Sorry can't do links off my phone but this is a nice interesting video about both barrows

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMSidpMfMMo&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR1eSQH1SgDT_5YOrgApQ7sxi9BOKtsDwFQGm6CW1ge4vf7T7HGrYZUfmFU

Think he's been a bit picky on some of the Nash barrow things like moaning about where the handle assembly cable is as the power porter has pretty much the same and also about the battery compartment getting damp yet the power porter one is just in a bag

I love my power porter and not had any issues with it but the Nash one failing to get up that gentle slope is a joke

Love my power porter. Based on that video, the nash is junk. Had mine up much steeper hills than the one the nash failed on

Wow

Another quality Nash product. What a bag of ****. Yet again you've gotta wonder if anyone actually tested this outside of the warehouse. Surely it not being able to pull up a slope would have been picked up fairly early on. And being able to jam it on with the control switch? Really? You can't tell me they've tested that. Wheels that wobble? On a £800 barrow. I've got a forty quid wheelbarrow in my garden with better axles than that.

What a joke.

Hey Alan. Perhaps you should spend a bit less time fishing and a bit more time making sure you ain't selling **** to people. Or that business you think you're gonna inherit when nashy retires might not be there.

It was always a bit ambitious building a motorised barrow when they can't make a bag that holds together imo.

Lol. A very fair point. I guess it's a good job the barrow doesn't have any zips on it.

Not sticking up for nash as I'm not a fan of their gear but my Dad owns one and after having a go with it the only thing I agree with is the handles being too low. And it goes up higher slopes the that while his own 12v barrow wouldn't and would require disengaging the motor to push it manually.

The vid to me just seems like he's bitter about something.

Edit: After watching the video again, he's even clueless about how the switch on the barrow pressure sensitive so I would take everything else with a pinch of salt.

After watching that , and owning a Power Porter.
I feel I can safely say what and expensive load of Crap the Nash thing is in comparison .

Their was no competition for Prestigue after watching that ,

I agree ... Seems "staged" to me to show the Nash in poor light ... I suspect that having a competitor in the power barrow market has ruffled feathers. Still, let's not let spoil the bandwagon jumpers fun

There was a chap who posted on here a while back who'd had similar issues with his, he complained his pulled to one side and wouldn't go up hills.

He said his was bought for him as a present so I doubt it's the same guy from the video.

If I was to buy a electric barrow it would be the power porter just because of how long they have been around.

However I now own a Nash Trax Evo and the build quality is a lot better than the previous 2 prestige barrows I've owned.

I think I'll wait for a more professional and balanced view on this

I'd love avid to bring out a powered version of their barrows as the design and storage is so much more well thought out than the powerporter

My Dad has owned both and I have used both of them and both of them have their pros and cons, both of them have their flaws, take away the branding and logos I think people's opinion would change. In my eyes though the trakker Access barrow is the best barrow on the market

The badges have no relevance here , one could go up the hill the other one couldnt , simple as that ,and although you may love you current barrow you still have to push it , so can never be the best on the market compared to power.

I'm not here putting power barrows down just stating my personal view, i have medical conditions that don't require a power barrow yet but if it gets to that stage i will get one. but the benefits of pushing or wheeling a barrow should not be discounted!

id dismiss that blokes review. he had the cable set up wrong side of the handle, handles to low. should of raised rear wheels. or used the normal rear legs that come with the Nash barrow. as for it running away on its own he obviously had rigged the trigger. and mine certainly goes up a steeper hill than that one he tested on. so in all the review was a load of ****.

i think this has got out of context here, I recently brought a new barrow and looked at power porter but decided against it as i did not think i needed one or wanted one at this stage. I'm not advocating only those with medical needs should or should not have one. Its personal choice and my choice is 2 trips and save some money

I'm very anti Nash and so what that's my opinion their gear is **** their attitude towards customers is even worse. The guy I dealt with on the phone was very rude and abrupt about the titan brolly I had that would not peg down.I took it back to the shop who charged me a 10% restocking charge but I got a mate to go buy the brolly after it was on sale again.Guess what he had the same problem.Never used the shop since and not bought anything from Nash either

having watched the video again ill say he didn't rig the power trigger but actually pushed it right which isn't meant to be done it pops it off the spring, no wonder the barrow went off on its own. Easy to put back in place also I just tried it on mine.

