I need to leave some kit in a place that is not secure and potentially at risk of going walkies. I have a couple of alarms to choose from. I am thinking the older MX is probably the less of the two evils to potentially lose ..... but thought I had better check its not a "classic" or something special I am not aware of

i cant help you with a factual answer but i still have 3 of the old ones as a back up set of alarms... they are absolutely fantastic for a budget alarm. Have neve failed me in well over 15 years of on and off use.

Hmmm... you will struggle to replace the original mx whereas you can replace the other alarm. Just a thought...

The mx to people of a certain age has some emotive value where as the other one is just an alarm even though it maybe functionally better.
As a person from that generation, I'd keep the mx and run the risk of losing the other alarms.

As an old bugger don’t worry about the mx’s if someone wants to give them a good home for a few years then good luck they are more likely to fail / require more maintenance ££

I’d safeguard the MX’s and leave them at home. I wish they still made those with upgraded internals. I had a set of the MMXR’s, they were a cracking set of alarms, but had shocking transmitters with crystal sets that couldn’t be replaced, as I found out when Dalectronics couldn’t repair them. I much prefer the shape and size of those over the new MX’s and RX+’s.
In summary, risk the minis as they are cheap as chips and easily replaced if necessary.

Personally i love my Mini Micron X's!
Bought them as a spare set when they came out about 5 years ago.
They seem to be the only alarms i use nowadays, even though i still have mk1 Delkim Txi's, Nevs and ATT's. 🤷
