Ive had all the coolboxes you mentioned and without doubt the Iceytech is the best the Coleman with 2 x 2 litre frozen water bottles lasted for 3 days where as the iceytech was still frozen after 5 days

Agree have both ,used both in Italy in scorching heat !! Icey tek out preformed my Coleman.

Icytech a proper resin cool box .

yes I know Icey tek will out perform a coleman

And at over £100 more expensive than a coleman I would want it too !! but my Coleman has definity kept 2 litre bottles of frozen water with ice in for 5 days lots of times

bottom line if you want the best and dont mind spending lots of money get an Icy Tek

but if you want a really good cheaper version get a Coleman I kept bait Frozen in my coleman for weeks simply by every 3rd or 4th day (temp dependant) buying a fresh bag of ice up the local supermarket when getting the Baguettes

I watched the video Gerry, agree it looks the best compromise on cost vs performance. Any idea how long the Coleman will keep boilies for with little ice around them? If it is filled (pre-chilled) with frozen boilies, will they last a full week?

iy tek hands down.i have 2 x95l and a 55l .plus 2 broken 110l coleman xtremes .the hinges on the lids go brittle in the sun.icey teks are 10yrs old and going strong.colemans about 5 years!

Used it at the weekend in the heat and it was still cool. No idea how it compares to the others, but I like it!

My igloo is the maxcold 47. Last year in 38ish degree heat mine was packed with frozen boilie and milk to start, then when we got there half the bait was taken out and replaced with the beers. They were drinkable in an hour tops, and the bait and milk stayed frozen solid for 3 days, and was still part frozen after 5day, even wit opening and closing fairly regularly. My mate had his battery powered box there and the igloo was getting beer cold faster. They come up on special offer sometimes on ebay, I paid less than £50 for my one.

I've got the same Coleman box the one thing that lets it down is that it's not completely air right a couple of years ago I took it to France and whilst on the ground ants managed to get inside 👎 yes it was shut correctly and I had my spot bucket on top.

I've got a Coleman that I use for family camping trips. Whatever their outlandish claims are in terms of keeping ice frozen (can't remember) are absolutely not true. However, as has been said, if you want the best it will cost a lot of money. There are companies like Yeti that make amazing bits of kit but they are mega money. I think the Coleman is about the best compromise and I did a lot of reading and research before buying mine.

I bought an igloo this year and my beer is still chilled an day 4 ,make sure you chill it before you fill it ,I use 4 cooler shock too and they do well to keep everything chilled

Iv this old thermos cool box it you fill it with cold beer and pour ice over it to fill all the gaps it's cold after 3 days of replacing cold beers for warm beer. Think I bought it for a festival about 10 years ago 1 of my good carboot buys lol

HI never done a weeks fishing but from camping experience the Icytek (got a 55l one) is great and will keep ice for days. Built like a tank (weighs as much to), had ours for 8 years and still like new.
Did just buy an iceQ portable fridge for £60 (32l) and if you have access to power (runs on 12 & 240v) then this is brilliant also. Will cool 20oC from ambient and can also be set to heat (not sure why this would be good but anyway).

For next year i gonna buy a gas fridge, anyone knows some good ones?

I use an igloo keeps things very cool for 3 days then slowly loose its chilliness always freeze a couple of bottles of water to bring the temp down.

I have a Dometic one and it's brilliant. Had it for about 10 years now I think. Actually using it now and been fishing since Sunday morning. It's best if you plug it in at home to chill it down before you go but it will chill down straight from the gas bottle but I'd say it's a struggle. I've had ice packs and some frozen bait in there since Sunday and just been back to my van to get some more bait and food and the ice packs and bait are still frozen

If you have it on the bank with you like I've done before then try and keep it in the shade as I think they work on the outside temperature or something like that? So if it's in the back of your van it will be really cold inside but if you have it in the sun on a hot day then not so much, but guess that's just common sense lol

These look decent and not too expensive.

Are Yeti boxes worth the money,they look very well made

If you pack properly then igloo will keep stuff frozen for 5 days and then cool for another couple

Mobicool FR40 and 90Ah leisure battery. Adjustable down to freezing and good for 4 days without hookup. Never used mine for fishing, but would on a trip abroad.

I'll second the Dometic - approx 30 Litre capacity. Had mine since 2004 and its still going fine.

It can run on Mains, Car battery (via Cigarette Lighter), and Gas (screw-top cannisters)

As already mentioned, start it off on the Mains at home. I also connect it up in the car for the trip to the lake.

Another tip is to try and minimise the number of times you open it or else you undo all the benefits.

With a 500g gas canister the fridge can last 3 days - just over 2 if you are running it on Max ...

