hi when i roll my own, i always airdry them , and then put them in bags with salt, then add some tuna hydroslates etc that i do a few days before usually,
but i want to knock up a few more kilo, this time, to do some baiting, so could i do it for a longerterm with a bigger roll out about 20 kilo, and leave it in a bucket for a few weeks/months? will the bait turn when in hydroslates after air drying and salting,
it hasnt on my store bought pop ups but there more shelflife anyway

As long as there is moisture they will turn mate.
Pop ups are completely different as they're not made entirely out of food.

Maybe add glycerine to the hydro to act as the preservative ? Not sure how long you'll get depending on the ratio you use.

I asked A.B.S. if they could do Hydra K as air dried. They said no, but I could dry them myself, but they said they would advise against it for this kind of bait.

I think it largely depends on the bait and ingredients within as I have found some air dry better than others I would be inclined to try a smaller batch first and see how you go. Air dry for a good few days in a cool dry place in cardboard boxes or airdry bags before putting into buckets and glugging

I'm no expert but wouldn't you just be better off air drying them and then just rehydrating them with the hyroslates as and when required? Just an idea mate

Think they maybe fine as the hydroslates usually contain a fair amount of salt and your also adding salt, the one thing I did find with the old L0-30 was it hardened the baits but I suppose the salt will have a similar effect over time?
Probably best to knock up a small batch and see how they turn out.

Personally I would preserve them in the salt but wouldnt add the hydros until a week before you need them , then add the hydros after removing from the salt . I'd water the hydro down a bit too so it penetrates the bait
