Was just having a look on marketplace for something completely unrelated but saw there was a crazy amount of 2nd hand kaizen green rods for sale. Have korda dropped the ball and there's something drastically wrong with them or something ?

You will find majority on there are from people winning them in these carp comp raffles. The amount of new tackle on FB market place these days are unreal. Never understand why you would enter a comp for something if you dont want it.

My mate is crazy on them - as you say, he has not won anything he wants to keep yet! Fruit machines for carp fisherman.

This is all so true, and it's just another thing our local tackle shops are having to deal with.
The comp sites get the stuff at trade, pass the prizes on as RRP products. Anglers entering the comps don't even want the gear, it's all about gambling. But the upshot is there is tonnes of brand new gear with tags on being sold cheaply from these comp sites. Eventually the smarter brands have got to wake up to the fact that this is hurting their business.
They don't want the shops to discount their stuff, yet they have no control over a comp winner who can sell the brand new kit for whatever price & as cheap as they want online to get rid of it quickly.
This will damage the brands themselves in the end. If there's tonnes of their brand new kit being sold off cheap, their own RRP which they set & wish to maintain, will mean absolutely zero in no time whatsoever.

Is there really enough gambling to affect the trade?
I can understand that people may win the “wrong” prize and want to sell it on but that sounds like an incredible amount of gambling.
(This probably shows how naive I am!!)

A couple of competition sites local to be (Depending on the size) buy direct from the tackle shop, I'm unsure on the discount they get but surely its a win win situation for the declining tackle shops

a local tackle shop, in this specific case MGS XTD, got only 3 sets at launch even though they had 12+ back orders, and a specific gambling site got 6. You could put this down to buying power, but I still think it's wrong.

You say they “got” 6, I know for a fact that a very well known tackle shop local to me sends orders out to the prize winners of certain Raffle Sites.
The raffle goes live, tickets sold and if the winner decides to take the tackle the raffle site buys from said tackle shop and gets shipped direct to the winner.
This probably isn't the case with all prizes but the tackle shops aren't losing much from these things.
