Hi All,

Looking for some reviews from anyone who has used this, or heard from any first-hand users. Saw this for the first time in the shops the other day and was amazed by just how small it is - looks seriously cool and can't help thinking I may have to invest.

Anyone got one?

Love mine. It was the pack down size that sold me. Pod, alarms, buzz bars and swingers all in the small jag bag in my rucksack.

Very light
Very small
Legs and length easily adjustable
Not great on a sloping bank as the uprights are too short.
Get yourself one or two JAG banksticks to overcome the above.
Paint stays on .
Can be pegged down.
Very stable.
No twist on the uprights.
Looks cool as ****.

There's a load of pics on here somewhere and somebody kindly put a pick up of the pod using bankstick's, looked very tidy

There's a couple of new jag products being teased on their Instagram page.

There's a camera self take stick, which is like an excavator but with height marks on it, and a nifty spring loaded rod lock for use when fishing with rod tips high or maybe river fishing.

It gets carpy at 50 and super carpy at 100+ so dont understand why they went so low actually... it is as if they dont want to be the best!

Won't upset me. I don't work for them. I'm a tight arse. I wouldn't personally pay £65 for camera stick, same as I wouldn't pay £60 for a set of distance sticks. But there are plenty of people who will. Look at the crazy prices that the Korda sticks were selling for on eBay when the initial production runs had ended. Plenty of people want to buy quality stuff that's going to last. I guarantee that the initial run of these sticks will sell out. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if shops are already getting asked for them.

Just for balance, the camera stick is £10 more expensive than the same sized excavator stick, but the camera stick comes with the Tommy bar, a drop in spirit level and the camera adapter, so that's where the extra tenner goes.

The camera stick isn't going to be for everyone, but check out the digging stick. It really is a great little bit of kit. Very light. Takes up no room and because of the excavator head it chews into anything. You simply wind it into rock hard ground or gravel, then wind it back out. Leaves a perfect hole for a bankstick. It's one of those products that you didn't realise you need, but once you try one you'll be sold. Especially for people who are worried about marking black blank sticks or people who use cheaper banksticks or carbon and don't want to risk bending them. And at less than £20 it's a jag product even braders can't bitch about. :-)

What I would say is that I reckon as simple a product as this is it's gonna be a huge seller wilth all the guys who fish gravel pits. So if you do want one then get your tackle shop to order you one in now as I reckon they are gonna sell out very quickly.

Actually yeah I think you might be right on that. I was thinking it was only the longer length ones.

Pretty sure Keith has made digging sticks for years and does a Ti one for about a score.

I use the Dinsmores ,HD banksticks for my selftakes....very light,very strong.....and very very cheap...Very good screw point on them as well.....

I have one of Keith's digging sticks, brilliant but of kit I now wouldn't be without, also makes a rock solid snag bar if your fishing up a margin 👍

Using mine for half a year now,
light, solid and very compact, great little rodpod

I have never ever seen any jag gear in the flesh...

So am I right I could cover all my bases with this micro pod?..

Four pro lite bank sticks, plus the two plus one bars=literally two plus one,which is my preferred style...

Or using the adapter I could turn the two rod bars into a three rod on the pod,or two bankstick set up,yeah...?

Is jag any good,and does it scratch easy, and how light is it compared to a sod pod..?

I use my 2+1 bars on single sticks, as goal posts or on my compact pod, depending on the situations. I've not managed to scratch my sticks yet. I sold my sod pod with triposts etc as I wasn't using it since changing to jag black. There was a noticeable weight saving.

I really like the micro pod, if I didn't already have a compact pod I'd definitely go for one. It's quality and very versatile. I just can't justify having two pods!! But of the two the micro covers more situations

Used it for years never had a complaint. Fannied around with cheap stage stands for years the jag ones with the built in driver, the fit of the driver in the stand so its central to the screw is top drawer presicion stuff

It has to be good to replace my mint ol skool solar..or I stay the way I am...👍

Half a kilo on for a pod doesn't make much difference to me, bringing an extra 2 litres (for example) of water negates any weight saving. It's the pack down size and neat design I like.

Lightweight yes, but still compact and last for ever.

I had the 316 adjustable pod and swapped to the black version to save weight.

