Been out of the tackle game for a long time, potentially fishing an estate lake and can get away with 2.5 test rods and SS2600s.
Mostly deep and silty with some lillys
Tried a few 10-12lb lines with them before, GR60, Nash, GLT, ESP Syncro..all have their plusses and minuses. Too stiff, too prone to twist..floating.
Certainly not putting pits on my Kev-carps to use fluoro.
Was thinking Shimano Technium black/grey, been a longer time since I last used it.
Still supple but bomb-proof?

I use 10lb GR60 on mine, never had much trouble tbh 👍

Braid?
Surprised you have issues with standard Synchro XT - I use it on my SS2600 paired with soft 12' 2.5 rods for margin / float fishing (polaris) and its fine . . .

I like the gr60 my main go to but what about good old maxima line for small lakes

tbh (at the time..it was fairly new) Syncro was probably the worst line I'd tried in years, Ok for the first few outings but I was having to take the last 10m off and it would take forever to sink.
Braid doesn't appeal, fished it before just not to my liking.
I remember back when I fished there before one of the old chaps used some and laid waste to the lilles for a few weeks, pads floating around all over the lake.

Shame you cant use braid - on soft rods its lovely stuff . . .great for floater and float fishing!
Don't think any monos are perfect; have splurged on some v expensive PB Products Hybron (fluro/mono fused hybrid - low stretch / heavy) for my Whisker 25Qds / 10ft rods . . . wont be using in anger until April but will let you know -

i think a lot of the issue with lines is the smaller spools coil it up
due to some rules on local waters i have to use 15lb and it needs some prep before and after to stop it pinging around.
so stretching it out before use and also paying off line and winding through fingers at the end of a trip is worth doing.

Went back to Maxima chameleon a couple of years ago and use it in several different b/s now for carp and course fishing and won't be changing again. May even try it in heavy b/s (100lb) for my sea fishing rigs.

Sure there are issues with smaller spools and mono will behave like mono..always a compromise.but what are the options?

Maybe try ye olde Daiwa Sensor in the thinner gauges . . cheap as chips and easy to respool if/when it gets annoying . .

Chameleon was a solid line. I never really bought the colour change aspect though, always just looked red to me. I preferred the Ultragreen.

Use the green coloured stuff for hook links occasionally and use the tapered tippets fly fishing.

I needed to fish mono on my small bait runner reels for a couple of trips last winter. I bought a spool of green 12lb Hirisi line from AliExpress after a friend recommended it to me. I found it to be great & did everything I wanted of it. Very cheap & looks exactly the same as some green ESP stuff I had on an old spool.