Yeah maybe but he is entitled to his opinion obviously.I have had faults with things not just with fishing gear but it's how you are dealt with that always stays in my mind.I was never rude to the Nash guy on the phone as I'm not rude to people in general but when he started getting arsey then of course I had my say back.I was also civil in the shop as I had used them for a good while but when he charged me 10% and was getting a member of staff to put up signs to say about the charge as he kept my money really boiled my piss.
I kept calm and told the owner I would never step foot in his shop again and I have not done since that day

the guy on the vid prob don't even own any of the barrows so just putting his 10 pence worth in for a bit of fame. all I know is I have had my Nash barrow now coming up to 3 months and its not missed a beat.and it certainly climbs hills a lot bigger than the guy said it didn't. I'm not slating the prestige ones nearly went for that first but its width let me down on the narrow paths around my syndicate. if my Nash gone falls apart within the year ill let everyone know. but until then anyone thinking of getting one ignore the video.

Had a very similar experience with Nash customer service when I rang about my ss3 sleep system. Run by kids was the impression I got . Trakker seem to have stepped their game up a bit recently. I've also found prestige to be pretty good to , granted they were **** but once they sacked off the mockney cockney plastic gangster who used to pick up the phone things improved no end

Well just joined a 40 acre pit, my old prestige evo got me round but I was sweating like an Iraqi bus driver after reaching the furthest point.
Saw a big chap with the mk7 Power porter and he made it look so easy.
He said it was best kit he owns and he's mate owns the Nash and wants to trade it now for the
Prestige.

The bloke in that video is full of crap to put it bluntly. I have the smaller Nash Evo Power Barrow & loaded up + my wife (who is not the biggest of people at 5'2" & 9 stone) sat on top of it, go up a steeper hill than he was demonstrating without any issues whatsoever. Tried the same with a friends Power Porter & it still done the job but was not as easy as the Nash one. The Power Porter with the triporter legs on it was not as well balanced as the Nash one with the rear wheels on. Most probably because of the lower centre of gravity on the Nash barrow. I actually managed to tip over the Power Porter a couple of times with the same load on it.

Most of the time you are not going to be using the barrow with the rear wheels on the floor unless you are walking it along a tarmaced road/pathway. With the height of the Carp Porter being higher, that means more lifting is required to get the wheels off the ground to go round corners etc. Much easier to do with the slightly lower handles on the Nash.

Horses for courses & I know people that have changed from Power Porters to the Nash barrows & also those that have bought the Prestige barrows purely because that is what they have had in the past.

EDIT: After posting this, I went out to the garden & set up the Metro Power Barrow with the rear wheels set to highest setting. I am 6 foot tall exactly with a 32" inside leg measurement & normal length arms (most off the shelf rods will fit perfectly butt end to armpit when holding reel seat). The handles on the Metro Power Barrow were literally touching my finger tips with my arms straight. Took a very slight knee bend to take hold of the handles & straighten to lift the rear wheels. That to me is the perfect height as pushing the barrow with straight arms taking any "weight".

I also took a look at the thumb control & to push that off with a "slide right" is going to take a lot more force than any body with a sane mind and not looking to out & out break it, to have it "spring off".

At the end of the day the only people that can be disappointed with an item is the person that has paid for it or has to use it. What is good for one person may not be for the next. I absolute hate Delkim alarms with a passion due to too many issues with them, but if others like them and want to use them, I am not going to stand there & tell them not to use them.

Prestige customers service is shocking at best and they are far cry from the quality they used to be 20 years ago!

I have a mate that has the prestige power port that broke on the welds the same happened to Greg Ellis and left him stranded around the North Met... Not what expect from a £700 barrow...

I have used Nash custom services a couple of times and they always went out of their way to help even when I was at fault.

Every company I have spoken to about a problem with one of their products have been fantastic other than Delkim & Deeper. Both companies fob you off telling you that it is because you are not using it right (I have been doing IT & electrical engineering for many years before the people behind the phone lines were even thought about being conceived!). Almost every person I speak to regarding the products faults have had the exact same issues, which either nobody knows how to use something or there is an issue.

Most of the time, results depend on how you speak to the person at the company. If you speak to them like they are one of your mates down the pub with a curse word ever other breath then you are not going to get far with anybody in life! If you over exaggerate the issue or add things in to the problem 9/10 times you will be caught out & then remembered by the company for trying to pull a fast one. If there is a genuine issue with a product, every manufacturer should be more than welcoming to resolve the issue (Delkim seem to think that water ingress through a battery cover on a £120+ alarm means that you should spend another £15 per head on a screw on back plate or use electrical tape - which is what they told me to do!).

