Looking for some tips/advice for taking and storing food, drinks, cooking equipment to the lake.
With covid and a high risk family member i am isolating myself away from everyone so cannot go into a tackle shop to test anything, so looking for some personal recommendations
Need a cool bag/carryall that has enough room for food, drink and cooking equipment for a couple of days. From what ive seen online, everything is either massive and much bigger than i need, or too compact which are the issues i have currently. I seem to have bits scattered throughout my gear, and just want one bag that houses it all

My cooking equipment and utensils are stored in my ruck sack, and I keep my consumables in a separate cool bag or box dependant on the length of my stay. I have an isotherm box for 3 or more days. A Wychwood insulated bag for 1 or 2 days. There are loads of cool bags out there and most of them are not sold by fishing companies. Hope this helps

Little sachets of salt pepper sugar etc and even sauces.store them in a pop up pot Just take them From muccy d or something like that

Little plastic spatula thing
Freeze water as ice blocks for the cool box or bag And use as a drink And store the cool box in the van only get what you need when you need it.
Small gas bottle (spare in vehicle) in case I get caught short
Toastie maker can be used for most things
I think that is about all that's in my “camping overnighters bag“
Drink black coffee or tea saves a bottle or use whitener
I store my tea spoon in my coffee jar
Tea bags again in a pop up pot
Trying to cut out sweetener to save even more room
I use my titanium cup as a kettle as I bought a lid and store my stove And things inside that.
I'm drinking loads more water now so I do t even take my brew making stuff to the bank with me during the summer or day trips
An overnighter I might just use a mug shot thing and have a Porridge sachet or granola or something in the morning.
Depends on what you can survive on or how indulgent you want to be somethings just need thinking g about more than others
Can even make a salad before you go
Or chuck it all away and get some takeaways delivered as loads of others do

Must admit it's not as healthy or tasty as fresh/frozen food but tinned and packet foods are a lot easier to take if just doing 24-48 hours during this heat.
I can get a couple of days worth of grub, saucepan, bowl and utensils etc. in a smallish bag without the need for ice blocks.
A small Thermos flask with chilled milk.
Tea/coffee making gear, stove and kettle go in the barrow bag and take up no room at all anyway.
Must admit it's not as healthy or tasty as fresh/frozen food but tinned and packet foods are a lot easier to take if just doing 24-48 hours during this heat.

I got the chub long session cool bag on sale the other week, used it twice and it very good, loads of space but also flexible, perfect for a overnight session for me and my girls, it has 2 large removal sections inside that can be used inside the bag or fits into a couple of holders on the outside
Downside, plates and cups are too smal for my liking and the cutlery is a bit cheap, but other than that 👍

My current food bag is a Korum Ruckbag. It is insulated, so a couple of coolblocks keep what I need cold.
For 4 days I take 3 pieces of meat, 2 in one supermarket pack, usually pork steak, and one other in a tupperware tub, then a tin of tuna or other fish, either in oil or tomato sauce.
I have 4 onions, 4 bell peppers, cloves of garlic and a stick of ginger, and mushrooms in a few tupperware tubs.
A pack of pasta, and a tub of couscous, not forgetting a small bottle of cooking oil.
My breakfast recently has been Chocolate Brioche dunked in coffee, so in the bag are 4 packs of them, and then 4 tins of pasta, macaroni cheese, ravioli or All Day Breakfast for lunch. I take my real coffee and sugar containers, and I may have some in between meal or evening afters 'munchies'; Wagon Wheels, Jaffa cakes or the like.
The extra spare space is filled with reading material, currently Isaac Asimov, John Bailey, and the side pockets take my power pack, my ipad
My saucepan, frying pan, plate, Bialetti, stove and gas are in my rucksack, my 5litre water container is carried on the barrow, with an extra 10litre in the car.

I don't think there's a great well thought out food a cool fishing bag there just cool bags if a company was to design a bag that took stove ect then a separate insulated section for food then when if fancy cooking food having a brew you just take one bag then when you don't leave it at home then you don't go on a day session and carry cooking stove ect your not going to use

Have a look at the avid a spec cooler/cook bag, they have a big one ala carryall shape and a low level one which splits down as you describe.

My old Nash Session food bag sounds like what you're talking about. Holds everything, 3/4 cool storage the other separate third holds the kettle, burner, gas, 2 mugs, cooking oil etc. Has two end pockets for other bits and the front outer pocket holds all the cutlery and plates etc. Must have had it 10 years, never seen anything to match it.

I used to have one massive carryall and one food bag but got rid of them and now think you are better off going for separate items. I now have a small Nash carryall that the non-fishing hardware (stove, kettle, plate, charger etc etc) goes in and then the small Nash Polar bag that is about the same size as the carryall that I use on 48 hour sessions. Then I have the option on either a longer session or when it is going to be roasting hot to take the Coleman Extreme coolbox instead. I also have a small rucksack that all the actual fishing kit goes in. Gives you more options I find.

do you have a barrow mate? most barrow manufacturers also sell cooler bags to fit their barrows
