I'm guessing the stylus' will be de-burred and maybe even flexible. I guess it's no worse than a delkim which uses what looks like some kind of ceramic which if anything will be more abrasive.

Agree, pricing will be a big one. I think they'll struggle to sell at RX+/TXI-D prices with no reputation behind them.
I am loving the tension sensing, looks like it works by sensing movement on the outer stylus' against the central one. The programming would have to be the nuts to prevent false beeps though.

Anyone who knows me will confirm that I'm very much function over form, but by crikey these would test even me. I haven't seen anything so ugly since I last looked in the mirror.

Yeah i think the tech seems to be pretty spot on but with the tensioning thing there is going to be plenty of big pit guys that have to battle undertow and these will be picking it up, even on the least sensitive setting. Wonder if you can turn it on and off, doesnt seem like it but could be a huge negative for big pit and river anglers?

You can turn it off manually or have it on automatic adjustment. I struggle to see how that would work, I can't see how any algorithm could detect the effects of changing conditions. I'll be well impressed if they can though.

Maybe I should read properly - direct quote from the website
"The Dynamic Force Sensor excels at filtering out bites from ‘false-positives' caused by rain, wind, waves and water currents and can detect and respond to a wide variety of sensor inputs related to acceleration, rate of change, rhythmic patterns, etc."
So it seems it can detect what's false and what isn't, but like you said that seems impossible unless you put a node in the water to the alarm know the flow rate, tow rate, or whatever? If the tech allows this sensor to know the difference between a carp tightening the line as opposed to a sinking leaf touching it then these are truly something of a miracle alarm. Like I mentioned before though, that sort of tech will not come at a cheap price.

Do people really need this level of sensitivity?
Pike/perch fishing etc with free running leads on small still waters on still days yes I can see an advantage.
But for general carp fishing I think it would be more of a hindrance than a help.
That said I've always used rollers wheels and who knows how many fish I've lost by not hovering over my rods day and night and hitting every single tremor of the line...

Wasn't the Nash Siren supposed to detect drift from bites etc? Mine didn't seem that special and got moved on after a couple of months.
The Bytes certainly won't win any beauty contests, they have a lopsided, deformed look about them - I can fully understand the illuminati reference (after googling illuminati that is). But it's all down to performance and I would love a play with a set.......

Surely by the time that ANY bite alarm sounds, the fish is hooked?
You don't see many people fishing for twitchers these days!
From that point of view, a £15 alarm is as good as a £150 alarm.

Patents still pending, company registered in 2016
Looks to me like a hobbyist.
Unless they get some serious cash behind them and the ergonomics of the product improved I can't see them making a dent on what has become a crowded market.

Stylus made from stainless steel, no doubt it will be robust but line running against steel 304 or 316?, I'm out...
Doesn't look like they made much of an impression as a few lads were at the show according to the Brentwood thread but no feedback on these.

Bite alarms were originally made by hobbyist Dick Walker and many - no most of the improvements over the years have come from hobbyists of one sort or another. But find a niche in a market where £120 will get you a reliable set of three plus a good sounder right up to the named whistle and bell outfits, that's where the problem lies.
Maybe, just maybe the Byte will blow us away....... maybe.

I'm not surprised a small scale start up that has not even sold a single product yet didn't spend a lot of money on a fancy stall and pay the premium for a 'hot' stall location at a big show. Looking at other show exhibitors lists it doesn't look like they are at any others either.
Hopefully more info on social media coming soon and opportunity for people to view the in the flesh and see what they are about

Nice.
Nice.
These had completely passed me by. So I just looked up their Facebook page. They look awful. So cluttered. Zig zags and lines all over them. All the dials and leds shoved over one side. A right mishmash of styles. Way too many buttons crammed together. In fact way too many buttons full stop. And why are the screws silver/stainless? Most manufacturers try to hide the fixings holding stuff together?
They make the nonsense buttons of the txi-d look minimalist.
I wish you all the best but for those reasons, I'm out.

Agree. Until very recently all we had were rollers that can freeze and delks that weren't waterproof. The new delks fixed that by the looks of it but for me the market has been in desperate need of a new player to push things forward with a different concept entirely. It is great to see someone trying to do that imo.
I couldn't care less what they look like.

I couldn't give a monkeys what a bite alarm looks like, much more interested in what happens inside and that they go beep when they should. And I probably spend about 30 seconds a session using the dials.
Be interested to hear more about what these can do.

I'm still waiting for an alarm that connects with bluetooth to an ear piece or hearing aids, its got to be better than hearing someone turning their Delk receiver on and off several times a day, isn't it?

The adverts and reviews barely mention it Jim, but both the K9 and S9 alarms will connect to your phone easily. You can adjust tone, sensitivity etc through that way. I used my headphones through my phone on one session, in the way you are suggesting, and it worked fine but I prefer using the vibration setting on the phone and receiver. I had the S9 set as an Xmas treat, I haven't succeeded in getting a bite with it yet but I imagine it works as well as my K9 alarms

Just remembered Des, I have an accessory which they call a Mic, it has a 3.5 jack socket so it can be connected to the TV or any other source of audio, it transmits the sound to my aids, if you are only using 1 alarm I can see this may work, BUT if you are using more you may need a 2 or 3 into 1 lead as you can only connect to 1 thing at a time, I will give it a try at some point and post the results.
Just tried my theory out on the Fox NTX alarms, plugged the 3.5 jack plug into the NTX
and the other end into the"mic" turned everything on, instead of getting a bleep it was a clicking sound
Oh well back to the drawing board

I had a look at these at the northern angling show, very very technical, the weight of the line is measured, the heads that are cast out near your hook link transmits movement to the alarm head..he wouldnt commit to price but says he is using this set up.

yep,the 4 hooklinks on the left of the picture have sensors on them, the big black transducer type thing next to the hook links gets thrown in the margins, this receives the signals from the sensors on the hook links,he did say how much movement is required to register on the alarm head but I cant remember tbh.
the alarm head itself measures weight of the line, movement of the rod aswell as all the usual line movements.

Look at the size of the receiver thingy that you have to drop in the margins, for scale that's an alarm head in the foreground. Seriously who's gonna lug that lot around?
Either I'm seriously missing something here, and I'm prepared to accept I might be, or this might just be one of the most crack pot ideas to emerge in carp fishing in the last decade.
So unless I'm mistaken, these transmitters and receivers and supa technical alarm heads etc are designed to tell you the leads moved? You mean just like a twenty quid fox microns been doing for twenty five years?
And all this extra weight and faffing about and charging stuff up and lugging round a large breifcased sized box gives you the ability to eliminate false bleeps? Like every alarm with a sensitivity dial can already do?
I don't know anything about the guy that's invented this contraption, but I'm willing to guess he's got mad white hair and that he invented this after he slipped and banged his head on a toilet. If anyone spoke to him at a show, did he mention a flux capacitor?

Design over function. Maybe the Orientals will make it smaller, lighter and cheaper - but I still wouldn't buy it.