I bought an Iceytex 40 litre and used it in France last week in a heatwave temps over 30 most days and kept food frozen for 4/5 days and the rest was still chilled at day 7 big thumbs up from me

I have a 25 litre iceytek and the 26 litre coleman extreme for me the iceytek if cost isnt an issue

Didn't want to start a new thread. Need a new Cool box for camping with the kids. Any ground breaking new ones? Going by reviews on here I'm thinking igloo maxicold

Coleman Extreme would be a good choice and not silly money I had the wheeled 47 L version it was fine for 4 days

BUT !!!!!! IF YOU HAVE ? loads of money Icey-Tek would be the daddy but its about £200 more than a Coleman extreme not sure extra performance is worth the extra money ?

As Gerry has said Coleman extreme is a good compromise between quality and cost .
I have the 50 which we use for family camping trips. Keeps stuff cold for 4 days no problem.
Top tip. Cover it with a damp towel and it gives you an extra day.

If anyone wants a Coleman extreme I've got one at home in white it's the same size as the one Gerry linked in the Igloo v's Coleman vid post #16.
If you want it and are happy to come and collect local to Hereford you can have it.

After being frustrated by the performance of most of the Carp branded gear I needed a smallish cooler that I could leave in the car at work before I go fishing.
I ended up buying this Dometic which holds enough food for 3-4!nights for me, that's stuff that needs to be cool by the way.
It'll also hold a 2pt milk upright.
I have left this in the car for 24hrs in 30 degree heat and the ice blocks I put in where still 50% frozen, really top bit of kit.

I bought a Coleman extreme 52, this year for the summer.

I only do 48 hours on the bank but by the morning of day two my milk and other items are as cool as if they've been in a fridge .

I use two 1lt bottles of frozen water and by day two they still have more ice than water in them. Pretty sure they'd be fine for three nights.

Downside is the bulk of them and the weight, but its worth it for the fresh meat and milk on the warmest of days.

I have the Coleman extreme. For me it's perfect. Mine keeps ice frozen for three days (I have 4 1l bottles of water in mine). It stays freezing cold for four days. I only ever do three nights max.

I take a pack of Magnum double raspberries. They are the ********. The cool box is 100% worth having just for them.

I'm the same, I only wanted a small one, ended up with a cheapo tesco one and lined it with an extra layer of 12mm Kingspan and added some catches to lock the lid properly. Even the smaller good ones were bulky as hell!
I just keep frozen water and the odd bevvy in there and transfer a frozen bottle to a small cool bag with the food in.

I'm tempted to make one to fit the front of the barrow

40l . Sorry, but its a lot. Anything that needs chilling or to be packed frozen for a weeks session for one plus ice packs/frozen bottles is no problem. It will stay cold for a week session. Great bit of kit if you regularly fish longer sessions. Overkill for days/short sessions.

I havent tried yet mate but you will get shed loads of food in. 25l is more than big enough if its just food but i like to have a few cans with me so the 40 was a better option. They are very big compared to the actual space you get inside but that is due to the thickness of the walls and the foam insulation which is why there so good. I think the lid is nearly 70mm thick theres that much insulation in it. The walls are about 4 times thicker than the wifes igloo cooler. The dometic is good but no where near in the same league as the icy tech and the icy tech isnt much more than the dometic.

Cool boxes uk who are the sole distributer for icy tech have a cracking looking little 15 litre cool box by iced coolers on there website for pre order if you prefer a smaller compact cool box. Nice stainless handle as well which is a nice touch. It looks very much like the icy tech ones. Not cheap mind at £130 but comes with two gel packs, divider you can slot in and two mesh baskets.

It has about 4 times the insulation and industrial hinges and handles which is where the weight comes fromIt will keep things a lot cooller and for a lot longer and much better made than a coleman though.

What is a lot longer tho? My coleman will keep my bottles frozen more than 3 days how I use it, my doctored tesco jobbie will actually do about the same at about a third of the price of the coleman, and fits 1.5l bottles

Easily twice as long. I couldnt be bothered with doctoring stuff to make it better. The price of the icy techs isnt an issue so would rather just buy the best cool box you can buy and it will last forever. Ive had a couple of colemans over the years and they have all broke in one way or another so it dosent really work out any cheaper in the long run. Im going to order a 25 litre icy tech as well as my 40 litre is a bit big for overnighters.

One thing I would say about the 25L Iceytek vs the 45L is that you need to make sure its packed full of really cold/frozen stuff to get the most from it. I have found that it doesn't keep stuff as cool as the bigger one as passive cooling needs as much cold stuff as possible to sustain a low temperature.

Might just stick with the bigger 40 litre then. Probably a bit pointless spending another £140 when the 40 is not to much bigger than the 25. I can get two gel packs in the 40 so will perform better.
