Was mooching about the house after watching some rando carp video and Greg Ellis came on after via auto play.
Nailed the mid-wit angler to a tee. Love him or hate him, the guy was doing his own thing, Muppets see him have one, next thing has bods fishing either side of him. Like he said, the bank he is was on hadn't been fished for ages.
So typical of guys unable to think for themselves and do their own thing. I'm sure that like me, the same has happened to you. What is it within these brainlets?

I watched it the other day, even though his persona annoys me. Greg is a good angler. The trouble is most of the vids tell people to get on the fish especially in winter. Easiest way is fish where you have seen them caught from. Nothing new I remember Rod Hutchinson writing that "At times he had more binoculars on him than a Derby winner".

So he turns up to a new lake that he hasnt fished before, and claims that the bank he is on hasnt been fished on for ages? How could be possibly know that?

Not sure what your expecting them to do, sit down the other end blanking? As frustrating as it is it's what happens, usually once your gone.
Many work hard at their fishing and many don't.

I've always liked his stuff on u tube but he does love himself a bit much and goes on like teenager. since catching the bc I'm sure he's got worse. The last vid definitely confirmed he's and out and out stoner

He chose a swim that had grass growing on it and appeared to not have been fished for some time. It's not hard to tell when a swim is fished regularly or not.

Isnt location the key to carp fishing? Can't catch what isn't in front of you. Sadly that means you might get some company as people move on to fish. Be a bit odd to actively avoid the fish.
Best thing to do is fish quiet lakes without many anglers on so you can avoid anyone stitching you up.

If its completely overgrown I would agree with you, but to say the bank hasnt been fished on for ages of a popular lake is probably not quite right.
Problem he has is that he sticks in loads of bait to the left and right of the swim, then complains that there are people left and right of him. The chances are high that people may well of seen fish jump, and are just doing what most anglers do and fish where the fish are.

A highly respected big fish angler once told me that's it's better to make the news, rather than chase the news.I'm sure no-one could argue with that sentiment. Unfortunately once you plaster your latest catch on the media as your sponsors want to see interest generated in what you are doing (and their tackle or bait you're using), the circus will follow.
You have to decide what you want out of your fishing. Do you want to catch them for the warm glow you get whilst looking at your private album or do you want it plastered everywhere? If it's the latter, you can't complain when it closes down your fishing.

Sorry, but you obviously don't know the lake involved. Your comment ignores the fact that this is an exceptionally busy circuit water. It's like saying you can't fish the swim next to yours on Yateley Car Park back in the day.
The swim he fished was a relatively lightly fished one compared to others, but the ones each side were popular, and often quite productive, so you can't blame people for fishing there. After lockdown, virtually every swim was taken, with people queuing behind, that's 50 anglers on 55 acres. It's not a little syndicate, it's a big club with 2,000 members.
If he can "Single" out the one he wants, it will be an incredible achievement, as that fish hasn't been caught since Spring 2019.

Greg is clearly a good angler. ( and he knows it) And I enjoy watching his videos. But the fella does seem to thrive on a bit of a battle when hes fishing. Definitely made for Carp fishing which seems to attract aggy types. Couldn't imagine him trotting a stick float down a chalk stream for Crayling..

That's fair comment, I don't know the water or what he's up against but the sentiment remains the same. By being high profile (by choice), people are more likely to jump in a swim behind you, even if it was "unfancied" before.
