Used wide tape years ago, not very sharp.
Prefer Gardner muggas. I only fish simple rigs these are sharp enough and available very cheap if you search around.

J precision if you want sharpened hooks,Gardner Muggas,Atomic Tackle,Ridgemonkey hooks all very very good hooks.Gardner and Ridgemonkey now do the refill packs,you get 25 hooks for £9.99 so makes them a fair price too

ive never had as issue with Korda hooks ... Tend to use wide gape and choddies mainly

Wide gapes if I was picking one.
For carp. Fang twisters and ESP curves and stiff riggers for the majority of my fishing, all sharp out of the packet and reliable strong hooks for me
For the river, Korda wide gapes or Drennen super specialists.
I preferred the original wide gapes, they were a finer gauge, now I just use the twisters, heavier but reliable

I use Krank.
Avoid Kamakura. They come back bent every time.

Been using j precision hooks for the last year and i wouldnt use anything else now.
I use Gardner muggas that are sharpened by Jason Haywood

Korda wide gape x are fantastic as are the chod hook. The esp cryogen range are also good along with the thinking angler hooks. I will say esp hooks run a little bigger than Korda and ta hooks for the same size.

Another vote for Korda wide gape x hooks. Used them for around 15 years can't see me changing.

Hooks are very personal to each angler and a lot depends on the rig / situation you find yourself in.
I did use Korda Widegapes in size 8 and they were very good for me.
I can recommend Korum Xpert Specimen in size 6 which I currently use, they have done me proud on all the lakes I've been fishing over the last 4 or so seasons, sharpen well & have held just fine in hit & hold situations I've had.
They are cheap compared to most and not a carp brand as such so go under the radar, maybe buy a pack and have a look / play?

Take a look at sharp tackle/ carp punk, less than a third of main brands no fancy packaging but never let me down.

Do Korda hooks come up big or small for the hook size?
I've recently bought 2 x different makes of size 8 hooks and one is more like a size 6.

Used j precision for a long time. Never had many issues reliability wise, in fact they were super strong and durable, but suffered regular hook pulls with the chod and wide gape patterns in size 5/4's, 3 in 10 sometimes more which I began to get a tad annoyed with. Changed to Kamakura wide gape x and choddys in 4's 3 years ago, on a recommendation from some friends, havnt lost a fish to a hook pull since that hasn't involved a snag. Same rigs, tackle, and actually have been using braided mainline a lot more since too, coincidence I don't know, but I won't be changing again in a hurry. Korda hooks had a sketchy reputation for years but I can say I've been really pleased with them, fishing some tough, weedy, snaggy pits for big carp they've been excellent.
