Hardly see these come up for sale Much in good condition does anyone know where does a set of 3 for the best price ? Gonna treat myself I think 🤩
I occasionally see some on Gumtree as well as eBay. They usually sell for 450-500 for three I have however seen them sell for more if upgrades have been added ..... Western spools, handle change.
Maybe put a wanted add on Tackle trader.

I picked mine up for 400 with no upgrades.
youll get a decent set with western spools/line clips maybe slow oscillation shafts if you are lucky.
battered sets are paramount to how good these reels are.

bare in mind.
quick drag caps and upgraded line clips (must have!) will be another 110 quid if you buy Weston upgrades.

The standard drag is the best thing about tournies imo. Apart from line clips they're best left standard I reckon.
They come up on FB market place quite frequently but 2nd hand prices are stupid at the mo. Buying new ain't a bad idea if you ring around and get a deal.

Agree drag is great. Line clips can be replaced if they break. Mine are still going strong.

Deffo agree, for the sake of a few quid get new ones and have the peace of mind that they havent been ragged. Some of the ones you see for sale second hand could, although still appear in good condition, be 15+ years old...

You won't find any good condition used ones... hence the lack of availability! I've 4,the three that get used regularly are battered even though I look after them, the forth is used on my syndicate where 4 rods are allowed or on the floater gear, it's still in “near perfect condition”😂 Buy new, accept the cost get the line clips upgraded, drag..I've a mix of nylon,carbon and original drag washers... used only for the takes and then backwind, I'm used to the Mitchell 300S!!, they all seem okay to me..
Rough loud and gnarly but they are good plus they always get a comment or two unfortunately only from the carpy brigade

I bought 3 new 6ks several years ago defo worth servicing. Bought a second hand one which needed a new spindle which cost me £180 once serviced.

I agree. I have bought a few sets of 6000's and 5000's in good second hand condition, but they always feel rough compared to new ones. It kind of goes against this myth that tournies are bomb proof etc. They are barely waterproof!
