hi, can someone who does metal work link me to the right angle grinder blade, to use to clean up welds, i normally use my metal cutting blade bcos im lazy, after i have welded something, however i know this is not right, but dont know what to buy to clean up or remove metal, thank you

I'm no metal worker, but I have used these for flatting rough cuts, chamfering edges etc, and use masonry versions regularly

Agree, if you are ok spending a few quid more then the flap discs are nicer to use and will remove material pretty quickly until they wear down.

Any grinding disc about 6 mm thick will do what you want, however it's not always advisable to buy the cheapest. Some shed grit very fast and although they might cut well they will be very dirty and also not last well. Flap discs work well for light metal removal.
As you say grinding with a cutting disc is wrong and it could easily shatter.

These are the best type along with a backing pad
Just make sure you get them for the right sized spindle
I still use these whenever I need to grind down welding.
60 grit is really rough and make short work of welding finer work use a higher number

As Andy mentioned, it's the flap disks you want, far superior to grinding disks, try then and you will see

I actually think the opposite Chris, those flap wheels are ok but a proper disc cutter with grinding blade is way better imo

Just a quick safety message to the DIYer's looking at this thread.
ALWAYS check max rpm on disc and grinder the rpm on disc MUST be greater than that of grinder.
It is not a pretty sight when a disc explodes and the damage it can cause.

Depends what you're grinding, where and why i guess. I do a lot of welding and fabrication and only ever use flap discs. In fact i cant remeber the last time i used a grinding disc.

Yeah it can be nasty, but if you are aware of the dangers and respect the kit it's no big deal. I've had shed loads shatter on me over the years and never had one injury because of it, that's using from little 4 inch right up to 12 inch discs. Joys of working in demo I guess

I had a slitting disk shatter it bounced and rode up my the side of my nose

Ouch. I've had a fair few bits hit me but never had any to the face thankfully. I use very thin 9 inch cutting discs mostly and they generally snap away from the centre rather than shatter into pieces,so I'm just left with the centre on the grinder and the outer disc usually stays stuck in whatever I'm cutting
