Since the Font change, I no longer see the Thumbs Up option for posts?
No big deal but it was a nice addition.

I lost that code when the server died (I should have backed it up but it was a quick couple hours coding I done on the live server/site)
I intend to redo it. I might make a like thumb AND a love heart option this time
Maybe I'll rewrite it tonight, have a few other bits to do first though

Indeed...I didn't want to encourage negativity ... we can use Facebook for those slanging matches!
Would any other icons be useful though (focusing on the positive...)

I wasn't sure about the Laugh icon tbh...I didn't want the site to turn into everyone trying to get more smiles than anyone else.
The icons intention was to encourage good content

It's all subjective though.....some of the most despicable posts I've seen on here received lots of thumbs up. Perhaps give an indicator as to who clicked on them?
The other icons just sound like emojis and would probably be used in the same way.

Despicable to you maybe but not to those who thought a thumbs up was appropriate.
Why do you want to know who awarded the thumb, so you can use your 'expert' judgement and judge them as being despicable as well.

I found the thumbs up as a useful way to say I agree and or endorse a post rather than having to type a whole sentence or paragraph. If people don't like a post then they should go to the trouble of explaining what was wrong with it. IMHO.

I participate on another forum where they have a "Like" button, so basically the same as here. The difference is that when you hover over the "Likes" it shows which users had clicked it. I find that interesting and a useful gauge with regards to what others are thinking.
The tribal thing that Tinhead mentioned; I wonder if it might actually reduce somewhat if posts attacking other users - that got several thumbs up - would be discouraged if those doing the clicking were not doing so anonymously. If you want to endorse something that someone else has posted, but don't want to be actually associated with it, that's odd.