Have to admit although I use only a small number of Nash products (barrow included) nowadays, if I have had any issues, they have been first class in resolving them with no or minimal fuss.

I have found with the Power Porter, when using the back wheels you have to load it the opposite way you would a normal barrow otherwise it will tip i.e. concentrate the weight at the rear rather than the front, it is then very stable. I use the wheels when 'off-road' and find you just sort of shuffle the back end a bit to get it to go where you want, no need to lift unless you are doing a sharp turn. As far as build quality goes the bloody thing is built like a tank and only comes out when totally necessary.

Agreed. I have the mk2 or mk3 powerporter.Over 10 years old and still going strong. I use a cover
To try to look after the electrics when it rains. But it did once tip into the lake.

Balancing is trickier, it does want to tip more than a mk2 porter so,I agree you cant have so much weight
At the front . I have the rear wheels on at all times, just in case i can let it roll.

When you can its magic lol

Used my Nash one through the winter at Ashmead which is notoriously muddy and it was brilliant, yet to try it on dry land with the back wheels on.

my syndicate was proper wet and muddy through the winter, Nash barrow just ploughed through with ease..I was the one slipping and sliding trying to keep up with it. and I've not tried rear wheels yet either.

I can only recommend the 24V Prestigue as thats what I have , probably the best piece of kit I have bought although its only to transport the rest .
You still have to lift it slightly as with any barrow with rear wheels going round corners , and if your on a bit of a slope yo can just roll along on the front and one of the rear wheels ,but keeping it level .
Once bought you wont go back ,hence why you see very few second hand .

I used a Nash Cargo barrow for many years. It was the biggest barrow they did in their range with the wheels on the back.
The point that the YouTube poster made about the adjustment / cam locks NOT staying put is valid. Maybe some of the other points are a little bit exaggerated.

One of the cam locks (at the front) fell off/out resulting in the front of the barrow being useless (the bit you carry the barrow bag on). I took the barrow back to Kent Tackle, and the issue was sorted (sent back to Nash, they done a fix, which worked)

The barrow was very heavy, my cargo EMPTY weighed nearly as much as my mates barrow loaded. I thought this was fine...I thought the steel box tube would last compared to aluminium tube.

However, the handles wore through...the left/right and underside of the box section tube tore (over time) and I had to do a botch job with some angle iron to bolt it back together so I could continue to use the barrow whilst I looked around for something different (ended up with Fox FX Explorer which is very light and works OK for me right now)

I am interested in this thread as I would like to get a Power Barrow. I had a little play with the Nash barrow at a recent show and it seemed quite powerful (wheel spinning it left rubber on the arena floor...)
However, the Prestige range will be built by a team with more experience...and you would hope that lots of the problems found in earlier models will have been resolved over time.

Maybe I should contact both companies and get a barrow sent to me to evaluate...

I'm in the market for a power barrow given I suffer bad with my back these days and I've been eyeing the Nash barrow but noticed there is a new power Porter. Given we are a bit further down the line since release of the Nash barrow I wonder if the reviews are still positive or is it best to pre order the power Porter?

I just watched a terrible video of a guy, and his gold watch, comparing them and he didn't speak highly of the Nash one...?

. . .don't believe everything you read or see online . . .Nash are trying to take some market share end of.

Main difference is motor and price - some view the Chinese made wheel hub motors (Nash) as inferior, however they are much more integrated making a barrow that is arguably more compact and better balanced. Prices however are steep. . .

I'm personally on the edge of biting the bullet and going for a Nash Metro Power as its smaller than the ridiculously oversized Prestige mk8 / Big boy jobs . . .if only they'd make a Power Porterlite only then I might think different. . !

The power porters are huge which is why I was drawn to the Nash one as it seems quite compact in comparison.

The Nash barrow is slightly more expensive which I don't mind as long as it is worth it. I mean I'm spending enough on the osteopath at the minute for my back so

Interested to hear from the owners of the Nash one, it's been out a while now and I imagine it has been put through it's paces. I don't go as often as I would like and I don't need it for long distances, it really is to save my back so feedback would be good on such investment.

. . .emailed Prestige yesterday. . .pitched to them with regards building a Power Porterlite (not all of us have large vans with ramps) and to be fair they responded immediately!

Apparently they are bringing out a mk2 Power Porter with a fatboy front tyre . . .they didn't mention release dates or RRP but its in the pipeline. . . on this basis may be worth waiting for as I'm sure you can strip a mk2 of the unnecessary metalwork to bring it closer to a Porterlite . . .?

