As the title suggests really. Im looking to upgrade my current rods which are pretty crappy and tattered with some new ones (or some very good second hand ones), but unfortuntely I dont have the biggest budget. Only looking to spend max of £60-70 per rod and I need 3. Any suggestions? Or ones to definately avoid. Cheers

Wychwood Maximiser get good reviews on here, keep an eye out on Facebook Marketplace or ebay for them, you should be able to get a set for £200.

They need to be the SPD version of the Maximiser. The subsequent versions were not of the same quality.

Looking on AD website they have some Greys Prodigy rods for half price at £79.99 each. I know Greys are a good brand but are the Prodigy rods any good. I could possibly pay a little more if the quality is gonna be heaps better and I would notice the difference

You can get the Tackle Box Darent Valley 12' 3lb for £69.59. The Darent Valley rods seem to get good reviews.
Wychwood Riot could also be contender in that price range.

I've just picked up two shimano tx2 intensity for £130 off fb marketplace so it's worth keeping an eye on there

Great rods for the price point - underrated for the TC's so go softer than usual unless you want casting / solid bag tools

The TX-2 is the most overhyped rod on the market, fish playing is zero on this stiff blank, sonik Vader x rs is cheaper and better quality
Next logical upgrade from Sonik Is Free spirit thats how good the Soniks are,
there is literally no reason to go for the more expensive TX-2 compared to the Vader X rs, and come on pink wrapping rly...

Slightly over the top response? They are perfectly good rods. Sonik Rods are also good value. If I had to choose a cheaper set, I'd go back to my TX-2s. However, I've spent more money on rods that I definitely think are superior. But for their value for money I'd be happy with them again.

I wouldn't buy Sonik on principle alone - not that I've ever used their rods but the blokes on their stand at a trade show irritated me once so I've based my opinion on that . . .
Saying the TX-2 is overhyped is def nonsense. . . .they're not perfect by any means but they remain Shimanos best selling carp rod for a reason . . .

If possible. Pop into the likes of the Tacklebox in Dartford or Johnson Ross in the lea Valley. They will be able to tell you what's selling in your price bracket. Probably tell you what to avoid as well.
