In the days of instant anglers and I must catch for albums.
I started fishing as an 8 year old. Usual float and ledger then at 16 discovered carp
so 55years later yesterday evening totally out of the blue the neville screamed and it was all off at the races. A short while later mirror in landing net. Looked big so did the usual rod in right hand net in left a lift and on the mat. The fish was halfway out of water, ooh thats heavy. So bit the main line and a double hand lift to mat.
Then in sling and lift up scales. It was 40lb 2oz.
Woo hoo my first 40 in 55 years. That's not instant just add water carping. Sometimes you just have to wait for good things

Well in...... your of an age, which appreciates what a milestone a fish of that size represents
Your from a time when there was only a handful of fish of that size in the country. Anglers these days can buy themselves a rod in the morning and have a fish of that size in there net by the afternoon. Would that mean as much to them as it does to you... i doubt it..How times have changed.. enjoy it, you deserve it.

Amazing well done, I'm a very small number of life years behind you and still waiting for my first forty, so can only imagine how good you must be feeling right now
Nice one i know how that feels, i started carp fishing at 12 when Clarissa was the record at 44lb.
Always wanted a carp that big, had to wait until i was nearly 40 years old to beat that personal target.

Really.....millions of them in Redmire.....4 footers, 60s and most definitely a 56lber 70 blinkin years ago!!!
