The safety aspect of this of which there are many is what concerns me.
Starting from the actual set up of the device on a lead clip, if you're wanting to drop the lead,the cushioning of the spring will negate the ability for the carp to shake the lead off the lead clip. likewise in the event of a crack off or being snapped not only will the carp not be able to get rid of the lead by shaking its head, the lead isn't going to pull off the clip as the twig will be taking all the pressure whilst going through the weed,debris and snags
Once hooked and the fish bolts,this is one of ali's usp's of the twig,no finicky takes just one toners,if the fish bolts through weed and them arms are open they'll stop a carp pretty dam quick as the twig gathers weed.
Any crack offs or line parting,even if the lead has come off,them arms sticking out are going to gather weed,debris and caught in snags.
Once netted, the arms are likely to catch in the net, ali recommends unhooking all fish in the net but the target audience for thus device is likely to never have done that and also its not always possible even for experience anglers or terrain of the banks etc.
Aswell as all the above I question the actual working of the device, if your fishing with pop up,ronnie,shr,multi rig the fish is in no way in direct contact with the device as it tilts down and feeds on the pop up, the fish will have to be hooked and moving off to actually activate the device, infact I question that for this device to go off at all the fish has to be hooked from the off to create the pressure to activate the device.
The primary role of the leadclip when first released was the ease of being able to drop the lead if required,with the use of the twig between hook and lead clip I dont even see how it is possible,add to that the usual user error of forcing the tail rubber aswelll then it cant be a good combination at all.....

The underlying problem with all this isn't about who dislikes Hamidi and this god awful contraption, it's that his loyal followers on social media will and have bought into it, blindly unaware of the implications of using it. That is the result of years of marketing bollox that him and korda etc have nurtured.

So we can't educate everyone against this, nor can we police it, what happens will happen, we just have to live with hearing about the carnage that will ensue unless the tackle shops get pressured into not selling it, they are profiting also so if any fish damage and deaths do occur as a direct consequence of inappropriate use they are partly responsible.

I'm unable to find any OMC stuff on faceache, either they've blocked me for telling the truth or I've dreamt the whole twig thing up. I've been quite vocal about the failings of this item, both waters I fish have already banned them, and it looks like OMC have banned me 🤣🤣🤣

As I said earlier the 20 year old, noddy me would have used it as well so I do get it. Thankk God it is banned by every water I fish, even if it isn't...it is, if you know what I mean!

i think the people posting on here about hating Ali are completely barking up the wrong tree. I have absolutely no issue with him whatsoever. My view is entirely based on this product and the harm that will inevitably come from using it.
Cottington Lakes has banned them for the time being - good. Seems there's a growing groundswell of opinion here that logic based, not emotionally based, that this just isn't a thing we should be tying on the end of our lines.

I've developed a bit of hate for him, mainly because he has such an influence both internally but also to the wider world, he's on mainstream tv for god's sake. The heavy marketing was one thing but since he openly lied about the products safety (arms not snapping, etc etc) and his flat denial of any potential issues, he can do one.

It's banned on all embryo waters now also
Got to be a bit of a kick in the nuts to Ali that the Korda owned Embryo lakes have banned it. Looks like he could have done with the support from them. If they'd of come out and said it's fine to use I think maybe more lakes would have allowed it. But the fact it's been banned for the lakes of a fellow tackle manufacturer speaks volumes

I can imagine it's not just anglers that are feeling this way and that will impact him massively going forward. The reluctance from Ali to see the need for changing the product and the issues is a real shame and for me, he has lost a lot of credibility.
I hope that the tv companies take note and do not air anything with the twig!
