Looking at a set of good value 10' rods with cork handles. Mainly for small waters. Don't want to spend a fortune so looking at either the Daiwa Black Widow G50 or the Darent Valley speci rod from the Tackle Box. Any thoughts from users. Both seem to fit the bill. Thanks in advance.

I have the darenth valley 10' spod and device/marker rod excellent bit of kit for the price so I'd imagine their carp rods are just as good.

Have a look at Wychwood's Extricator Plus rods. Excellent quality blanks, very light and look lovely.

They'll be a bit more money but I can absolutely recommend the Shimano tx2's. I have a pair of 10 footers with cork handles and I really like them. They've just got ‘that' feel.

Second this. I have the tx2 10ft in shrink wrap handles and they are very good

Cant fault my Darent valley 10ft 3lbs test rod from the Tacklebox. Excellent rods for the money and with there after sales service you cant go wrong.

i really didnt like my 10ft Shimano TX2 rods ... Thought they were quite heavy in the hand ... I ended up selling them on and bought TFG Compact Carp which have a nicer feel (albeit a lower test curve at 2.5lb) ... no good to OP as not cork handles ... If cork is the deal breaker I would look at Wychwood myself

Same, think people who say Tx-2 is a nice rod have never had a decent fish playing rod in their hands.
i have the Daiwa Cast'izm 10ft cork now very good fish/casting rods but if i needed to go back to my prevoius Nash 10ft dwarfs i would also be happy
if i lived in the uk i would probably go for Tackle box rods

I've got dozens of fishing rods of all types. I own sage and RL winston fly fishing rods from 3 weight to 7 weight. I have esp carp rods and hardy marksman Avon style rods. I use drennan rods for most of my coarse fishing. I've had and have many good “fish playing” rods. I still like my tx2's......so there.

Funnily enough I have a pair of the TFG rods also and don't like them at all! We're all different and that's ok!

ive literally never heard anyone say they didnt like the TFG Compact Carp rods ... but fair enough .... shame ESP dont bring out some 10ft'ers on the Alcolyte or Hearn Blank or even Trectrix (Ultralight) blanks ... now i would jump at them

I had a set of 3 compact rods when I worked at gooutdoors got them for around £30 each after my discount great rods had a 22lb pike from the itchen on them on a boilie,unfortunately I left them down south with my ex long story was a very messy split so had to start all over again.
