Interesting what you say about baits containing Robin Red. I've seen both Essential baits B5 and Baitworks Atlantic heat. Post up pictures of there baits covered in pond life. Maybe there is something in Robin red that attracts them. Maybe it's the Sugars. Or even the spice.

This is indeed down to invertebrates feeding on the bait. It just happens more frequently when the water temp is at it's highest like now.
I see some have mentioned the solubles in the bait, this is partly true but it is more the fermented/ yeasty/ sweet solubles that they will be attracted to than the marine types in my opinion.
I first noticed this happening years ago to more than often 'red type' baits. From then i always attributed it to the sugar in Robin Red (then) or Kingfisher Red which we now use.
The Bug has both a hydrolysed yeast extract and a sweet milk flavour in there which no doubt contributes to attracting the critters!
Whichever way you look at it though, it is good thing!

You boys must be using some crap bait.. 
Quite common on the waters I fish. Definitely as mentioned aquatic vertebrae. Snails, cadice. Shrimp etc. Find it more common with baits that contain some sort of soluble fish element. Soluble fish proteins, hydroslates and the like. They really seem to go all in for them.

Copied pics to a mate, he says snails 100%
He dropped a boilie in the margin when baiting up, and next morning noticed it was covered in small snails. He wiped them all off and the boilie was the same as these.

Never saw anything like that before 
But my guess would be maybe some kind of tadpole, water larvae or any other kind of acuatic bug

guess thats the digestable protein gone out of it.
Bait I used some years ago used to be nibbled away by just about everything in the water, not that bad though, only the binders left.

I did think it could be small inverts or maybe tadpoles but it is a little late for tadpoles and it was only in one place 🤔

Water snails & other aquatic life, like tadpoles, caddis larvae, and possible silver fish/fry as previously mentioned.

Wasnt sure what to name this thread or even if it belongs in the bait section 🤔
Ive been out on the bank over the last 4 days and ive been reeling in boilies that looked like the surface of the moon or stilton cheese. Just lots of holes, this was happening to wafters, match the hatch, hard hookers and pop ups. (DNA S7 and The Bug)
All came back looking the same. I thought at first it was because the lake water was so warm (measured air temp with digital thermometer was 39°C or 102°F in the shade) BUT this was only happening to baits in one particular area.
Anyone got a clue what caused this ?
