In the old days, I'd fish in the hottest weather just in the hope of getting a bite even though it rarely happened so I've got a pass to go tomorrow, but my Spidey senses tells me it's too hot and I shouldn't bother.
What do you think, does it fish well when it's really hot?

I'd go just to get out. I was out yesterday, 27 deg, 4 hours, 4 runs 2 fish landed. If I had a tree to sit under in the shade I wouldn't hesitate but out in the open on a barren peg, it wasn't pleasant, though I got a good tan. I had my V2 Air with me but the thought of sitting under it without vents, no thank you, I so need one of the newer vented types!
The fish were milling about on the surface but also feeding on the bottom, my 1st choice of venue they'd started spawning again, but that's a lot deeper than the venue I ended up on.
I suppose the question of angling if they're starting to struggle with the temps also crops up, venue dependent.
The weather was meant to be breaking tomorrow though it looks like it's still sunny now but a modest 22 deg here, guess it depends where you are.

If you have a large deep venue then it could take ages for the water to warm up and affect the fish.
Yes the fish could still like to come to the top and get the sun on their backs but they will still feed on the bottom where the water is still relatively cool.
On the other hand, on a small shallow water the fish are more easily turned off.

All venue dependent. Managed one at 2am off my syndicate. Called on way home to a lake I mainly use for surface fishing and had one within an hour.

When it gets hot like today I will usually try a bit of breadcrust off the top

That's what I was hoping for on the 1st water I went to, up to 18' deep and they do like to come up on a sunny day, could have been a great day if they hadn't got jiggy

Went yesterday afternoon for a 24hr session, spent most of today chasing them around but they were not having any of it. I got home this afternoon hot, sweaty, dirty, tired, loads of mozzy bites and nettle stings but enjoyed it. I was the only one on the lake today, a couple of guys did overnighters but were gone by 9am this morning.

I went stalking in the heat Saturday afternoon and had one on freelined worm, I didn't fancy my chances static fishing.

I used to fish in sweltering heat too, hoping for a bite, but it was pretty hit or miss. From my experience, fish often get sluggish when it's really hot, so they might not be as interested in biting. If you decide to go, try hitting the water early or late in the day when it's cooler. If it feels too sweltering, maybe save it for a cooler day!

Its never too hot! If you have a spot going (rocking as the young guns call it) then trust me u will get bites but they in general tend to be 3am til 9am.... that is a generalization. A couple of years ago i fished in that 39 degree heatwave.... sat in the water for 2 days on an island with my dog but both mornings and had takes .... 4 in fact but i must stress they knew to go to the baited spots in the few hours it was cool enough for them to be intested in feeding. Never give in.... tenacity and perserverance.... and about 10 litres of water in 2 days! Lol

I was fishing at that time, people advised a zig rig, but i caught 3 fish in 48 hours. On the bottom. Bites came in the evening and first light. Thus was on a water with daytime form.

Echo the stalking shout. I had a couple last week on a float fished over depth in the edge with a few grains of corn. I'd rather do that for the next couple of months along with surface fishing than sit behind buzzers when it's hot
