Do you know what's new about them? Just seen an Insta advert and they are just saying 'back in stock', with the blurb and spec all looking identical.
I have an original that has been fine, but naturally, I'm curious if they have improved it?

Few shops got them in stock on ebay. Cheapest is £58 and hes sold 50 in 24hrs 😀

Typical, an item I've really wanted for the last couple of years but has been unavailable becomes available at a point where I've stopped fishing!! Sods law at it finest!!

i seen this morning someone complaining of poor build quality and put a picture up of the brass fittings not all the way in flush with the top of the pole and it had been fixed in that position

I will just keep using the V on my landing net pole, and a little loop of paracord on the top of the scales, so easy.

Dear god what has happened to the world.
They ran out and the prices went mad for a stick with a clip, everyone that never needed a stick with a clip now needed a stick with a clip because the stick with a clip wasn’t available. Most on the lakes I see now erect teepees- here are erected before the session starts so I assume they have a duel function as a place of worship or some kind of satellite navigational aid. It’s a fish, you have scales and arms, it’s probabley not a world record and if it weighs between x pounds and y ounces settle wherever you want.
I just don’t get it, a rod that is made weak in the middle by a join, because obviously most fisherman are unable to hold the scales by the handle or stick a bankstick through the finger grip.
Taking a footstool and a magazine rack might make a backside stay a little bit better but I don’t see many of thes around Horton Disney.

I know it's not trendy but why not just buy a 3/4 thread V or D or circle, tie down ring, if posh add a carabiner, couple of quid max.
Got to admit I now cart around a tripod, the fish could weigh anything from 1oz to 70lb if I had to manually hold the scale point or use a weight bar

Same here. I use a tripod. They dont take up a lot of space and dont weigh much. I would much rather have an accurate reading as some of the fish I am able to catch could be a PB.
Plus its a great way to hang up a bin liner so the rats cant get to it

When i've used tripods in France i've found them to be more of a pain than a pole, especially if i'm on my own. i end up kicking legs whilst trying to get the sling under the legs and onto the hook.
The korda pole is a nice bit of kit and makes weighing fish on your own much easier. I went through a few various makes of storm pole which all bent, before shelling out on the korda version.
For me, if i'm fishing anywhere with 40lb+ fish i take the pole for ease and accuracy.

My brother just bought a new one and spoke to the chap in the shop about them.
They went out of stock. Prices on eBay went silly. Danny was made aware and so got another XX thousand made. Voila! They are now available again.
Are they weak?
I had heard the join in the middle was weak, but after double checking that apparently not.
What was happening, I am told, was that the join was letting in some water.
This meant you could pack it away in your hold all and have it dribble water out until the next session...so apparently there's some kind of seal there now to try and stop that happening. With the older version people would stand it upside down to let it drain, so not a huge issue, but one that they hope to have fixed.
Tripod.
If I am going on a session (as opposed to an overnighter) or I know I will catch a number of fish I take my cheapy Daiwa tripod.
It can be slightly annoying:
1 - Twisting the hook at the top to allow the scales to hang nicely without touching the legs
2 - Passing the weigh sling around 1 of the legs to get it in the centre of the 3.
3 - Lifting the sling up to the scales and burning you arms out whilst trying to hoop the tiny o-rings onto the scales. I suppose I could hook the scales on first, then lift the scale up to the hook but it's not really a HUGE issue, I only mention it to be open/honest
Why do I like using a tripod?
I feel I treat the fish better/safer. I have both hands free to gently steady them if they flap and once they are still for a second or two I get a nice clear reading on the scales. True, I'm not expecting to need to know the weight to the 'dram' in case it's a UK record...but on the syndicate it's nice to see accurate weights so you can see how the fish is progressing weight wise.
But it's mainly for fish safety

I can't help but feel there's a better design for a fishing tripod type thing out there (yes re inventing the wheel again...lol). My cygnet sniper (is it) comes with pegs for the feet, and most pods operate on centre of gravity to stay put....but
Think a tripod but front 2 legs directly opposite at the front, vertical, with a 3rd at a right angle behind pegged down. You would then have a centre bar that comes forward away from the boss with the hook on it. Very similar in design to the fan of a Tempest/Frontier, but with only the front centre bar. It would require the use of a secure peg on the rear but that's not a problem.