I have a PP and a Porterlite and use them in different situations. Yes the PP is a beast of a thing and I definitely wouldn't bother with it if I didn't have a ramp and a van to drive it in, tend to only use it when absolutely necessary. Having looked at the Nash one in a shop the build quality of the PP looks superior IMO.

. . .build does look better engineered but the Nash 'design' is so much better in terms of compactness and weight distribution. It looks like a normal barrow with an invisible power source - the Prestige design is still a little 'agricultural'. I am also sure that with testing a decent hub motor can equal an externally mounted & bulky wheel drive in terms of typical realworld use . . (not all of us need to climb Everest with our carp gear)

Saying that and to be fair to Prestige they do have the history - I for one (who am v tempted by the Power Metro) will now wait for the mk2 Prestige Power release . . .

ive bought, used and sold all manner of barrows over last 20years .... Always kept a Porterlite though... It is the most versatile imo .... From days on the river to longer sessions, it does the lot. If they can manage a powered version without adding to much weight or bulk and keep the price sensible i would defo be interested

. . .ditto - my Porterlite is still going strong and is super versatile . . .

Problem is if you look at the standard Trax Metro (which has good reviews in general) its the same frame size as a Porterlite etc . . .so Nash have already recognised this with the Power Metro. . .

I mentioned this to Prestige - a Power-lite (tm) for £500 RRP would fly out of the door surely . . ?

It's a few years ago but I bought a powered wheel of a company called TSM baits. They made them to fit a range of barrows, mine was a trakker. Long story short, it has been a great purchase, although onlt 12v it does the job I need, gets 3 days gear round a reasonably large lake no problem at all. Still on the original battery as well. It's not great on steep hills but for me that's not a problem.

It's a real pity the guy no longer trades but surely there is a gap in the market for someone to fill...I mean it's hardly rocket science.

Id be surprised if someone doesn't start converting barrows again as on the facebook group jslinn mentions a lot of people are buying the powered wheel hubs and controllers that look very similar to the nash one in several power ratings and are buying them direct from china. It doesn't look hard to do

I'm a member of this group . . .nobody on it is particularly transparent though (everyone yaks about different purchases of controller units / 12v vs 24v / single / multiple batteries) so it can be a little confusing. Everyrone has different barrows tho - some need extension brackets for the front wheel that need to be engineered etc . . .

Most buy from Alibaba in China - the prices do go up and down dramatically so its a lottery as to what you order and when you press 'buy' -

Wheel Hub Motor (a la Nash - Prestige rate these as inferior tho if you look at their site) These vary from 24v 150W to 450W depending on power 'assumed' and weight of barrow etc
Control Unit (get this wrong and you wont be able to control speed or power)
Cables (with waterproof connectors)
Throttle control unit (you can buy the exact ones Nash use)
Batteries (either singular or in pairs)

Most seem to store the batteries and control unit in a carpy bucket or Korda Compact bag . . .others use DeWalt style toolcases - both are usually located in the barrows respective underbags so take up storage space. Advanced versions are fabricated metal and are welded onto the frame in a variety of places. . .there is a guy on there who will do all of this for you - for a price, you just need to order and deliver all the parts to him . . .

Overall purchase costs for the above parts are usually circa £300 . . .awaiting a quote from the above chap

I might buy a pukka power barrow first and then dick with my Porterlite . . .!

I've converted my TFG barrow with one of the kits from China, was pretty simple to be honest. The most difficult bit was making a new wheel carrier but that is specific to my narrow, the CarpPorter barrows are much easier to fit the hub motor wheel to. A little bit of wiring and I was up and away.

I've used it for a couple of sessions and it is a game changer for me for the lake I'm fishing which has some challenging banks and paths, I'm not getting any younger! Only time will tell as to the reliability but so far I'm really impressed!

That sounds up my street.. wanted to get the small nash power barrow but I've heard a few bad stories. How true they are I'm not sure but everyone I know who has the big power porters speak very highly of them. A porterlite or mk2 would suit me perfectly, I don't think I have enough kit to even half fill one of the big ones they do 😂

. . .a lot of it is noise because a new player is in the market whereas previously Prestige had zero competition . . I spoke to Angling Direct (Fosters Bham) about Nash Power Barrow sales and they said they were good.

When asked about problems / returns over the last 12months they stated that they were no different from normal / any other product so would not have any problem recommending either Nash or indeed Prestige.

Whether that's sales speil I'm not sure, however retailers don't want returns (esp on a high value product like a power barrow) so it sounded genuine enough for me . . . .

