I thought that the statement released by those who had been using it said it wasn't from the angling world but from aquaculture, which unfortunately means they did not deny it was hormones, I wish they had as people will be looking now.
Trouble is I don't believe anything that's being said anymore... I've lost all respect for both bait and tackle companies and as for fishery owners, they just don't care, someone catching loads of fish is good for business, if it all goes belly up they can easily buy more carp....disgusting

I know but throughout this thread the two things keep getting conflated. The CC podcast had proper substantial evidence of people using hormones, evidence from fishery owners etc. The Kev Hewitt podcast seems to be quite unfortunate in that the way he's made his edge out to be secret, implicates him, but I would personally forget about Kev Hewitt and follow the CC route because the guy on there said he had actually spoken to people who used the stuff.

I dont think for a second what Kev spoke about in the Nash podcast was any kind of illicit substance. I dont think he would be that stupid to have said what he said, I think it was just very unfortunate timing of him saying it.
I would say what he said it absolutely dissapointing for anyone that follows anglers like him though. People spend money buying the exact bait and rigs they use, and for him to go and say that he has secret edges that he uses is pretty disgusting tbh.
If you want to keep your fishing a secret that's fine, we all do, that's why we don't put ourselves out in the public eye, we don't go around telling people lies about the way you fish, and tell people to buy this and that , how any of his followers still follow him after that is beyond me. I dont think that's fair. We all have "edges". I'm quite open with my fishing but I never give everything away. Lets face it you cant expect to catch more than others if you're telling them exactly what you're up to. And for someone that makes a living from fishing, catching more than others is important. I doubt any of the "top anglers" give away all their secrets in the public domain.

I agree, Yonny. But if I was suffering stress, anguish and mental health problems due to having a secret edge I'd be spilling the beans.

Bless you Sam for thinking that some of these bait companies have any honest morals whatsoever. 😂
I'll share a little story with you... It involves the bloke who is now head media honcho at the very bait company who sponsors Kev. Jimmy he goes by. He contacted me seven years ago, when our business had not long started... But was doing incredible results from the start. He wanted some free hook baits... Told me he was going to France with Ali Hamidi etc to make a Korda video. He said he would love to take our hook baits after clubbing so many fish in the UK on them... And would get them on the Korda video. Fair enough I thought... So I sent him a load of coated S1 & S2 barrels for free. There was three of them fishing.. Ali and the other fella caught two I think... Jimmy caught 18 on our S1, something like that...
At the end of the video... Ali asks Jimmy why he's had this result... Jimmy holds up a handful of our S1 barrels to camera.. And proceeds to tell Ali how it's the special hook baits HE MAKES. Goes onto comment how HE cures them.. And HE hard coats them HIMSELF. What a hero.
I learnt very quickly what scummy dishonest little rats most of these blokes are. They would sell their own granny for a few strips of boilie stops. That video is still online somewhere for all to see.
The saddest part of that story... Is it's not unique.., I have tonnes of similar stories involving the BIGGEST carp in the land. I dread to think exactly how much bait has been sold to you lot dishonestly off the back of us... When the bait companies know exactly what the fish were actually caught on. They don't care... And actually encourage it!
One of our anglers who rips everywhere to bits with them... Was offered £5k a year... A free Dinton gold card and all the bait he could use earlier this year... To STOP saying he'd caught them on our hook baits.... John earns good money, he's a top floor layer, he has morals and is a proper bloke.... He told them to poke the consultancy and free bait he was already on and moved to a different company who would allow him to be honest....John will always get WHATEVER he needs from us until the day he does not want our hook baits... Others never had his morals... But that's all stories for another day 😂

It really is a sad place where carpfishing is right now, all he's fame seekers milking it for their own gains, look at me, sad ****ing carp angler
It all started to go wrong once companies knew they could make a killing from it, the advertisement campaigns that started to saturate the good stories in carp magazines, the video promotion era, the falsified image that carpin is cool and the desperate need for fame, roll it forward 15 or 20 years and look where we are now ffs what a ****ing joke

I have only ever had dealings with one bait company, when I was younger I put a few pics in that carp mag that was weekly, as the geez seemed a ok bloke, big mistake half my fish were on tigers but thay suddenly were on his f in bait, happens all the time , lies lies and more lies.
