Im currently fishing a day ticket water with csro to med 30s 18 achers in size, one of the better waters without having to drive 40000000 miles.
I came up and walked a rroubd for about an hour before i foubd mkst of the lakes fish in one corner, the corner furthest away frim the car park, typical! .
I arrived Wednesday mid afternoon and decided to set up in the peg next to the corner peg, my thinking was and lines going in amongs them and they would scatter.
Anyway, when i came i was the only one here, there are now 9 ppl on the lake, not one person has walked arround, not one person is anywhere near me or the fish and no one else has caught, i had 8 fish last night to 23lb and today ive had a double take resulting in a vrand new Avid Bag stem snapping and also a Korda swivel snaping, both fish lost, luckily the bailiff was here at the time dropping my dinner off! What are the chances of 2 items of terminal tackle breaking at the same time! Both were brand new!
Anyway every single person on the lake has done nothing except whip it to a foam, and EVERY angler has gone onto a peg you can park your car in or very very close to the carpark!
My walk with the barrow yes was one i wasnt looking forward to but you have to go where the fish are right!
This brings me to my point.
Im a big guy, im 6ft3 and 22 stone. So i have big kit!
My bedchair alone takes up most of my barrow (fox explorer delux) add to thats the bivvey, frontier camo xd and thsts all you getting on the barrow!
I know there are electric barrows, i used to have one but again its not the pushing it the size, barrows seam to be getting more and more power, kit is getting BIGGER, even compact gear now is large! Yet barrows are remaining the same size! Surly someone at fox put their top line bedchair on their yop line barrow and thought well we are not getting much more on there!
I had a nash trax also, fhat was big but heavy and still not big enough for the kit these days! I wouldnt mind all ive got is bivvy, 3 rods in bag and a songle rod sleeve, barrow bag, 4 buckets, biggest is a ridge monkey medium, (i can not for the life of me find a bucket to fit the 2 bag things near the barrow wheel, can anyine help) weigh sling, unhooking mat, (not even a cradle) i do havd a aqua guest chair, and everything else fits into the under bag and thebarrow bag ( things like brew kit, tackle box, bit of food etc.)
Now im good at loading a barrow, so the push wasnt hard, at one point i was one handed, but i still had to make 2x trips! Its the reson no one has walked tbe lake as they onow full well they are going to fish close to their van / car.
Surly bow we have 24 vault barrows we can have something bigger?
On sunday when i leave i will take a photo of the bed on the barrow and you will just laugh! Im bot talking weight im talking physical size.
Does anyone else feel the same or have found a way arround it? Please dont say take less tackle! Im dont even have propper food with me i just have essentials, my only none nessisary item is a spod bucket stand, but i now think its nessisary!

You mention that your mat isn't a cradle; I found that when I moved from a rolled up mat to a cradle, I could get a lot of stuff IN the cradle, and put that on top of the chair - it's almost as if you're taking the mat out of the equation in terms of fitting it on. Might be worth considering.
Also....do you need 4 buckets?

I see what you mean ,for sure tackle is getting bigger and bulkier,I have no reason why this is ,except for comfort reasons..
My thoughts in the past is small man syndrome,ie the bigger and more tackle you can take ,therefore you are!,it's visual perception of others perceived impression of yourself ,as an angler ,this concept ,thought process is preyed on by tackle makers,....biggest is best ...which is wrong..
I ditched buckets,spod rods ,any thing that's perifiail, it's gone ,nope ...remember it's manufactures perrigative to brainwash you into having the biggest and best kit in many cases,cut that from your mindset..and you'll be happy..
A bit like Klaus Shwab..you'll have nothing but 'you will be happy'
Cut your kit down ,be ruthless..

The main reason for my comfort tackle getting bigger was I got fatter, I remember carrying all my gear about 3/4 of a mile for a night in my early 20s, nearly 40 and doubt I'd be able to carry my bedchair that far now

