I know we all have our ups n downs in fishing,I suppose it's inevitable.
In 60 odd years of country life I've enjoyed most field sports and recreations.
I used to think that carp fishing robbed me of the others,how wrong I was.
I walk rivers and lakes with my best mate (Bruno the dog) and night fish with him regularly.
Nature comes to us in droves while sitting quietly by water.
I don't chase the big prizes now but am envious of those with passion and drive to do so.
So if you see a cheery ol boy on the bank with a dog that looks like a lion,stop and have a cuppa.

That's great to hear..
I've been lucky ,I have never lost interest in fishing ,shooting,outdoors stuff even to this day,its my fix,no fishing ,no life..anyway I got you,understand totally..
Other morning ,two kingfishers swooping ,and landing around the lake,you can't see that stuck in front of a TV, not in reality..

I know exactly what you mean. I'm sat out right now on a 3 day session and with views like this and watching the bats flying about and baby coots scurrying under my rods, I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be.

I've been fishing over 45 plus years now and only had a break when I had a bad split with an ex 2014/2015 about a year,I had to move back up midlands and lost a lot of gear now it's stronger than ever and love being out side regardless of the weather

What a great post I wish I felt like you I to have fished a long time i just feel fishing is full of agro I can't be bothered putting the gear in the car to go and when I do get it loaded more often than not I unload it again and don't bother think it's time to find something else something like bird photography have been inspired by spring watch

One of my favourite programs, and winter watch
Nothing nicer than sat beside a nice water, peace and quite, watching the world go by, as the OP says, the nature comes to you and goes, pretty amazing really, couple that with a few nice old carp along they way and it does not get much better for me, also spend a lot of time walking and looking, little rucksack, binoculars, camera etc. Done a lot of reading on the bank whilst fishing too over the years, you can sit at home or somewhere tranquil, thank god for choices