Expensive bits of kit whatever way you look at them . .sometimes they go wrong, period.

I don't think it's exactly sweetness and light with Prestige either. I've been told by people in the trade that they regularly have carp porters turn up with bits missing and have to assemble a complete Porter from a couple of different ones and then wait for the missing bits to turn up. That's another problem. Apparently their after sales for the shops is absolute dog s@&t.

So I think you are probably right. I bet they are all no different to one another. It's all arriving in containers from China anyway. Even if it's assembled in the uk.

If a decent uk manufacturer built a quality barrow from uk parts in the uk I think they'd clean up. Covid has opened a few people's eyes to the tackle manufacturers I think.

As you say all the Carp Porters come in from China but the main saving grace about the PP is that (as far as I'm aware) the motor/wheel assembly is built in the UK

What concerns me about the PP is how low that motor sits. Surely if you get into wet mud or if you push into what looks like a puddle but it's actually a hole/rut then that motors gonna take a knock isn't it?

Prolly be able to hit the motor with a brick and all that would happen is the brick would smash to pieces.

As for waterproofness: best not to fully submerge it, it's does look reasonably well sealed. I've had mine through very deep puddles, no probs here 👍

As already stated - I believe the overall 'design' of the nash product is a lot slicker and well thought out . . .power porters look like tractors in comparison. . . .however for every day use is an external drive motor actually significantly better than an integrated, sealed hub motor? Maybe . . .

From a marketing perspective we are comparing a Landrover Defender with a Skoda Yeti . . .both are good products!

The only comparison you can make is that the Nash one is a pile of s-hit. Don't know if I said it earlier on or on another thread: a mate of mine bought one, said charging the batteries was pathetic and it didn't have any guts to it to move his kit, also found the wheel spinning laughable. Sent it back and got a refund, bought the new 24v Porter and couldn't be happier. He's a massive Nash fan by the way. If Nash sold undies he'd buy um.

I'm lucky enough to have a van and even I wouldn't want a full sized power Porter. If the rumour of a smaller mk2 sized one turns out to be true then that would probably be the nudge I need to get one. I'm fifty next year and pushing round 100+ acre complexes these days is getting to be a chore. In fact I'm definitely missing out on fish cos I can't be arsed with the walk on a work over nighter these days.

Sorry, yes, 'assembled'

@116

The reason I bought mine is that the syndi I was on at the time got very waterlogged in Winter and getting to certain swims normal barrows just sank in and then you were stuffed. One poor chap that I knew quite well had a heart attack and died trying to push his barrow round there, that freaked me out a bit I have to admit so I thought **** this and bought one.

I found it perfect size wise as I had all the Winter bulk of bivvy etc (that I don't use in the warmer months) that you take (plus dog and stuff) but could move it in one go easily so the size of it never bothered me, it was part of the job description in my view. Never found the motor position to be a problem either. Most of the time now it's sat in my garage and when I need a barrow the Porterlite does the job, I'm sure it will be used again at some point though.

One of the reasons I went for the powered barrow was because of my ticker and mud like you had to contend with. The final straw was when I was pushing it around and could hear my heart beat in my ears

Now they just need to design one where the barrow follows me behind like the AI suitcases that have been around for a while and I'll be golden 👌

Mate, even traveling reasonably light, to get around some parts of it it goes over walking boots, have to wear wellies. Absolute nightmare when it gets wet.

Would be great to push a barra around mown lawns and type 1 tracks, unfortunately it ain't the case on my place. One third of it is a swamp from when the rains hit in the autumn and only dry up in the summer months.

. . .I've cut down my gear massively and leave most of it in the car - all goes on the Porterlite for one trip but by the time you've circled the lake looking for fish a few times, settled on a swim and then returned to the car to load your gear, get to your chosen spot and set up etc . . .all takes time

plus I hate packing up . . .barrowing back to the car (even though the load is slightly reduced in terms of bait / water / food) is dull and seems to be harder then when you've arrived and are keen to fish . . .anything to alleviate either!

"mate" .... Distance to some swims alone is a marathon (floods, mud, cross water etc), even with a track on one of my waters. Truth is, we used to do it when younger with just a match trolley (mid 80s) and holdall over the shoulder, so its defo more about the amount of gear we take ... trying to suggest otherwise is folly .... its just the way carp angling has gone .... im not knocking it, im all for an easy life .... but comfort = bulk and weigtht .... you rarely get one without the other and is modern carp angling has become
