Possibly. I'm right on the border. I have a car for day to day that is compliant
and a van that is only used occasionally. Fishing and family trips etc.
The van will get charged. But I only every drive out of the Borough away from London.

If I had a vehicle that wasn't ULEZ compliant and I only lived a few streets away from the border I'd take my chances and cover my plates up, hardly ever see a copper about these days anyway
And for what it's worth I totally agree with vandalising these cameras, not that I would do it myself as it is criminal damage and if this thing gets the go ahead then it's only our money they're spending on replacing them anyway, it's a disgrace and has nothing to do with cleaner air, London is more congested now than ever but according to Sadist Khan the air in central London is cleaner than the suburbs, utter bull****, if the c**t really cared about the health of young children why doesn't he just ban the vehicles altogether?

Yes.
It's been said he's doing the expansion mid term so by the time election time comes around he hopes it will be forgotten. Not sure he would get back in if there was an election tomorrow.

Work with a lot of Londoner's they all hate him.
Got a meeting in cenntral London next week, it will be a train into Waterloo and a Black cab into the West End and the same on the return, cant be doing with spending time in the city these days.

Working in central London is completely different from doing leisure in London.
I worked in central London day in and day out for decades not really giving it much thought, wasted so many opportunities, now when I go, I go for leisure and realise how much London has to offer.

I've noticed manor farm Essex advertising tickets, just made me wonder if a few had dropped out now knowing if you live out the area you will get hit with £25 extra every time you go for 24hrs or more.

They do but unfortunately there isn't anyone else with a big enough persona to go up against him and the trouble is once this is in it's in and all of those opposing him now, once in power they'll be quite happy to keep it going to generate revenue (tax) cos let's face it that is what this is, to all authorities, governments, local authority's and of course the mayor of London there is no such thing as a bad tax

So we are now paying 2 taxes

As a born and bred Londoner who has lived in London virtually their entire life, it is heartbreaking to watch what is going on now in our capital city. The rest of you think “ah it's just a London thing” you simply could not be more wrong. I live in a leafy suburb and I watched and thought this would never effect me. I was wrong. This is coming to where you live soon too. Our local high street, is at a constant state of grid lock now. Because they blocked off all of the local through routes around the high street. They done this over the last few years, to pave the way for what they are doing now under the guise of saving the environment. I will buy a new car, and get on with it. If you are poor, and cannot afford to pay the £16 a day tax or whatever it is... Your basic human right to free movement in your own town, or even country, is being taken away from you. If you have a six year old van and can't afford to replace it because your heating bills tripled? Tough luck, your ability to work and provide for your family is about to be snatched away from you.

When the Dartford bridge was built, I had a girlfriend at the time who lived in Grays. Everybody in the local area got a government flyer through the door. The bridge was being built, at very great expense with tax payers money. Our money. The flyer stated, that the bridge would have a small toll... Only until such time as the the bridge was paid for. After that, it would be free for all. After all the flyer stated, the M25 crossing is the life blood of the SE.
The bridge was paid for, the same government sold it to the French. They now control prices. In much the same way as our gas and electric companies.

These road closures are not there to help the poorer areas, they are put in place in the wealthier areas and their traffic ends up in the poorer areas.

The Mayor talks of saving young Mildred's lungs... They don't give a single **** about Mildred's lungs. It's going to cost. A new tax. And create a situation where if you are rich it is no problem... Carry on. If you are not so well off... Well it's basically **** you. You're going to pay for this really. It's you who is going to lose out on your freedoms. Single mum, old car? When they finish building the new Thames tunnel at Silvertown to make sure people pay to use it they will start charging to use the Blackwall tunnel.
So all 3 Thames crossings will be chargeable

I'm sure that's part of the reason, though the roads where I live in the south east see twice as much traffic as they used to and the cost of repairs I'm sure has increased. As have staff costs in councils.
Clearly they are hoping that making it more expensive to drive will see less vehicles on the roads over time..then they'll have to find another tax

I live in Stanford le no hope and if I fancied a night out with the mrs for a curry or whatever in Upminster thats going to be £12.50 on top of the bill, or £25 quid on top if i go out past midnight. £25 quid every weekend picking my daughters up on a Friday and returning them on Sunday. both my daughters start driving this coming October,there is a ulez camera 500 yds from their front door,so every time they go out they will be charged(if they can get a driving lesson]. khan wants everyone on a bike walking or using buses.there is no such thing as a ulez complient car because its all going to be pay per mile next and 15 minute citys. ill have to start carrying sheets of plaster board on the tube or bus then, thats after I've put my prices up like all builders will be doing to cover the cost.khan hasn't really thought what damage he is going to do to a lot of people and small companys.

I could get the train yes, which I probably would do if meeting up with mates and was having a few beers, but my point was why now should people have to pay just to pop into a local town to cover tfls fck up to do their shopping or get a haircut etc. it will now cost 12.50 for anyone who has to go to Upminster crematorium for a funeral or pay their respects to a passed family member or friend. one of my best mates has a farm in north ockendon and supplies hay to lots of the stables around this part, they now will have to go the long way round to collect it missing the ulez cameras (that will cut down emission not) or look elsewhere, also many of them have said its going to effect them when they need horse feed from manor farm shop.not to mention effecting manor farm shop.

I understand entirely - in the other thread I mentioned that I'd been stung £17.50 when I recently fished at Walthamstow, travelling in from Essex and only actually driving for about 15 minutes in the zone. I certainly felt robbed. Living there with a non-compliant vehicle is going to end up costing people a lot of money, which many simply don't have.

The expansion could actually help me.
I live just outside the present zone, when they expanded it last time I saw an increase in traffic as people drove around the outskirts rather than driving into it.
Even though I stand to gain I still think it's unfair on people on lower pay and a car for them is a necessity. You can't blame them if they give up work and go on the dole.
I could give a long list of how unfair this could be to various people but it's already out there.
It's all about money and Khan being a ****. I hope he goes.