How does this micro pod differ apart from pack down size? Any benefits? The JAG Black adjustable pod is already very lightweight and compact

The only benefit I can see is it screws down to platforms . Obviously the 2+1 bars are a massive benefit . Can the 2+1 bars be used on the original pod ?

Yes the 2+1 can be used on the pod

I use 2+1s on a compact pod but I feel you need to have the bars extended even if you are only using two rods, as it's a bit narrow otherwise and not as stable as when using wider bars. The advantage of the micro pod is that because of its splayed out legs, it's still very stable even when used with narrow bars like the compact two rod types.

The micro pod comes into its own when snag fishing due to the ability to peg it through all four feet. Personally if I was fishing on platforms a lot I'd use the stage bites.

I think it's a bit tight that JAG only supply one carabiner on the adjustable pod even though there are anchor points front and back. I just added an extra one and peg or screw down one or both as needed. Just keep a couple of metal washers with the screws. Saves having to renember/carry stage bites.

I used to carry excavators, a pod, and stage bites. The JAG pod does it all and saved me a load of weight. From memory the whole lot weighs about 800 grams and that's with 5”, 7” and 9” banksticks. Normally use 5” & 7”, and only need the 9” on sloping banks or if want rod tips high or low.

Bought myself a nano pod and buzz bars in the sales after Christmas.

Like most of the people on this forum, I have bought many (many!), bits of kit over the years, but this is one of the best.

Great design and beautifully made / engineered.

The bag it comes in fits perfectly into the larger side pocket on my rucksack- very light and very compact when broken down- weighs less than the bank sticks, stabilisers and buzz bars I was using before.

Used it yesterday for the first time-works as well as it looks.

Stable, solid, perfect height and quick to assemble / disassemble.

Really impressed!

looking at getting one of these.... 2 questions if anyone can help

- there is a micro pod and nano micro pod - online it says they are the same extended however the nano packs down smaller? can anyone confirm the major difference? if they are essentially the same outside of being extended surely getting the micro pod instead of the nano makes sense - I dont see why you would get the same pod with less extension potential.

- for the 2 plus 1 buzz bars... are 2 x rear too small/narrow to hold 3 rods set up unless extended?

I don't have a local stockist to check the above hence asking.

Hi tom.

The difference in size is the carbon insert length. The longer bar won't fit in a two rod buzzer bag, only a three rod bag. So if someone already has a two rod bag, like me, and they decided to buy just the pod bar, they'd be pretty pissed off if they then also had to buy a new piece of luggage just because of it.

You'd need to open up the rear 2+1 bars to get three big pit reels on them. They are a very compact bar. If I get time later I will take a couple of photos in the garden of them set up open and closed so you can see the sizing seeing as you can't get to a shop.

Thanks on the buzz bar. If you can't fit 3 big pits (basias) on the rear un-extended can you get them on 2 x front un-extended, or does both bars need to be extended regardless?

To be honest I don't think I've ever tried to use them with three rods in the closed position. I will let you know later but I reckon it would be stupidly tight. Lots of guys do by x2 fronts rather than a front and back at the shows. I use the std front and rear without issues. My reels are entohs.

Both bars need to be extended regardless. You wont fit 3 Basias on them with out extending.

thanks mate - I assume however if you get 2 x rear these work well if using two rods with the middle removed. makes a more snug set up rather than 2 x front

Yes you could do that if you wanted. The only difference would be that tour rods would run parallel, if you had the front and rear bars your rods would angle away from one another.

I don't really change my gear very often. I tend to just change stuff if it gets knackered. I don't really treat my stuff very well so I'm probably not the best person to buy expensive stuff cos I'm so clumsy. My rods, reels, alarms etc are all old. My barrow was until recently an original carp porter from about twenty years ago. My rod bag is a Union Jack Aqua quiver that's god knows how old. I try to by well made stuff that will last and then I don't change it. Even my jag stuff is a mixture of old style points, some never lever stuff, some thumb wheels. I've got black sticks that I use on a grey pod. Etc etc.

I've got a set of Enthos I still use. Bought them about 15 years ago, really like them.

I only bought some new reels a few months ago because I fancied black

No doubt the Entoh's will come back out when I'm bored of black and want something with a bit of bling lol

It looks pretty naff to me can not understand what all the fuss is about.
