I just don't understand why all carp reels don't have a push button folding handle some do some don't
Anyone know why
When I use my 2600 it's so easy

No handles folded just easier setting up packing up as I said I use 2600 I find it so easy with them

I don't know if its still the case but daiwa had the patent on the external folding mechanism (it always said pat pending on the ss series) hence why other styles used a sliding collar or the button was on the underside of the handle i reckon

I can't see it being durability issues, my Daiwa float reel is 35 years old and the folding handle still works as it should, as it did/does on the 2 sets of infinities I've had, the present set being well over 10 years old iirc.
You can get folding handles on sonik reels.
My old emblem z's are folding and have no issues.
The original purpose was pack down size.
But with modern holdalls better built for larger reels of today many manufacturers have chosen not to bother anymore.
Of course there are the fashion conscious that if it don't fold they are not buying for fear of ridicule ....you know those who bring a spirit level and spend an age on handle & knob alignment

Got to have folding handles so reels are less bulky on my rod slings, and allows them to pack easier when loading the car.
The daiwa emblems on my big barbel rods, and the old shimano ultegras on my big carp rods.
It's a shame the new shimano reels have the floppy handles...

I've got the Emblem 23 45's, which unfortunately don't have folding handles. I wish they came with the handles the Super Spod reels come with. Anyone know it those are available to buy as spares?
