Hopefully in 12 years I can get a bus pass and not have to worry about it lol

For sure...
What about those who.live rural like me...don't think Western National would be to pleased dealing with a miserable old bugger and a load of minimal carp kit on a bus..unless I got a trolley like that young chap on YouTube who has a channel ,forgot his name fishes all those dodgy urban places..

It's 2030 for the UK, unless they change their mind.
But it's the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans they're stopping, you can still use any existing cars and will still be able to buy secondhand petrol and diesel vehicles.

It will cost more to charge up your car than it does To fill it up with petrol/diesel unless you have a windmill on the top

To be fair peak oil happened a while ago so other options had to be looked at. Electric seems the way forward at the moment. I know Toyota were looking into an hydrogen motor!
As for electric cars, not all that meets the eye form an environmental perspective, battery's for one!
My mrs is a cop, went on a training course the other week, how to deal with battery powered cars that are on fire and in summary there ain't much you can do. Tesla arrange their own breakdown service and the cars are then placed in a water tank for 12 hours to prevent them reigniting!

I don't believe oil peaked at all.......I do however believe burning oil is not that great for the environment in the amount it is.......the reason for the 15 year delay is the investors who invest 10-15yrs into the future so once again it all about money for the wealthy!

Electric cars the future, no I don't think so they remind me of Betamax a great idea but when it comes to disposal of used batteries (as you just can't bury them in landfill).
Perhaps hydrogen but again it really is too early to say

Not everyone can charge from home and most homes are limited to 7kW meaning no fast charging so car would have be left on charge all night, what if you've two EVs or don't have a drive..
Electrification is costing car makers billions, European economy's are struggling with little growth over the next few years, UK car manufacturing is in the toilet outpaced by the rest of the world.
And they are just too expensive.
I paid over 45K for a hybrid didn't go full electric as there just isn't the infrastructure. The EV I looked at was 60k. Plus the sums don't add up with the high cost of energy.
Maybe China will step in (to our rescue) and deliver those affordable electric as let's be honest they are the market leaders for EV.
And the other thing EVs weigh a ton and funnily enough the roads where I live are in the worst state they've ever been....no one strangely ever mentions that...
I can see 2030 getting pushed out...it's a bit like broadband to rural areas how late was that 😂

Used to take glass pop bottles back for re cycling
Milk came in bottles then Got washed and sent back when the milkman came around to deliver the next day bottles
Paper bags for carrier bags
Jumble sales for clothes if couldn't afford new
1/4 lb of ham or corned beef wrapped in paper
Cod and chips on a Friday that came in newspaper instead of styrofoam.
Sweets that came out a a bigger jar then Tipped into scales weighed and sold in paper bags.
Could go on..

I charge mine at home from a 3 pin plug, aw do several EV owners near me, it's charged by the KW so what difference if it's ;eft on all night, they automatically switch off when charged.

As had been said It's great if you have a drive or you can park next to an on street charge point easily.
Car prices like houses and most things are about 25% more than they were 3 years ago so pretty run of the mill I'd say.
From a resale perspective as we approach 2030 if it ever happens it will maintain a better resale value than its pure combustion counterparts and I'd argue EVs as well.
Cars never a status thing to me they get bashed about and eventually replaced and like I said I don't think EVs are the final solution
One trip to New York for a bit of Xmas shopping and that co2 emissions saving is gone.