Ive been as ruthless as i can be. MOST of my terminal tackle, brue kit etc goes in the barrow bag. I could save some space by finding contanors that fit inside the 2 dedicated bucket things by the fromt wheel (water and a snall bucket would be good but i cant). I then have barrow bag on front bar containing essentials and a few bits and bobs (medicstion, mosquito repelent, power pack etc) the ned char ( takes up the full main frame of the barrow) sits as high as the front rod rest bar. I have a little room then at the rear between the bed and handles to place landing net net, sling 3x legs for spod bucket stand. Thats the barrow fully loaded then!
So missing are
Couple of buckets (one pva mix so just a small one, the other for spod mix so medium or large deoending on session length)
Water (just got a small trakker container)
3x rods and reels in a small holdall, also has lanfging net handle, marker sticks etc.
Single rod sleve for spod / marker rod
Bivvy
Bivvy table
Guest chair for sitting outside ( a luxury item but i love it its nit HUGE)
Unhooking mat ( or cradle )
Food bag if i wanted to cook on the bank)
Boilies ( sometimes up to 20k)
And any other fun stuff if i wanted it!
Its not the worst having to do 2 trips where i am, its about a mile walk in total, but again this morning 3 more habve come 9n and gone right to pegs yoh can palk behind, i can only put this down to the fact they dont want to walk.
But on the other hand if i go down south on some more of the bigger less manicured lakes this would be 3 trips and could be 5 or 8 mile walk!
Surly its time for barrows to grow in size for the kit that has been getting bigger and bigger!

Have you opened the legs of your chair while on the barrow to give you the extra space between the legs? Makes a big difference on trying to pile everything on top of a folded up bed.

You're just taking too much stuff.
Bucket stands, guest chairs, 20kgs of boilies.....
I carry pretty much all my bait (including PVA mix and PVA mesh etc), boilies and hookbaits in a single Ridgemonkey bucket - one of the ones that have the removable internal compartments. It's just a case of being prepared in advance, working out what you need and replenishing what was used last time.
I think you need to be more ruthless. Get a smaller box for terminal tackle and just take essentials, a few leads and also replenish these between trips.

I agree to a point .... I remember the days of getting 48rhs worth of gear on a match trolley ... but then an argos sunlounger, a mummy style sleeping bag and a 45" nubrolli was as comfortable as it got. We didnt need unhooking mats the size of houses and a bag of tuttis was the total sum of bait we took.
there is no way round this .... carting the amount of kit we carry in one go is virtually impossible without doing your body a mischief .... Fact is if you want to carry this much gear .... Its two comfortable trips instead of one .... If you want to do it in one .... You have no choice but to ditch the gear ... Ive had this battle for years and have come to he conclusion that fishing should be enjoyed and comfortable so its two trips for me ..... and its a half hour trek each time to certain swims.

Bed chairs are getting bigger, it seems and the designs make no sense, lots of the day chairs also have huge packed down bulk its daft Add the new style sleep systems and the beds are insane. perhaps strip of the sleep system and see how well folded your bedchair is then ? Beds i had previously such as a terry hearn stealth or something virtually weighed half of the current ones and packed down half as flat. perhaps buy one of those with a thin sleeping bag??

I use a fox explorer barrow and fold out the legs i also put the chair parrellel with the trolley and then lay all my other buckets and gear on top of that.which brings it level with the top of the barrow bag on the front. I then lay rods and bivvy over this and a flat mat on top of that and strap it all down. In the past ive also folded my matt and spread it acros the arms at the rear and used that for extra storage but its heavier if loaded there. I like the barrow but its not one for huge loads really.

Fox explorer are not bad little barrows i used one for a few years. If you over load them the tyres blow out. Happened to me and everyone else on the syndicate who had one. The threads go in the thumb screws.

i now have a carp porter 24v power barrow. Not without its faults too but i can fit enough gear on for a weak.

One problem I can see
I have a Fox Explorer barrow and recently bought the rear wheels for it (LINKY POO
)
and BOOM my first problem the stability is terrific ! sadly it means its now too wide to go the doorway from my back garden to my front garden also if I had a garden gate it would not have gone thru that either !!
so its all very well making a jumbo barrow but it can cause problems

I know my old barrow broke so I thought I would upgrade to a big boy triporter to save my back. Unfortunately it won't go over the bridge that goes into one of my lakes. I don't have any more storage space for another barrow. Even if I could afford the luxury of two barrows.

I forgit to mention im here for a week, but bait is about the onky thinthimg i can go lighter on. My issue is the bed, ill try and get a photo when oacking away

Leave three buckets and excess lead/water/food (especially if you get food delivered) in the car. If necessary, walk back for essentials when you're about to recast. At the least it gives you the chance to have a peak elsewhere. Leave the guest chair and use your unhooking mat to sit on. The Frontier is 15KGs, there's much lighter ones available starting at 4 KGs at over half the price. Leave the brew kit and make coffee/tea at home and use a thermos. Then there's 3ft weighslings and the old-fashioned 10x10cm weighsacks that look like keepsacks. Ofcourse the latter will do just fine. Some straps and bungee cords are always nice to make sure nothing falls off. You could also change your barrow bag for a backpack if that helps. If your venue allows boats, you could load that up at the car and job done. And finally, defo leave the bucket stand at home.
