What do you guys do if the coots & swans home in on your spots when you've baited up if you have no laser or gun lol

Having caught both multiple times over the years Pray the coot takes the bait and not the swan 😂

What he said, and if you do hook a Swan pray to the fishing gods it's partner isn't around to provide backup!!

Swans can't go too deep so just fish a bit deeper water. Coots are far trickier, so baiting up after dark will help, as will using dark baits

Some people have success, but I haven't found lasers to do much at all. Unless you can get one that physically burns a hole though them.

Groundbait is very under utilised by carp angler though if you want to be be able to get something in the water during the day.

Jump up & down, flap your arms, clap your hands, hiss loudly, swear at them profusely, eventually give up, make a brew, then continue to complain to anyone that'll listen for the rest of the day.. I've found is the best approach.

Use smaller bits - particles etc. They'll never get all of it. Otherwise just ignore them. It doesn't bother carp.

Coots and Swans are not so bad, its Tufties that are the nightmare, they can send you insane when you get a flock of them diving on your baits, and they don't just do it during the day, they dive 24hours a day, light or dark and you get no peace or even sleep if they dive all night.. You can drive them off, but they come back like a bad nightmare

I think Tufties have the ability like a "Cadaver Dog" to be able to sniff your baits out no matter how deep you fish and home in on them.

Take a few loaves extra of bread and keep feeding area to side of you or next swims if empty

Mallaads were terrible on my lake yesterday diving on my spots for the 24hrs I was there. I caught a female one at 6am yesterday morning in 6ft of water.

I don't know how true this is but i was told mallards loose their oil near mating time to enable better grip hence why at certain times of the year they can reach decent depths, it does seem to make sense if that is the true reason, if not its a good story

I've heard that one down side to all these Otter fences. Is the birdlife seem to congregate on these more as they are safer on a fenced fishery than on one that's not. Something worth putting up with maybe..

It was quite noticeable this winter. When the rivers were in flood a couple of otters moved onto the lake, the majority of the bird life disappeared.
